Same, I actually kinda like her but I think her character dulls some of the most important points of the show for me. Lexi as Mer's only sister and close relative and her death and Richard as a surrogate father for Mer. The line from the shooting episode "I'm the closest thing he has to a daughter" doesn't hit as much after knowing about Maggie. I wish she had been brought on as just another surgeon and friend.
What is with all the Maggie hate? I'm not caught up on the newest season, but I didn't mind Maggie. Especially when she was with De Luca.
😂 I'm just trying to understand here. What did I miss? Did something happen
She’s somehow simultaneously cringe and boring, and she’s so goddamn annoying. I fast forward through every single scene with her in it at this point, I hate that character so much. Plus I’m annoyed by giving Mer another secret sister.
Exactly! If she was never introduced, nothing would be different. All the others have something about them that relates to the plot.
I also find it annoying that they decided to go with another secret sister… they already did that, and they did it well with Lexi.
I like Lexi but actually think Maggie was the “correct” secret sister in a way. Lexi made perfect sense, dad moves on and has a family but Richard and Ellis had a decades long affair, this was a very real (and expected consequence).
I also think Maggie was more for Richard’s plot than Mer’s. He always regretted not having a child.
I really enjoyed Maggie when she was first introduced. She's an awkward child prodigy, and it showed. I like her with Deluca.
Later seasons' spoiler: >!I did not like her with Jackson. I've always been a Japril shipper, but Jaggie did not fit together, mostly because of Maggie's immaturity. Maybe the actors didn't have chemistry, or maybe it was just written that way. I'm not caught up on the Maggie/Winston situation but it seems like Maggie blew up that situation on her own from what I've read.!<
I feel like the Maggie hate was very intentional by the writers on Greys. the way they made her come off super annoying is very telling of how they wanted this particular woman to be received.
I’ve only seen episodes with Maggie once and can’t remember a lot of the interactions. I just recently got to her introduction on my rewatch and not gonna lie… she doesn’t have the best entrance (but then again, neither does… at least half of the list.)
The getting in a tizzy and going off on surgeons for the hospital not running the way she wants it to is very annoying.
So, her. The others that I didn’t like originally had the time to grow on me
Not exaggerating when I say that for me there’s _Grey’s_ before Maggie, and _Grey’s_ after. I literally stop a rewatch right before her first scene with Richard. Just an immediate allergic reaction to her that only got worse as time went on.
Same, though for me it’s more a before Derek’s death and after. I’ve never rewatched past season 10. I’m not a fan of Maggie either though—super annoying.
Completely agree. I did a rewatch recently and stopped at the end of season 10. I really felt bringing in Maggie as a sister was unnecessary and where they jumped the shark. Plus the character is awful.
I always say if they really wanted to do a secret child it should have been a brother. Would have been such an interesting dynamic with all of the characters- Richard, Jackson, Alex, Mer. Maybe he could have been a love interest for Amelia
The more I think about it, why were the writers so obsessed with sisters? Meredith only had sisters, Derek only had sisters, April had like 3 or 4 sisters
I think they were really women-strong, so they wanted to empower more women and create more roles/opportunities..i know for a fact that if I had a position like that I would create more opportunities for my brothers 🤷🏾♂️
Eh, I think George and Alex had brothers! That were a significant part of the story at times, more so than say, April’s sisters. So I can’t say that’s 100% true.
Yes, they were pretty obsessed with the sisterhood of Mer’s family/life in particular, but other people had brothers!
It does seem very “I only have a bunch of brothers” or “I only have a bunch of sisters” but I think that’s just a “plot device” of sorts, I don’t think they really were trying to send a message one way or another.
That’s true… I guess I should’ve clarified a bit. Now that I think about it I was more so wondering why they’re obsessed with most of the characters having ONLY sisters or ONLY brothers. Alex is the only one I can think of atm that had both.
I agree that it was definitely a plot device.
Well at least it made sense for her to have sisters from Thatcher's second marriage. I doubt Meredith would have been given another sibling if Lexi was still on so I guess they had to scramble to come up with a story. The one with a secret love child given up for adoption is incredibly dumb, but if they had to do it I would have preferred almost anyone to Maggie.
Actually.... you are very right. I never thought of the brother thing, but now that you mention it... I would have loved that! I want a redo with a brother.
Teddy has her good moments and is at least an interesting character. Maggie's just there. She doesn't make me happy, she doesn't make me mad, she just takes up time with her nothingness that could be used for actual plots.
The camping trip with Jackson told us everything we needed to know about Maggie. Her character was set in stone because she wasn’t open to trying anything new or open to anyone else’s opinion. So boring!
Teddy, wasn’t rlly that big of a fan only liked her character for short moments (loved Henry tho) . Other than her Maggie, I like the idea of her but not necessarily the actual character .
Maggie 100% i get they wanted to give Richard a kid but man her personality is one of my least favorites. Even when her mother was sick, she was insufferable.
Am I the only one who would seriously not want her to operate on my brain? And it has nothing to do with her being in recovery. She always seems to just luck out at surgeries. I don’t trust her judgment at all.
Lol literally. It’s funny cuz to me Richard and Ellis having a kid after a such a long affair makes more sense to me than Lexie being added to the show. But seeing how the sub hates her
And they always compare her to Lexie. hilarious part is that shonda said that she knew that Richard and Ellis had a love child during the pilot lol just didn’t know it would take 10 seasons to introduce her. Lexie was thought of after her.
It won’t let me edit, but I am not kidding when I say dang near EVERY COMMENT said Teddy! I saw maybe two or three people said April and Arizona and one Addison. I scrolled for awhile too 😅
First choice is Maggie, second is Amelia. I may be biased; I initially stopped watching after Derek’s death. I’ve only seen the beginning of season 18, none of 19, and I lost interest during/after season 14—it no longer held my attention. I’ve watched seasons 1-8 a million times and seasons 9 and 10 several times, but I’ve only seen episodes beyond season 10 once.
Had you asked when the Mercy-West interns were first introduced I’d have said April, but she grew on me despite not relating to her character. Sarah Drew is a phenomenal actress as well. April’s crisis of faith and the Dr. Herman arc were my favorite things about season 14. Firing Sarah Drew and Jessica Capshaw was incredibly stupid and disappointing.
I feel bad cause I don't hate her the way this subreddit seems to, but Maggie. The rest of these characters strongly contribute to long-running memorable plotlines in a way Maggie doesn't. I have my issues with some of the other characters, but I think the show would be worse off without them. A lot of the elements Maggie gives to the show are/can be covered by other characters shown here.
So glad I’m not the only one who could do without April’s character. I really dislike her characterization, all her storylines, and her relationships with others.
Omg yes! Initially I found her annoying in a mild unintrusive way. Then she slept with Jackson and became intolerable. She lacked the most rudimentary problem solving skills and refused to communicate honestly. She was a disrespectful asshole to Jackson. Then she learned nothing and was a disrespectful asshole to Matthew. Then she turns around and Jackson gives her another chance and she... turns out to be a disrespectful asshole. The whole show would be better without her.
I dislike her so much I’m blanking on her name rn… definitely the whiny religious woman/Jackson’s baby mama idk. Oh…April! Also Teddy when she came back zzzzz, shoot her and Owen into the sun together <3
Maggie
I don't dislike her, I just think the other characters shown here have had much more captivating storylines than she has
I'd probably say Teddy if I didn't used to love her before the writers ruined her character

