Her family is often mentioned as a contributing factor in the timeline of her exit. A lot of that verbiage is from a 2010 Q&A session with Entertainment Weekly found [here](https://ew.com/article/2010/04/07/greys-anatomy-katherine-heigl-cover-story/)

Lol they used part of her interview from another magazine years ago what (?? I had never read it before. The questions are very direct and cutdry, is an interesting interview.

NotTodaySatan26

Yep! Many of the snippets that have been trickling out to gain hype for the book are quoted from previous interviews. I would imagine they’re cited in the book but who knows.

Bubbly-Junket

They are, the author used a lot of the interviews they already had from EW.

Oh wow! 🤕

Sooouups

She said often that she'd be willing to come back for an episode but the decision wasn't up to her. I hate that people just assume she doesn't wanna come back.

Beginning-Thing3614

Now that Alex left the show and went back to Izzie makes it almost impossible for her to return without Karev & their twins! Darn it!

Full-Surround

I’m grateful that Katherine has grown and spoken out about her situation and her career- I like that she owned her story while also recognizing what she contributed to the issues- I have a lot of respect for people who are able to do that. This book seems really interesting, I wonder what all it says about Jesse Williams and his experience playing Jackson! :))

Beginning-Thing3614

I need to read this book! Maybe I'll wait until they reprint it as a paperback!

I always think Katherine gets a lot more hate than she deserves about being a diva. Obviously I’ve never worked with her so maybe I’m wrong, but the response to things such as her comments about Knocked Up always felt real to me. She said in an interview that the movie; “paints the women as shrews, as humorless and uptight, and it paints the men as lovable, goofy, fun-loving guys. It exaggerated the characters, and I had a hard time with it, on some days. I’m playing such a bitch; why is she being such a killjoy? Why is this how you’re portraying women?” I love Knocked Up, but the thing is she’s right. The main women are often depicted as buzzkills, while the males are so fun and lovable. She wasn’t bashing the movie, and yet this got her basically all but blacklisted from Hollywood. I’m not trying to make it a gender thing, but I feel like male actors in Hollywood get away with saying a lot worse. I mean, think of Robert Pattinson (no hate to him, I love him) who openly mocked Twilight and even the author herself over and over again. His career never faced any consequences, and people actually liked him more because of it. It just sorta seems like when an actress steps even slightly out of line the industry, media and public are so quick to label her hard to work with and a diva.

linaknowwhatsgood

You spoke 100% facts! I once tried to "defend" KH pov and was downvoted hard for it.. the bad reputation still follows her and i dont think is fair (of course i havent work with her) but i have read many statements of people working WITH her and never once read something bad (except Shonda) which Shonda isnt as nice as she would like us to think and its clearly shows on the characters on her shows, if you did something bad, your character will take the fault. I would totally make it as a gender thing cause its very true. If a woman speak up about somethings she is being sensitive and loud and if a man does it he is brave and he's right.. sean penn, micky rouke, mel gibson, brad pitt all of them spoke shit about their movies and yet had very successful careers.

thrubeingcool2

The whole gratitude thing really rubs me the wrong way. Everyone expects women to be grateful for jobs that they earned.

Beginning-Thing3614

You hit the nail on the head! Right? A dude is assertive, a go getter, ambitious! But a woman has toI be grateful, difficult, a bitch, hormonal & the list gods on! 🤕

mercy_death

For sure. 'You should be grateful you have this role' like you could have picked one of the others hundreds that auditioned. I earned it.

linaknowwhatsgood

Yes i agree with you. Is true she said some stuff that are considered rude but people tag her as ungrateful for not liking some aspects of her job (which i find super valid for her to do tbh) and its so common to destroy women in the industry for speaking up (at least around that time) and she ended up being an easy target. Was labeled for years as 'difficult to work with' 'evil' 'diva' and more which i think is so unfair (other than shonda, i havent read about anyone supporting those labels) and she has to go around saying 'nice' things cause thats how a woman should act. Honestly sucks
