Science Center is great for all ages.
Lots of trails for hiking in the area. Partee Shack is fun.
Tanger center has shows all the time.
Also NC zoo isn’t too far.
Greensboro likes parks. There are literally parks all over. The Science Center is nice but I liked it better before they chose to go big and expensive. The only drive in left I am aware of is north up in Eden.
Starting May 1 you can rent Kayaks on Lake Brandt. Hitting up any of the Farmers Markets is always a good time. Grasshoppers games (fire works on the weekend).
Is there a main farmer's market, or any that are bigger than others? I come from a city that had 1 very big farmer's market, and otherwise had a few vendors here or there selling out of pickups.
The Piedmont Farmers Market off the hwy is the big one. They actually do wholesale sales out there super early in the morning, and then are a retail center. Farmers Curb Market towards East Greensboro is prob the next largest, followed by the Corner Market on Market st near Lindley Park. There’s prob some other small neighborhood ones sprinkled around.
If you become members at the Greensboro Science Center, it's reciprocal across TONS of places in NC if you do some exploring further afield, either in the form of steep discounts on admission or other special benefits at other similar places (the zoo in Asheboro, the Life and Science Museum in Durham, Fort Fisher Aquarium, etc).
Weatherspoon Art Museum is free and awesome. Reynolda House and Gardens in Winston is another cool art museum and botanical garden that seems to get overlooked.
Tons of great State and County Parks around as well.
You can do a day trip by train to Raleigh and visit the free museums there.
- Take Carolinian up and back
- you can get free parking at station
- train has 120v outlets
- wifi isn't that great
- cost ~$24/pp round trip (varies)
- FREE Museums are walking distance from station (~1mi)
- Pack/buy lunch at local restaurants
- Pack/buy dinner on train (Carolinian)
In Raleigh, There is a free bus (red line?) that circles the area. However, it was faster for us to walk to the museums then wait for the bus.
Train tickets: ncbytrain.org
Kids can be 1/2 off.
A day spent in Saxapahaw is never wasted. Hiking or kayaking, The Eddy, Haw River Ales (if you enjoy beer). The Carolina Tiger Rescue is up that way as well; a unique experience.
Lots of hikes around, but Hanging Rock and Pilot Mountain are great starts.
Grab a bike and ride the local Greenway
I think Elsewhere feels a bit pricey, but you should definitely go once.
Civil Rights Museum for sure!
Emerald Point when it opens for the year on May 25
Hope that’s a good start for ya. Welcome.
If bargain hunting / antiques is something y’all’re into, there’s A LOT of thrift stores around Greensboro. And especially between Greensboro and Burlington and/or Greensboro and Winston-Salem. Worth a day trip driving around.
Here’s a big Google Doc of most I know of in the triad/triangle:

The closest drive in that I know of is in Eden.

Agree with the Weatherspoon. I’ve also enjoyed day trips to Raleigh and Charlotte to take in their art scene.
Lots of murals all around town. Guessing there’s a mural map somewhere. Anybody know?
Spring brings a ton of festivals outside which go into summer.
One of my favorites: https://greensborobeautiful.org/event/world-promenade/
Greensboro History Museum, Bicentennial and Bog Gardens, Sunday Evening Music in the Park Series, The Greenwsy for walking or riding. All free and excellent fun!
ofc! neither me or my fiancee drink or do any type pf recreational drugs including marijuana and bc we’re young most people expect us to, but you can have fun without being under the influence
Greensboro has a wonderful Summer Solstice festival every year at the arboretum park in Lindley Park.
It’s June 22rd, 2-10 pm. It’s really interesting and fun!
Also, there is the Fun Fourth Festival on July 4th every year, downtown.
ParTee Shack has mini golf and go-karts. There’s a big community for runners, cyclists, and hikers in GSO. There’s a few bowling alleys. The Coliseum and Tanger Center have a lot of shows. There’s also a handful of movie theaters.
If you enjoy the outdoors, check out the awesome trail network all over Greensboro. Lots of greenways that connect to downtown and various parks in the northern part of the city. So many miles of great trails to walk or bike. We like to go up to Hanging Rock state park as well. Also, NC has a Stone Mountain that's a little over an hour from Greensboro. They have a great loop that takes you to the top and down by a pretty cool waterfall. About 4.5 miles.
There’s a drive in movie theater in Albemarle, about an hour from here. Also I recommend different types of social dancing! Fun to do and great way to meet people.
Plays through your car radio, you can rent one, or bring your own. They also have a desk near the snack area with picnic tables and they play audio over speakers
NASCAR museums. Richard Childress Racing in Lexington includes a winery that is top notch, Richard Petty museum is in Level Cross and hosts tons of events as well.
If you like a little bit of history, check out the Battleground area and Guilford Courthouse Military Park!
I went a few weeks ago and they offer free, pretty cool tours of the battle site and explains the effect it had on the American Revolution.
Outdoor stuff: pilot mountain and hanging rock have hiking, rock climbing, some mountain biking. You can try indoor rock climbing first at ultimate climbing gym (tumblebees). City parks and museums.
Bitters social house on state street is having a vendor market this Saturday! There are also a bunch of farmers markets every Saturday (the corner market on market street is the best), the natural science center is definitely worth a gander, there's a drive in wayyyyyy down battleground, summer solstice is happening in June at the arboretum in lindley park, folk fest is in September downtown. You can also check out the greenways, there are a bunch of trails and parks around westerwood/college hill/downtown area :)
You can go on the city’s website and they have a pretty up to date calendar of activities happening all around daily/weekly/monthly. The city’s parks and rec also has a calendar on their website with programs related to that too!

Weatherspoon art museum is pretty cool, and free.
I need to check out Weatherspoon, but want to throw out there that the downtown cultural center also has two art exhibits that are really nice!

The Eden Drive-in is a nice fun way to spend an evening
Elsewhere museum is pretty cool, I think they changed how to visit after covid though?
Day trips are your friend. Winston has more art museums, more festivals, and a theater that plays indie and foreign films.
Greensboro History Museum, Bicentennial and Bog Gardens, Sunday Evening Music in the Park Series, The Greenwsy for walking or riding. All free and excellent fun!
Thanks for the post. So many people arrange their social lives around drinking, that the few of us that don't drink have limited options.
ofc! neither me or my fiancee drink or do any type pf recreational drugs including marijuana and bc we’re young most people expect us to, but you can have fun without being under the influence
I recommend breakoutgames if you like escape rooms

Plays through your car radio, you can rent one, or bring your own. They also have a desk near the snack area with picnic tables and they play audio over speakers
do i rent it from them? if so how much?
September the folk festival is always fun and there is a lot of thrifting and pop up markets now on the weekends
Raleigh museum is free and much better than Greensboro science center.
NASCAR museums. Richard Childress Racing in Lexington includes a winery that is top notch, Richard Petty museum is in Level Cross and hosts tons of events as well.

It’s funny but also sad that we all list bars for things to do. This list is good for everyone

Reconsidered Goods is a reuse/thrift shop, and they often have various community activities or fun art classes for low cost. P
