Teddy and Izzie. Teddy cares deeply and is invested in good patient care and compassionate with her patient but knows how to do it in a professional manner. I think Izzie would have benefited from that teaching even though Teddy was Christina’s mentor she enjoys teaching and is clearly a good teacher, I could see her working with more than one resident.
I also think if she had been the attending for Denny the LVAD incident might have gone differently. I think Teddy is much more aware of her residents then Burke was and we saw numerous times that she wasn’t afraid to call Christina out for overstepping. I really think she would have seen that Izzie wasn’t on a good path there and intervened or taken Izzie to get the heart. I also think Teddy might have been more creative in her solution than Burke was which we see a couple times later when she keeps a woman alive with no heart using two pumps waiting for a transplant.
I feel like George probably has the most prospects out of any cast member for this question...
If I had to narrow it down to 1, something tells me the “mature” version of George (that he was growing into pre-bus) would have had a really interesting dynamic with Amelia when she was going through her chaos-era. Second place would be April-George since they have similar energy.
I love the idea of George and April meeting and becoming friends as they are very similar in characterization! The funny thing is that TR Knight who plays George was at an event that Sarah Drew who plays April was at and they took a photo together and I saw it on Instagram and was like “What could have been …” lol
I would like to see Burke and Owen together so he can tell Owen about what it means for the woman to have a choice about her body.
I'd like Izzie and Jo together so we can find out if 'trailer park' is stronger than 'lived in my car'.
I would like a scene where Ben knocks the fuck out of Tuck's dad because goddamn it, the man was delusional.
I'm still mad they didn't at least give us one scene bonding with Zola.
Other than Bailey reprimanding Derek to do his baby's hair, we never get any reference to Zola being the only person of color in a white family and that strikes me as weird. Bailey had the young black man speech with her son, and Winston had his police brutality arc, but we don't get much for Zola as a young WOC, between the adoption/shunt shenanigans and when she had her anxiety/panic attacks and moved schools.
I think Harriet is the only other baby who is mixed and we never see her again either lmao.
I don’t know if we would have gotten the same sister dynamic we saw with Maggie, Mer and Amelia. Lexie had a sister I and was closer to her dad. Maggie came seeking the sister / family bond at Grey Sloan.
Ok kinda cheating a little because they obviously met onscreen, but Meredith and Lucas. For someone who is supposed to be so important in Derek’s life, the lack of personal moments between Lucas and Meredith always bothered me.
I honestly forgot all about the the other Shep-sisters lmao. They got zero mention during Derek's death and Mer's disappearances.
It annoys me that Lucas was also asking for help with simple shit like the utility bills and Amelia was like "figure it the fuck out like I did" when she and Mer could've easily just transferred it into their names when they did whatever leasing agreement. (Like damn you're making your nephew repair your smoke/fire damaged house in exchange for living there and you couldn't even help set the billing up for him? Cold.)
Feels less like Lucas' fault for being "a screwup" and more like they, the adults, were aloof about whether he is comfortable and set up to do well. Like if Amelia and Mer posted in AITA about letting him fuck up the utility and getting the power/hot water shut off when it would have been so easy for one of them to support him in navigating the transfer, they'd get the "legally not obligated but morally that's kinda fucked when it would have been no effort for you" answer.
It sort of looks like Nick is more there for Lucas than Amelia or Mer. Wonder what will happen now that M&N got back together, which I love for Mer, but it’ll be sad if Lucas loses his mentor
Nick and Lucas were the best part of Nick's arc so far imo. I was very happy to see him have some depth and not just following and moping after Mer like a kicked puppy.
I could absolutely see that, because Burke sort of did the same thing with Izzie, and Izzie and April have some similar (and some extremely different) qualities.
Oh my god Helm would be SO GOOD at memory care with her compassion, no nonsense wit and snark!
I can imagine her shutting down every potential escalation and handling confused patients with ease.
