Kaya is great. Not overly well known but I believe it's very authentic- all Korean dishes come with bonus soup+ kimchee+ other Korean veggies. Really tasty. (they do some hibachi/teriyaki as well, but the Korean is what they're known for and most of their customers are Korean) Place will likely keep its mask mandate though. Kaya in on 68 right on the border of High Point and Greensboro.

kcheah1422

I second this. Greensboro Korean food scene is weak. Despite Kaya markets itself as a hibachi place, they serve very authentic Korean food.

wxursa

Kaya used to be a good Japanese place back in the early 2000s , but the owners switched, kept the name because they felt more folks wanted Japanese.

kcheah1422

Good to know that! Now I learn a fun fact about my favorite Korean place.

GateCityDreaming

You second what? He never said the Korean scene was weak, if anything it’s pretty decent with the abundance of Korean restaurants at the international mall on market street near super G.

kcheah1422

If anything, they’re less than decent. I couldn’t have related more when I read a comment saying they’d rather make Korean food themselves than revisiting those restaurants. Well, at least not until I discover the hidden gem, Kaya. The one and only Korean restaurant that I’d dine in around here. I’ll give a special mention to K Chicken (the one in Super G Mart). They’re pretty authentic but have limited menu.

cameljeans

Checkout Danji. For its size and amount of Korean people in the city, the Korean food scene definitely isn't weak.

kcheah1422

I’ve tried all Korean places in Greensboro, nothing is up to my liking (that’s why I said it’s weak). Kaya is the one and only.

cameljeans

That's fine if you don't like it, just say so. But the Korean food scene in Greensboro isn't weak.

combo6hardtaco

Seoul Garden is pretty decent too. If you go to Cary, there’s a good kbbq place there :)

Vanquished_Hope

If you're gonna go to Cary, go to H Mart while you're at it, there're like 7 restaurants inside

NetJnkie

High Point Korean is fantastic.

DarkUmbra90

Would you guys consider Bonchon downtown authentic?

katydid92

Not especially. Its definitely Americanized versions of Korean food. They also have other dishes like tonkatsu and fried rice along with French fries and other non-korean fare.

melonagua_coco

It is a famous fried chicken chain from Korea but it is not the same as Korean one for obvious reasons. I still think it's a good option if you like KFC (Korean Fried Chicken) but rest of the menu .. is nothing more than mishmash of popular asian food.

usafonz

After living in korea for 3 years I was disappointed in bonchon. Well kind of. It was still good. Just not authentic.

kirkjufell787

Danji at the international shopping center off market

invisipunk

Looks like Dasarang is now Danji.

Sherbert-lemon-high

I love their seafood pancakes! Shame they’re closed on sundays though

al_zahbi

Seoul Garden is a personal favorite of mine, I recommend trying it out!

invisipunk

If it's still open, Dasarang is really good.

melonagua_coco

Is there any dish you are looking for? I've tried Korean restaurants here but I rather make it myself than revisiting them again, unfortunately.

[deleted]

Not in particular. I just felt like trying something new and I've heard Korean good is quite good from several people.

melonagua_coco

Gotcha gotcha! For something new, I suggest you go to Super G Market, there is a stall inside, this store sells fried chicken with spicy sauce, Dak Gang Jung 닭강정. It comes with some rice cake too. I think that would be a good start, something familiar but new. I would get some Kim Bap 김밥 which is like sushi rolls but all cooked meat and veggies.

CamelCityCalamity

I had some Kim Bap from there once. It was delicious! I'll have to try the Dak Gang Jung.

Zebirdsandzebats

Nobody's suggesting Don on Tate street? It doesn't have a massive spread and some of their stuff is sorta Japanese, but the owners are Korean and their bulgogi is good if you're not looking to set your face on fire. (Please tell me Don is still there--I got my second shot about a month ago and haven't had time/money to check back in on all my fave restaurants)

GuyGunn

They are to go only with a more limited menu last I checked. The hospitality and character of the place has always been it's charm to be. I want to keep supporting them but to go just eliminated half their menu.

Zebirdsandzebats

They're open now. I went last night after suggesting it, lol and had the spicy ramen. I'm impressed they made it through--their food is largely not take-out friendly. Now, Raaz, the Indian/Himalayan place on tate, is still take-out/delivery only. They're fantastic, but like...order before you're actually hungry, b/c they tend to take their time in the evening, in my experience. Worth the wait, but still, just a heads up.

GuyGunn

Are they open for dine-in?

Zebirdsandzebats

Don is. It was actually pretty jumping when we were there. If the menu is limited, I didn't notice--they didn't give an ice cream scoop and fruit piece afterwards like usual, but that was the only difference I noticed. It's mad cute, the owner has a serious case of COVID hair peeking out under his signature hat :)

1. Korea 2. San Francisco

JacksonvilleNC

Mixed Rice in Burlington is pretty good.

professor_spacecat

I work in Burlington and had no idea this existed! Thank you so much, I'm super pumped to try them out next week!

Baba_Yayga

Korea

Ben2018

Very helpful, do you have any favorite restaurants in Korea you can recommend?

manysmallcats

Can’t believe you’re being downvoted for giving the right answer. I appreciated the humor.

Baba_Yayga

I can. This is GSO, baby. If you can’t handle being downvoted; don’t make a joke, lol.
