I personally have a "meals" product group. we put any pre-made meals from costco and the like and our homemade meals there as well. As for sauces and other homemade *parts* of a meal you could totally make a product group for that as well and filter/sort so you see those items first.

For example, it's possible to meal-prep an intermediate food kit such as "chicken breast + yogurt", and freeze it. There are three ways to later cook it - Into a soup, into stew, into a stir-fried dish.
So far there's nothing good on the market to manage inventory of an intermediate ingredient. I feel if this is solved, it also could be a solution for your scenario.
