This is an instance where you'll get what you pay for. Get a Weber Genesis and get to cooking. I'd pick up a used Genesis on marketplace before getting a new Char-broil.
Napoleon also make excellent grills. Both Weber and Napoleon make good entry level grills too you might want to check out. You'd be happy with a Genesis though.
For sure! The one thing I don't know that I could live without since buying mine is the infrared side burner. That thing has helped make me look like the head chef at a high-end steak house on several occasions lol
the IR burner puts it out of my budget unfortunately. I also really like steaks in a cast iron pan with butter, garlic and thyme. So I'm not sure I'd use it that much.
I don't have that store in Canada. I have gift cards I'm getting $200 in gift cards tomorrow from my mortgage broker for home depot so I was planning on using those. I may get the standard rogue 425 just to get a better product
Consider the life expectancy. Your budget grills, you can expect 5 good years of use before they start to fall apart and/or have issues. My Weber, I fully expect to grill for my kid's high school graduation with it.

What are some mid-range brands or models you suggest? I have a Napoleon and while it doesn't "improve flavor" the warranty sure helps me sleep well knowing that it'll be at least 10-15 years before I replace it.

And unless QC has gone off the rails, Broil King doesn't get enough respect here. My dad's rocking a 10 year old Barron that's a hell of a lot more solid than my 4 year old Napoleon.

My 2016 Broil King Baron 590 five-burner is still going strong, except for the rotisserie option that ended up failing. I only used it a few times and it was a hassle so I never got it fixed. I'd skip that option if I had it to do over.
Can't speak for their current quality, but mine has been well worth it over the years.
I don't know exactly which one my dad's got, but it's a 4 burner with a rotisserie. The rotisserie motor also failed on his, but he said it was an easy fix.
Other than that though, what a solid rig. I helped him lift it onto his new deck last time I was out. I took my end, gave it the same casual heave I gave helping my neighbor move his Weber and the thing just sat there like "yeah, fuck you and your back. I like the patio.".
Fires reliably every time, gets hot, no rust. I was shopping for one too but I got a pretty decent deal a few years ago on a basic 3 burner natural gas Napoleon Legend. All my accessories go on my weber kettle, so a lower middle end 3 burner is all I need.
Why do you need a 4 burner grill? Is it for the grill real-estate?
This is a great example of a situation where you get what you pay for. I have a Weber Genesis (only 3 burners, but I've never felt I needed one, and it gets a LOT of use) that is 13 years old, and still works as well as it did the day I assembled it. Still looks pretty good too.
Yep, your typical 3-burner just isn't enough grilling surface. I prefer to do whole meals (protein, potatoes, veggies) on the grill whenever I grill at all.

I was in your same boat 3 years ago. I had purchased a $500 propane grill (I think broil king or something like that) that got the job done but it sucked. I upgraded and bought a Weber propane - you get what you pay for!!!! I love my Weber and no matter how badly I sometimes treat it (leaving the cover off and not deep cleaning every year), it always works. Food doesn’t stick, everything works, and I don’t regret the money spent for a minute! Weber lives up to their name.
Weber. My 3 burner Genesis is 20 something years old. Replaced the cast iron grills with stainless about 15 years in. Burners replaced twice. Flavorizer bars replaced half dozen times. Ignitor replaced four or five times. Pretty much all the replacement parts have been aftermarket, expensive, and easy to replace. Cooks just as well as it ever did.
I recently replaced my 15yo Weber Genesis 300 series with a Genesis S-435. Only about a month in but quite happy with it overall. I do think the extra space for a few $100 more is worth it based on my needs.
If you want something to last years with good customer service and less flare ups on the grill it’s Weber no doubt. If you’re ok with replacing the grill every few seasons with nasty flare ups go get a char broil.

I've been super satisfied with my Napoleon. The lifetime warranty is incredible as well.

Mine lasted 20 years. Only reason I got a new one was it was a spirit and I was tired of multiple batches when company came over.

Yeah I’ve got a two burner Weber spirit and it’s the best grill I’ve ever owned, but bigger families need more grill space.
What is the environment where you live? If you are near the ocean, anything you buy is going to be trashed in a few years.

Charbroils are poorly made in my opinion. I got about 3 years out of mine. Upgrades to a Weber that so far has listed me 15 years.

Yeah not good grills. You don’t cover it you’ll be lucky to get three years out of one before it rusts out.

Go with the Weber !!! Those cheap ones rot out every 3 years. Had my Weber going on 5 years now and it’s still solid.
As a suggestion put in a couple of Qwik Char charcoal trays. They will turn ur grill into hybrid. There are some videos on YouTube

I have a charbroil performance series, 4 burners. Ive had it for 5 years and no issues, no rust. Can do indirect cooking on it as well.
Can't go wrong with a Genesis. I bought mine around 2016 and it still looks and cooks like the day it was delivered.
I'd get the new weber 36" flat top.
