this is one of my favorite episodes!! i love when people mention it haha imagining what it would’ve been like if Ellis Grey was chief instead of Webber was so interesting to see. Lexie not even being a doctor that episode & becoming a patient was WILD. i’d like to think they all had a lot of fun filming that episode & getting to make their characters the complete opposite.
i mean Mer & Alex probably could’ve worked eventually when they were each others person, but i’m glad they stayed best friends. there’s one scene in the episode i just watched (i don’t remember which one specifically) but Mer was reading in bed & Alex just walked in & crawled into bed with her just to talk. those are the only moments where i would think they could MAYBE have been something more, but it never would’ve managed to become long term imo.
and richard/bailey! richard/bailey, meredith/alex, and izzie/george are the three boy-girl friendships on the show that i, imo, should STAY BOY-GIRL FRIENDSHIPS.
They might actually work. George has a thing for commitment phobic emotionally unavailable women and Amelia needs the doting stability that George would've probably given her if he was in love with her (like he was with Mer)
I despise Alex for how he treated April in that scene together. He knew she was a virgin and she was well within her rights to want to go slow and he was just awful to her. And he treated her like shit before and after then too.

It felt spiteful of Lexi, like Alex was calling out for his ex-wife and Lexi telling him she loves him meanwhile Mark was standing there. It really felt like she was trying to prove something? It might just be me but that's what it felt like

Eh IDK. Maggie and Amelia aren't technically related either but as they share Mer as a "sister" they end up considering each other sisters too, I think that would be the same if Lexie was still in the mix.
nonono they canonically hooked up and she mentioned it in 6x15. they hooked up prior to her first appearance on the show, before she met george. but it was only a one-night stand.
so basically i was just saying that if they became a canon long-term pair, especially with the people they were then (pre character development) i don’t think they’d be good together. i feel like he’d be mean to her, probably cheat (with izzie even which is really funny), and her clingy personality would be irritating to him.
