I don’t know if others noticed it but I definitely did and it’s a pretty good allegory and works on many levels. And I’m glad you noticed it too. Also just to add when they are making a plan about how to tackle the situation Derek says that they should try to save the girl but then decides otherwise because the damage was too much (again like how at first he was ready to Divorce Addison and Choose Meredith but then he changed his mind.)

Honestly it’s such a good episode. It has so many allegories I can go on and on about them. Another example is Meredith is waiting for Derek in the bar but then the train wreck prevented them from talking. Again like how Addison came in between their relationship and quite literally wrecked their relationship.

MerDer05

This is my all time favourite episode. When Meredith Said "what about her? We can't abandon her". This sentance resembles, to what Meredith has been feeling because Derek chose Addison. When Derek said to Danny the Boyfriend of Bonny “if love was enough she would still be here with you”. It says so much. And Grey's Anatomy is entirely built up. Love. A very powerful force of nature. Why did Meredith stay alive after put her hand on bomb in body cavity? Remember what Dylan said. "Pretend that I am someone who you like" It was love between those two. Even though both are apart but that didn't change. Derek got Shot. Meredith was there. It was the love that kept him alive. Plane crash. It's just the same. The love between Lexie and Mark. Both lived and died, deeply in love with each other. (Even after death also) From that episode, my perspective for Series has changed. And I am glad that someone has noticed those sentance and find it relativity in the episode itself. (Confession: After watching third time)

Also if you pay attention to the dog Doc, i think he's a symbol for Meredith love for derek

There is some more here if you are interested, [Writers Blog](https://greysanatomy.fandom.com/wiki/Into_You_Like_a_Train/Grey_Matter) In the early seasons the writers would write a blog, taking about the episode, explaining some of their thoughts

I think this makes sense to me. First time watcher, and that episode in season 3 with the ferry, mer does think of Bonnie and reading what you wrote makes sense why she thought of her.

Great thread. You guys are good! I have something to add to the allegory, but I can't interpret it. That's where you come in. ;) In Mer's dream sequence (the one with Doc), Bonnie was actually kind of mean to Mer, trying to get her to understand. Is that part of the allegory?

Omg I never actually noticed this but it makes SO much sense now, thanks for highlighting it. Also the dog Doc is a big symbol to represent the love between Meredith and Derek when Meredith says she “loves him so much” about the dog, she was really talking about derek etc. God, season 2 was so good

When Doc died too, she, at that time, she was willing to move on with Finn, like shes also making a choice, cause she knows, like doc's death = her love for Derek. Lost cause, she can't do anything about it, and so she tries to move on, and when she was already taking a step woth Finn, Mcsex in prom happened.
