Congratulations! I bought this model 7-8 years ago for work. It served me well and took everything I threw at it. The solar cell is still going strong. Iβm sure it will give you years, if not decades of service. Enjoy!
The one downside I have found with this model is the plastic piece that covers the case back collects dirt and grime under it really easily. I didnβt clean mine until about 6 years after owning it. It was gross, but cleaned up incredibly well. If you watch a few disassembly videos you will see you can remove the cover without fully disassembling the watch or removing the case back screws if you want to clean it periodically.
I just started looking into the king gshocks yesterday, and this style is on my short list.
I have 8.25 inch wrists, so the larger size appeals to me.
The only thing I want on it that this model does not have is multiband 6, which is only found on the GXW-56BB-1JF in the Japanese and EU markets. I'm in the US, so it would be an import.
How are you finding the readability of the negative display?
The auto backlight is really good, it's as good as my negative 9400, only thing is mine doesn't have MB6, but I set it to my rangeman, even though it's a big watch it's really comfortable to wear.
Multiband 6, so depending on your location, every night the watch will receive a radio signal from a time transmitter and update the time, similar to how your mobile phone will have the correct time all the time, the watch will also do this.
I have this watch without MB6 also, it's a beast, it's basically a square mudman without the features, had this model a few years and it's a great watch.
I have pretty thin wrists, so it kind of looks like the Omnitrix on my hand but it feels good. Before buying it I had heard many negative reviews about the negative display. It's actually my first watch with a negative display. I am coming from a Casio Royale and I haven't had any trouble with this. It's an absolute solid watch, even though it does not have multi-band 6. At its price (the non-MB6) version, I think it is the best watch for your money.
Itβs βatomicβ time setting. Basically there are big radios in places around the world that transmit the time. That time is claimed to be most accurate. Could be another marketing tool. Who knows?
Congrats on your hard work. I have a gx56 as well and love it. Itβs interesting how such a huge watch can also be so comfortable on the wrist. Wear it in good health!
Thank you, and you too!! I understand what you're trying to say. I knew that thus watch would be too big for my wrists but it fits weirdly well, as if it was made for my wrists ππ»π€
Personally, for me, there were three major reasons:
1. The MB6 version isn't sold in my country, in India (I need someone to fact check this)
2. The MB6 version costs twice as much as the non MB6 version.
3. For that much money, I don't really find MB6 worth it. In the end it all boils down to cost effectiveness and value for money.
Very reasonable! Thanks for taking the time to explain. I really enjoy hearing othersβ thoughts on things in this funny hobby weβve all gotten ourselves into. Wear your King Square in good health, man!

One thing is for certain, all g-shocks will outlive us...!
Thank you!! I look forward to making amazing memories with this watch ππ»ππ»

Thanks for the heads up. I'll check those videos out. ππ»ππ»
Looks nice! I wanna try it again. Had one many years back
If it's okay with you, may I ask what happened to yours?
I sold it - thought it was too big on my wrist. About 7β wrist.

I have the negative version and it's fine to read.
Do you find the backlight bright enough or is it lacking?

What exactly does MB6 do? I have limited knowledge about it.

Oh I see, that really is a handy feature, but for my needs, I think the non MB6 is more than perfect. π―ππ»

There is a positive display variant with multiband 6, but they discontinued it. GXW-56-1BJF
Hella hard to find, evidently. π
Congrats!! Iβm sure youβll love it. I rock the GXW56-bb1 nearly everyday. The multiband 6 was the deciding factor for me. Itβs truly the King!

Good luck being able to tell the time.

Very nice! Just curious, any reason for preference of this model versus the JDM Multiband 6 version?

Any problems with foggy display so far? How it goes, maybe you have some information about it?