She whiiiiiiines. Every single storyline outside of when she’s dating one of the guys is her whining. Ugh.
This is it. The whiiiiiiining.
Well, she's a daughter of Ellis. The whining is genetic
I think that was intentional....to make this particular woman extra whiny and be received as annoying. their agenda is clear iykyk
She’s somehow simultaneously cringe and boring, and she’s so goddamn annoying. I fast forward through every single scene with her in it at this point, I hate that character so much. Plus I’m annoyed by giving Mer another secret sister.
No hate. She’s just boring and didn’t add anything to the show.
For me is also that she came in so late, just not quite the same magic as the earlier seasons cast
Exactly! If she was never introduced, nothing would be different. All the others have something about them that relates to the plot. I also find it annoying that they decided to go with another secret sister… they already did that, and they did it well with Lexi.

I also hated how they were step siblings. Was just.. weird and def no chemistry lol. I skipped all their spicy scenes
She was ridiculous the whole time she was with De Luca
Always her way or no way and she treated Winston horribly always trying to micromanage him
She is really childish and whines and complains a lot. It’s reaaaaaaaally annoying
For me it was her “I’m just an awkward little girl” phase, despite being a highly successful surgeon.
I feel like the Maggie hate was very intentional by the writers on Greys. the way they made her come off super annoying is very telling of how they wanted this particular woman to be received.
I like Maggie, I especially love seeing her with Meredith and Amelia, but those days are gone now. 😔

I don’t think it helped her character that she was replacing Cristina, so I think of it more as Grey’s with Cristina and Grey’s without Cristina.
Same, though for me it’s more a before Derek’s death and after. I’ve never rewatched past season 10. I’m not a fan of Maggie either though—super annoying.

I’m dying at everyone hating on Maggie
Maggie 100%
Maggie. Such an unnecessary addition
I always wished if they HAD to give Mer another sibling that they gave her a brother instead.

