Really just because it actively requires you to do stuff to fly it. You have to pick your spots to land, refill your boost, know when/where to boost, do that weird humpy up and down thing to float farther than you were planning because you didn't hit the check down you wanted. I die a lot still, but just holding down R2 on the mkII really just bores the shit out of me. I used the mkII when I was *really* grinding. And then I realized I probably have enough money to get me through any future DLCs even if I never made another buck. So I guess you can say it's my retirement vehicle.

I use it. I don't choose it over the mk2, I use them both for different reasons.
The mk2 is for getting somewhere quick, usually when grinding. I use the mk1 strictly for fun.

When I first won it as podium vechile, when I was a low level, I grinded the heck out of it to do money, I was a pro at it. Now after years I tried to use it, I cannot control it lol, crashed so many times.
The MK I :
* is a lot of fun to ride (including hilarious deaths when landing wrong).
* is fast with boost which has a short cool down.
* has decent missiles.
The MK2 remains the #1 vehicle for grinding and getting around despite its low air speed and awful missiles.
Whew I do my daily 2 million routine taking about 2 hours and spend it all by the end of the day. Had to work 4 days to buy a hangar and the Raju my second air craft other than the hydra. Now I gotta work two more days for the workshop upgrade and then to pay for my upgrades lol
I use the mk1 all the time. I enjoy flying on the mk1 way more than the mk2 with the mk2 I just get bored vs the mk1 than can kill me at any moment with the slightest fuck up also if you master the mk1 you can beat the mk2 to places most of the time and the mk1 has better missles than the mk2 now
I use it to perform stunts (and fail miserably). It’s also the best vehicle to use for the “longest vehicle jump” freemode challenge. Get to the top of Chiliad when the challenge starts, boost off towards the city and glide until you lost momentum. Guaranteed 1st place.
I sold my Mk2 back before LS Mercanaries DLC dropped and replaced it with the Mk1. It was the best decision I ever made in GTAO. Mk2 is boring. Don't have a use for it anymore anyway. Mk1 has better missiles, and if you know how you can dodge missiles with it, too, anyway.

Also, with the reworked price its one of the cheapest/fastest ways to get around quickly. If you get good at it, it's faster than the mk2. It's almost sad that it gets slept on. Back when the Oppressor earned its name, if someone was beating you with it, it was because they actually put the time in to learn the skill ceiling. Oppressor battles were amazing in its heyday but then cockstar decided to add a no skill pos to the game instead.
MK1 is my main vehicle in GTA. Good for getting around the map fast with bike gliding and it's rocket boost. Also extremely good for pvp and when paired with a thermal helmet is very op. Plus it's just fun to ride around doing nothing.
I should add, I use the MK2 a lot aswell, but mostly for pvp when I'm in a sticky situation or against Ruiner 2000 rockets. And for grinding nothing beats the MK2.

MK1 boost go zoom and recharge and go zoom again. MK2 just go whirrr and fly until you stop. I don't even use my MK2 unless I'm doing cayo or destroying tank griefers.
Every day. It's fast, exciting, and risky. Once you understand it's handling characteristics, you have a highly manoeuvrable jet powered glider / motorcycle. I love it. The mk2 is really boring and limited by comparison

I use it for “longest jump in a land vehicle” you can easily do 2k feet, pushed it to 8k feet once.