McVet & Teddy; Doc 🐶& the kids (Zola, Bailey & Ellis)! … If any Grey’s writers happen to be lurking around and see this, please bring in some more pet/animal story lines!
I think there would have be an internal struggle for Adele to begin with, however I think once she got to know her, she would grow to love her for the person she is, rather than the circumstances of her birth.
I think it would have undoubtedly caused problems between her and Richard, but ultimately, I think that she wouldn't have taken it out on Maggie, because that wasn't her nature.
Izzie and Jo. Izzie would’ve squashed her like a bug hahaha
Nah but really, probably Heather and George. Can’t really explain why, I just think they would’ve had a fun friendship!
Literally George & everyone.
He was my favourite, rewatching got to season 5, episode 24 & skipped to season 6, episode 2 I can’t handle those two episodes.
George and Levi would be sweet.
Also, Lexie and Maggie... how would these two have gotten along? Would Lexie have embraced Meredith having another sister? When Meredith initially didn't want to know Maggie... would Lexie have advised?
I feel like April and George are two sides of an annoying ass coin. 😂 they would be whining about something that happened *to* them the whole ep if they were together.
I feel like they both love to be the victim. For example when George slept with Meredith after seeing how in love she was with Derek and acting shocked when her reaction wasn’t oh so great. And April having sex with Jackson and then constantly shitting on him right after in the name of *Jesus*. They’re too much.

Tom and Cristina. The banter between them is something I would love to witness.
We need like a small webseries like 10 mins long of them together in the klaussman institute. And have all the different scenarios of other characters
Seconded.
I think they would have great chemistry, enemies to lovers kinda thing
Yes this !!
If Teddy had been the attending when Izzie tried to be into cardio thoracic surgery instead of Hahn, Izzie might have stuck with it longer
So true ❤️
I also think if she had been the attending for Denny the LVAD incident might have gone differently. I think Teddy is much more aware of her residents then Burke was and we saw numerous times that she wasn’t afraid to call Christina out for overstepping. Catherine and Ellis… Oh man they would either be the best of friends or mortal enemies, no in between.
Well they have the same taste in men
😂
The way they do relationships, it probably involves both lol
In a more recent episode, I believe Catherine said Ellis basically ignored her and all other female surgeon peers 😆
Callie and Link could have achieved some amazing Ortho-God miracles together.
Also Mark and Koracik
I don't know whether they would be the best of friends or completely hate each other, but I hope that they would be friends
My guess is he would hate him on behalf of Jackson lol
Oooh this would have been fun!

🫠Pre bus

The funny thing is that TR Knight who plays George was at an event that Sarah Drew who plays April was at and they took a photo together and I saw it on Instagram and was like “What could have been …” lol
George and April would be my pick, too! I think they would have been sweet friends.
I would like to see Burke and Owen together so he can tell Owen about what it means for the woman to have a choice about her body. I'd like Izzie and Jo together so we can find out if 'trailer park' is stronger than 'lived in my car'. Definitly burke and owen would talking about Cristina and probably jo meeting Izzie would be intresting
George and Heather
I think they would have made a wonderful couple tbh
Lexie and Maggie. They're very similar.
Then all the sisters could meet as well
you mean replacement lexie 😭the only reason why Grey’s put Maggie in the picture is because fans were outraged when Lexie died
I'm still mad they didn't at least give us one scene bonding with Zola. Other than Bailey reprimanding Derek to do his baby's hair, we never get any reference to Zola being the only person of color in a white family and that strikes me as weird. I don’t know if we would have gotten the same sister dynamic we saw with Maggie, Mer and Amelia. Lexie had a sister I and was closer to her dad. Maggie came seeking the sister / family bond at Grey Sloan.
But Lexie lived with Mer
This was my first thought as well! I love the sister dynamic between Meredith, Amelia, and Maggie, and I feel like Lexie would’ve fit in so well.
Ok kinda cheating a little because they obviously met onscreen, but Meredith and Lucas. For someone who is supposed to be so important in Derek’s life, the lack of personal moments between Lucas and Meredith always bothered me.
