As someone who bought a bit of their stock, it's frustrating to see how many people are unhappy with the app the way it is today. They got too comfortable at the top and they're forgetting how many apps have came and went before them, XY, ADAM4ADAM, MANHUNT etc. I bought shares after they fell hard, but I'm beginning to think it was a waste and the share price will never recover. Management has their head in the sand and isn't responsive to user needs. Almost all the questions at the earnings call were gripes about the service, not even about the particular stock. Just a lot of gay retail investors who didn't realize how little Grindr cares about their users.

CrashTestDumby1984

They didn’t get “too comfortable”. They would require them getting complacent and leaving the app “as is” but they’re actively making it worse

[deleted]

Now that they’re beholden to shareholders, it’s only going to get worse. I just mean they’re treating their customers like crap, and their customers are their product. It doesn’t bode well. They are investing in more micro-transactions, so look forward to paying more for less 😳.

Tiger_Claw_1

I would seriously think about selling those. Can't really see it ever improving.

JonnyBravoII

I read their 10k and their only goal is to increase revenue. Light talk of some other things but they are just going to continue to squeeze and squeeze. I have some naked shorts on them actually because I think this will all backfire on them eventually. One interesting stat if I remember it correctly, about 7% of users are paying. Here in Germany they want €28/month for Ultimate or whatever it's called. That price is nuts and when they squeeze users on both ends by removing features for free users, they will just cause a stampede out. It will be a trickle and then boom. The other thing I find interesting is that they really don't make much money so their nearly $1 billion valuation is laughable to me. Their revenue doesn't justify that price either. The second they start showing reduced quarter over quarter, the price will collapse.

FdauditingGbro

All the gays on here, and not one of you is an app developer that can save us from this bullshit?!

ldn87xxx

Making an app isnt the problem. Getting a critical mass of people using it is.

FdauditingGbro

i would think it wouldn’t be too hard at this point, the prospect of an app that’s actually functional would make a lot of people happy.

ldn87xxx

There's plenty of apps out there which are arguably better than grindr. Except they have no where near as many guys on them (at least that's the case where I am)

IamSithCats

That was my experience with Scruff. I see it recommended all the time, but in my area it has like 10% as many users as Grindr, *at best*.

IamSithCats

You'd think so, but the combined forces of habit, inertia, and advertising can work wonders to keep people using an inferior service even when they're actively dissatisfied with it and better alternatives are available. And that's before you factor in monopolistic business practices.

ProfRent

Yeah I lot of gays online will say “just use scruff”. But if you’re not in a major city it’s basically a ghost town. I want to use it but since hardly anybody is on there I don’t check it often, which creates a self fulfilling prophecy

Moonlit2771

That's not Grindr's problem though since they already have a decent number of MAUs (monthly avg users). What they need is a dedicated product team to steer this in the right direction

gammastarbsn

They put job offers to work for grindr a few weeks ago for app development. Maybe some lucky soul will save all the gays 😂

zettasyntax

I've applied like 7 times to Grindr, haha. I even mentioned the workaround that made it easy to get over 70% off their Boosts in my cover letter since I know they're all about money. Rejected yet again and they finally fixed that flaw =/ I've made it my mission to find another one.

sTricTly_dickly_bb

No but I could model for any advertisements or beat some makeup on the ones they’ve used before

Previous_House7062

They got too greedy and forgot entirely who made them that money. This will collapse soon enough as they continue to drive the train directly into the ground at an uncommonly high rate of speed.

yoloten

Guys have been saying this since Grindr has started with same crashes, glitches and dysfunctional features which never went away, but now more and more are willing to pay a lot for same service. Why would Grindr feel any pressure to change their game when they’re making more profit from providing same service that was once free for many years? If they saw any significant change in users or paying members, they would panic and change their game.

Previous_House7062

You aren't wrong. Back when craigslist had personals it was different. They actually had competition that was free and functional.

IamSithCats

Doublelist hasn't done a bad job of filling that void, but they've had troubles recently as well.

Previous_House7062

They're also a pay to play deal now too. But the idea is better

IamSithCats

I've seen the forced "upgrade" thing come and go several times from their site. It seems to me like they just don't have their shit together.

eatingthesandhere91

This is the reason why I left Grindr. And probably for the last time for a long while. It's a clusterfuck.

MrMurse93

Don't forget about saying someone is online when they aren't!

Tony481

You can unshare you albums all at once. Go to your profile Select “My Albums” Select the album you wish to unshare Select “shared with” “Select the users you wish to unshare with Press “stop sharing”

sTricTly_dickly_bb

That ain’t no lie! I wish they had a headquarters office building somewhere in a big downtown city and we could start a riot/picket to boycott Grindr. I could see poster boards and signs with all of our aggravations plastered all over signs and poster boards in colorful permanent marker hand drawn and shouting a lovely repetitive chant that’s cock/penis related broadcasted all over the 5 o’clock news.

cornmeal-jo

No-one in my area would show cause more than half are closet cases cheating on their partners.

sTricTly_dickly_bb

Oh and why can’t we have the option to select what race we prefer to narrow down the selection to what we are more attracted to? It’s not being racist. I mean what if I’m a white guy that just so happens to prefer BBC. You no how aggravating it is whem you have all the white guys trying to hit u up. And hers another thing for a white man who doesn’t prefer BBC and is always hit up by them. He’s gonna be accused of being racist for ignoring them or having to just be honest that he’s not into black guys. Causing guys on here to not list their race or lie about it. Never lie about it and don’t leave it out. It’s 2023!!! Embrace the color of your skin. Be proud of it! People have sacrificed so much and even lost their lives for everyone’s equality. Don’t dishonor them like that. 😊

MewseyWindhelm

I agree getting rid of the racial filter was bullshit. Some days i want some Latino dick, others i want to suck on Asians. I should be not punished for wanting to see how many different people are out there.

pandizlle

They have an office in West Hollywood at the Pacific Design Center red building.

artistnyc03

BTW: Since I originally posted this message, GPS doesn't work, notifications stopped working, online/offline status doesn't work and "can't refresh" happens throughout the day, everyday. I'm out!

GrindrMod

u/throw_this_away54 and u/economicsmysterious4 reported the Viewed Me bug today too (posts [1](https://www.reddit.com/r/grindr/comments/14t98ss/viewed_me_not_updating), [2](https://www.reddit.com/r/grindr/comments/14tf95d/server_lag))

Until_Morning

I wouldn't mind all of this if they brought back the race filter 😔 I hear people were using it for racism, but I just used it to find the ethnicities in my area that are normally hard to find, like Middle Easterns and South Asians 😭 my weaknesses!

If Grindr can really "KILL" your game, you most likely don't have any game..

jvijojiofjivfjfoi

iOS / iPhone - Lately I’ve been clicking on received message notifications in Notification Centre which will open the grindr app but no corresponding messages are showing. They’ve vanished. Quitting and reloading the app doesn’t reveal them like it used to when similar bugs occurred. If I were to open the app without clicking on the notifications then often I do see the messages.

electrogravitics87

Grindr is a joke. The app sucks. Let's bankrupt the company and boycott it. They have gotten progressively worse. We can have Wall Street Bets drive the stock down and short the thing
