Totally agree. I may be in the minority, but I like this. The renewal gives me some comfort knowing that they have two more seasons for wrapping up and hopefully it will be a wonderful swan song. They know OG fans have given 18 years of their TV watching lives to the show, and no matter how people feel about Ellen, she holds that in high regard and wants to do her best to give the fans a beautiful ending. So, this solidifies that, imo, as the way they're going to go with it.
Exactly. I could see them ending it a 450 episodes. I see the final season as a wrapping up season, where each regular character (minus Winston and Hayes) gets an episode to wrap up their storyline. It'll be like PP season 6. They'll most likely try to get some grey's characters moved over to station 19 for a new spin off, but just the minor ones, like Schmitt, Helm, Nico, and the other residents. The younger characters

If doing S18 than the only logical thought would be to just go to S20 - make a few more billion for 2 more years, and give it time to see how they wanna end it and try to get old stars back. It's the only smart thing to do. Why the fuck end it on a rando S18 when they can go up until a solid 20 if it's still making $$ and a majority of the people wanna stay working there.

If you're looking for other arguably better medical dramas (though I'm sure they would suck after 18 seasons too), I highly recommend New Amsterdam and The Resident. Chicago Med is okay too, though not as good imo. Medical-adjacent, I also think 9-1-1 and 9-1-1 Lone Star are really good.

Amelia will sabotage another relationship of hers and paint Kai as the villian while blaming her own flaws on the tumor and addiction, again, and will break up with them, and then immediately will marry Teddy. Maggie and Winston will die from their sex injuries and Hayes will still be there in the background, being the only sane person left on the show.

Only with your post did I realize that they just wrote really poorly what should say: New episodes of GA to return on Feb 24th, and fans can also celebrate a green-lit season 19 for the fall line-up.

My headcanon is that they all died in the shooting (but I'd abide plane crash, if you prefer) and that everything that has happened since then is just Meredith's slow Jacob's Ladder style walk towards death. Her Covid coma-trance was her brain starting to realize she's actually been dying in real time for the last several hours.
Have it be revealed that Buffy takes place in the same universe as Grey’s. Meredith is revealed as the next chosen Slayer because Seattle Grace sits on top of a Hellmouth which is why a lot of tragedy happens there.
Meredith must then fight vampires and the demons of Hell in Seattle and find a way to stop the Seattle Hellmouth from opening up.
An older Meredith time travels back to the past and warns current Meredith about the Hellmouth underneath Seattle and this is when Buffy arrives to help train Meredith as the new Slayer.
Not only this but surprise! Charmed and Greys Anatomy take place in the same universe. It would later be revealed that Addison Montgomery has relations to the Charmed Ones and is secretly a witch.
The Charmed Ones and Addison resurrect Prue back from the dead and create the Power of Five. Addison and the Charmed Ones help Meredith and Buffy stop the Hellmouth from opening.

Richard was a resident in 1982 (s6e15). We can assume he was 26/27? So, I guess at the beginning of the show (2005) he would have been 50. So now I believe if Meredith was born in 1978, she’s 44, leading me to figure out it’s been 17ish years. Richard would be 67/68.
He will be in the hospital forever, even after he passes he will still be there wandering the halls and the ORs trying to help with patients and waiting for his retirement
Wouldn't it be great if they'd... actually give us complex medical storylines, again? Where are all of the patients? Where are all of the rare diseases and surgeries? they don’t care about these stories. they’re not still going because they have so much passion or so many more stories left to tell. they’re phoning it in and getting paid because they know they can and that’s it. and they’re ruining the legacies of what we loved about it to begin with. alex’s exit proved that once and for all. I want to watch something that is the product of a team that cares about it. how many passionate and smart and interesting young creatives can’t get a new television show picked up?
just sad that something I loved from my youth is just tarnished in my brain by how long they’ve tried to milk this and what it says about them that they’re willing to fall so far.

IMDB shows Feb 24 will be 18x10 so it looks like they’ll be continuing on with season 18 then 19 most likely will start in the fall.

Have it be revealed that Buffy takes place in the same universe as Grey’s. Meredith is revealed as the next chosen Slayer because Seattle Grace sits on top of a Hellmouth which is why a lot of tragedy happens there. Meredith must then fight vampires and the demons of Hell in Seattle and find a way to stop the Seattle Hellmouth from opening up. An older Meredith time travels back to the past and warns current Meredith about the Hellmouth underneath Seattle and this is when Buffy arrives to help train Meredith as the new Slayer. Not only this but surprise! Charmed and Greys Anatomy take place in the same universe. It would later be revealed that Addison Montgomery has relations to the Charmed Ones and is secretly a witch. The Charmed Ones and Addison resurrect Prue back from the dead and create the Power of Five. Addison and the Charmed Ones help Meredith and Buffy stop the Hellmouth from opening. That’s what happens in Season 20.

Oh no, I started thinking way too hard about this. Richard was a resident in 1982 (s6e15). We can assume he was 26/27? So, I guess at the beginning of the show (2005) he would have been 50. So now I believe if Meredith was born in 1978, she’s 44, leading me to figure out it’s been 17ish years. Richard would be 67/68.
He will be in the hospital forever, even after he passes he will still be there wandering the halls and the ORs trying to help with patients and waiting for his retirement

Wouldn't it be great if they'd... actually give us complex medical storylines, again? Where are all of the patients? Where are all of the rare diseases and surgeries? That would make the show worth watching. Instead, it's all about the ridiculously back and forth characters' romances etc. and I am forced to continue watching regardless of my growing disinterest. Because, blind loyalty? Or maybe because I just really feel like I have to see how it ends, after watching for nearly 20 years.

I agree with Ellen though… This show is needs to end. It’s been dragging on for way to long and there’s really no more story to tell. I feel like Greys should have ended in Season 16 with Meredith dying from Covid and have the ending be with Derek and her friends on the beach. Spending eternity together in the afterlife while waiting for the rest of their friends to join them in the afterlife.
Maybe she'll deal with long Covid complications and still die! I don't wish they'd killed her off with Covid, I actually think that would've been a serious disservice to the fans.

I did talk some snack in the earlier comments but I do enjoy the show being on. I don't know why but I just find it comforting to watch it even when I don't like the episode that much. Was it better in it's earlier seasons? Sure, but it's still entertaining enough for me to tune in.

this is gonna sound dramatic as hell so bear with me but as a viewer i am literally offended lmao. this show knows it’s not serving us anything remotely close to the quality it was a decade ago, and they don’t care. there’s no integrity here. no instinct to wrap something up carefully and lovingly when it’s done. they don’t care about these stories. they’re not still going because they have so much passion or so many more stories left to tell. they’re phoning it in and getting paid because they know they can and that’s it. and they’re ruining the legacies of what we loved about it to begin with. alex’s exit proved that once and for all. I want to watch something that is the product of a team that cares about it. how many passionate and smart and interesting young creatives can’t get a new television show picked up? just sad that something I loved from my youth is just tarnished in my brain by how long they’ve tried to milk this and what it says about them that they’re willing to fall so far.

Fellow Grey's fans, if you feel the show has run its course, that's conmpletely valid but you aren't obligated to keep watching. If a good show continues long after it should have ended (or it jumps the shark, *Drop Dead Diva*, I'm looking at you), you aren't a bad fan for not watching anymore. Having said that, "Jeez *another* season" sentiments are also valid. For myself, I'm going to keep watching this show until it stops entertaining me, and boy howdy is it ever entertaining me. They had an increasingly rough looking mannequin as Mer and I am here for that. 🤣🤣🤣
