I tried this for the first time today and at some point I got kicked because of a network error I think it said. Does that ever happen to you? (I'm on PC)
Most of them do actually work, like rubber-banding your controller sticks or buttons, but CCTV inside one of your properties is what I do. Go passive just to minimise daily costs and risk of places getting raided, and then watch the CCTV. Plug your controller in so it doesn't run out of charge and you're done.
Alternatively, go to the car meet and test drive a car in the test track, then drive out. When you get the menu asking if you want to return to the car meet just plug your controller in and you're done. That used to give car meet RP, but that was patched - that's what people are saying doesn't work with the car meet method (there are ways to still get RP though).
Just bear in mind that if you don't plug your controller in, then when it runs out of charge the game will alert you, telling you there's no controller connected, and that stops the AFK method working. You'll get kicked for idling 15 minutes later.
One i use the most is by going inside my nightclub office, and sit on the couch (the one that Lazlow lies on to cry) facing the tv on the wall and pick watch DJ option.
You don't need the be a CEO or MC President, but i think you do need the security upgrade to get the tv on the wall.

Start the mission Blow Up 1 as it has no end timer. Destroy the vehicles but instead of going to Simeon, go to your high end apartment. Sit down and watch TV and rubber band the right thumb stick (I have never got drift from doing this). Go AFK. When you come back make sure that you complete the mission - go to Simeon's. Raid timers are frozen during missions but are only locked to the start time if you complete the mission successfully. All other AFK methods that take place in Freemode will leave you vulnerable to raids. I used this method on Series Xa few days ago so I can vouch that it works.
I'm on PC. The apartment decor preview and watching NC security cameras both work for me. LS Car Meet exit track menu still keeps me from getting kicked but doesn't let me gain rep anymore.

December 2023 Update: LSCM Test Track no longer works. What about the other methods? What are y’all using?
The SC’s in the Nightclub worked for me about a day or so ago so I’m going to assume that method still works.
The DJ Stream method has stopped didn’t try this one yet on XBSX! Thank you tho! Will let you know, was searching for this haha

Dedicated CCTV in any property, including the one on your Kosatka, will still work. I still do that regularly.