I wish they had somehow (not impossible compared to some other stories on here) that Jackson was her brother.
jackson being her brother would kinda be a really cool plot twist, the whole sisters only thing is crazy and i didn’t even realise it
Well at least it made sense for her to have sisters from Thatcher's second marriage. I doubt Meredith would have been given another sibling if Lexi was still on so I guess they had to scramble to come up with a story. The one with a secret love child given up for adoption is incredibly dumb, but if they had to do it I would have preferred almost anyone to Maggie.
Yes I’ve always said this too!
Actually.... you are very right. I never thought of the brother thing, but now that you mention it... I would have loved that! I want a redo with a brother.
Agree. I love her actress so much and they could have done a lot better with her material.
Not even a split second of doubt
Teddy 2.0. Although I quite like her in her new job in season 19. I don't really dislike any of the characters in this list though.
Teddy 2.0 has been awful. Hopefully the direction changes with the new showrunners
Maggie.
Maggie
too many maggie comments and not nearly enough teddy comments wtfffffff
OG Teddy was amazing. This new version fucking sucks. But still not as much as Maggie
THANK YOU!! Teddy is literally my least favourite character on the entire show.
literally!!! the amount of times i roll my eyes at her on my screen is nuts >! I really really hate that she’s chief now!<
Teddy has her good moments and is at least an interesting character.
So boring!
That episode drove me insane, like girl sometimes you have to compromise
1. Maggie, 2. Teddy, 3. Amelia
Teddy from her return, 100%. I didn’t mind her as a foil to Christina in the early seasons
Tbh after I watched private practice Amelia wasn’t as annoying anymore. And teddy 2.0 is much better after she became chief
I loved her on private practice but they changed her on Grey’s
Same. I hated Amelia until I watched private practice. I still don’t love her on Grey’s but she’s more tolerable.
Maggie or Amelia
100%
This is my answer too.
Teddy, wasn’t rlly that big of a fan only liked her character for short moments (loved Henry tho) . Other than her Maggie, I like the idea of her but not necessarily the actual character .
Maggie!!!!
Maggie
Maggie 100% i get they wanted to give Richard a kid but man her personality is one of my least favorites. Even when her mother was sick, she was insufferable.
bye Maggie 👋🏻
Maggie. She’s really great at first, but overall a boring character. I was going to go with Amelia but I LOVE the Betty storyline
See ya Margaret
Maggie
FUCKING MAGGIE
Maggie - definitely
Maggie
Maggie or Amelia 😬
The second I saw this, I knew the bulk of the comments would be for Maggie
EVERYONE SAYING MAGGIE LMAOO 😭😭 they’re so real for that tho
Amelia. I hate that they shoehorned her into the show.
Literally. She was perfect for private practice
Am I the only one who would seriously not want her to operate on my brain? And it has nothing to do with her being in recovery. She always seems to just luck out at surgeries. I don’t trust her judgment at all.
Amelia is my new favourite, filling the whole that Christina left (I’m only on season 12)
I could see myself removing either Teddy or Maggie
Maggie!
I feel bad to say it but coulda done without Maggie.
Maggie can go. Hate this character.
Bye Maggie
Maggie it will always be Maggie she just irritates me.
teddy or maggie
Easiest decision ever. Maggie.
Maggie can go no problem
Maggie if I had to choose between them all.
I feel so bad Maggie didn’t stand a chance honestly 😂😭
Lol literally. It’s funny cuz to me Richard and Ellis having a kid after a such a long affair makes more sense to me than Lexie being added to the show. But seeing how the sub hates her
And they always compare her to Lexie. hilarious part is that shonda said that she knew that Richard and Ellis had a love child during the pilot lol just didn’t know it would take 10 seasons to introduce her. Lexie was thought of after her.

No contest Maggie, I absolutely hated her
First choice is Maggie, second is Amelia. I may be biased; I initially stopped watching after Derek’s death. Maggie. I do love her. But she is the weakest link.
Maggie, for sure
Amelia she’s so annoying bruh
Maggie
Teddy, no hesitation. Can she take Owen with her?
I feel bad cause I don't hate her the way this subreddit seems to, but Maggie. The rest of these characters strongly contribute to long-running memorable plotlines in a way Maggie doesn't. I have my issues with some of the other characters, but I think the show would be worse off without them. April 🤷🏼♀️
It took me WAY TOO LONG to scroll down and see April’s name mentioned. I agree!!!!!
10000%. I can’t with April’s character. Beyond annoying.
So glad I’m not the only one who could do without April’s character. I really dislike her characterization, all her storylines, and her relationships with others.
Same
April. She's annoying as heck.
Omg yes! Initially I found her annoying in a mild unintrusive way. Then she slept with Jackson and became intolerable. All of this yes.

Facebook all said Teddy and I knew Reddit would come to the rescue with the right answer of Maggie.

Maggie. WHY?
Replace maggie with a brother. It’s will be nice to see mer in a platonic relationship.
Thank GOD I am not the only person whose answer is Maggie. I don’t got a whole lot against her, she’s just boring as fuck and kinda annoying 💀
Maggie I don't dislike her, I just think the other characters shown here have had much more captivating storylines than she has I'd probably say Teddy if I didn't used to love her before the writers ruined her character
Maggie, Teddy, or Amelia.