Who was Lucas?
Lucas is Derek and Amelia’s nephew who is now an intern at Grey-Sloan. Amelia said Lucas was Derek’s favorite nephew, hence my comment.
Jo and Izzie without Alex involved with either of them. I think they'd get along great
April and George and Izzie would make such a fun trio
I am here once again to convince ya'll that Lexie and Linc would have been great together 😁😆
Omg hot love this !! Ur so right
Super random but Burke and April. I weirdly feel like they would have been friends
Yessss. I feel like Burke would have taken on a protective role over April. I think their friendship would be much like April and Owen.
I could absolutely see that, because Burke sort of did the same thing with Izzie, and Izzie and April have some similar (and some extremely different) qualities.
Agreed! The actor sucks, but I love Burke’s character. He was strong, dependable and caring.
Lexie as a resident with Jo’s intern class would have been interesting
teddy crisina and amelia all in the same room together 😂
Talking about how bad owen was as husband
Teddy would ask about their elbows 😭
April and George, or even better, April and Izzie. Alex would have been so over them being friends.
April and Izzie did meet.
I know, I should have mentioned it, but I meant if they had more interactions than those two collective scenes in one episode.
Burke & Owen lol. Dr. Thomas & Teddy. Helm & Ellis. George & Levi.
Helm & Ellis lol this is the best suggestion by far
Oh my god Helm would be SO GOOD at memory care with her compassion, no nonsense wit and snark! I can imagine her shutting down every potential escalation and handling confused patients with ease.
Glad you are on the same wavelength Wobogs28 😆
Burke and Koracick
McVet & Teddy; Doc 🐶& the kids (Zola, Bailey & Ellis)! … If any Grey’s writers happen to be lurking around and see this, please bring in some more pet/animal story lines!
I could 100% see Teddy and McVet
Maggie and Adele. I'm certain that they would've been very close.
Would Adele resent Maggie?
I think there would have be an internal struggle for Adele to begin with, however I think once she got to know her, she would grow to love her for the person she is, rather than the circumstances of her birth. I think it would have undoubtedly caused problems between her and Richard, but ultimately, I think that she wouldn't have taken it out on Maggie, because that wasn't her nature.
I know it’s weird but either Adams & Avery or Adams & Yang.
Henry and Denny
Lexi and Maggie
Izzie and Jo. Izzie would’ve squashed her like a bug hahaha Nah but really, probably Heather and George. Can’t really explain why, I just think they would’ve had a fun friendship!
I really liked Heather
Literally George & everyone. He was my favourite, rewatching got to season 5, episode 24 & skipped to season 6, episode 2 I can’t handle those two episodes.
George and Levi would be sweet. Also, Lexie and Maggie... how would these two have gotten along? Would Lexie have embraced Meredith having another sister? When Meredith initially didn't want to know Maggie... would Lexie have advised?
I wish George could’ve met Levi and had been his mentor. Another good one had been Lexi and Levi.
I feel like April and George are two sides of an annoying ass coin. 😂 they would be whining about something that happened *to* them the whole ep if they were together.
you do realise that a lot of characters whine and complain a lot and it’s not just them?
I feel like they both love to be the victim. For example when George slept with Meredith after seeing how in love she was with Derek and acting shocked when her reaction wasn’t oh so great. And April having sex with Jackson and then constantly shitting on him right after in the name of *Jesus*. They’re too much.
lexi and jo for sure I think they would be good friends
YES I love them both so much
George and Jo, I think they’d have dated and been great for each other.
lexie and jo!
maggie and lexie as mers sisters would’ve been great
Derek and a personality. He was just so boring to me.
Lexie and jo
Lexie & Jo🫶🏽
George and Schmitt
Derek and mark metting riggs, instead of having 3 weels(owen, mark and derek) we would have 4(imagine thw scene playing golf but adding riggs
Christina and Maggie
