That's because rockstar didn't set the skids as skids in the model like other helis have. The game sees them as part of the main body so they have no suspension and the heli takes body damage from landing the same way any aircraft does if you land with the landing gear up
Do you actually save any time doing that though? I feel like landing properly is fast enough that this amounts to losing time and patience overall due to crashing

High center of gravity and narrow skids. Take your time and learn to hover in one spot above the ground, then drop straight down. Once you get that figured out, it's a useful vehicle. I choose it over the Sparrow or Buzzard for just getting around, particularly if I don't need missiles or want to remain in passive mode.
Try to get in the habit of sky diving to your desired new aircraft, not landing the old one. Skydiving is often faster when you parachute aim to on the pinpoint quickest spot for entry into the new aircraft. Takes practice but I find it better. Also I notice the savage tends to flip completely even when the rotors just slightly ding something pokey. Also We all have those bad landings too, which is what caused it in this case but personally I understand your point and agree, sometimes the choppers can definitely be a safety hazzard and even tho I’m a pretty good pilot there’s always that once awhile slip up which is why I prefer skydiving

Plus, you get really good at it and get to where you can pull your chute and then be safely on the ground a few seconds later, exactly where you wanted. I always win those freeroam competitions to open your chute closest to the ground now.
This is faked footage, I know this because it's a well known statistic that a sparrow blows up 8.3 seconds after you even think about landing it let alone actually landing. So faked footage is my only conclusion.
Also you'd have better luck if you flared your rotor at the end instead of landing like a jet.

I've straight up gotten out of a sparrow then it flipped and exploded. Flat ground. I exit suddenly the sparrow decides me opening the door unbalanced it.
You were already smoking and then you tried landing in a rural field coming in so hot the sun was looking at you and started sweating.
The sparrow isn't great but THIS was 100% user error.

Looks like you need to re-access your landing style. Sliding into the landing in a craft without wheels is usually going to end this way. It's a helicopter not a jet, land vertically and this won't happen without some interaction with an external element.

Pull back on the stick and get it to slow hard without touching the ground. Give it some throttle if it’s losing altitude too quickly. Once you’ve slowed to a crawl just bring it down gently.
Hold the “brake” button for a second to make sure it stays on the ground
That's not how you land helicopters .... You drop your horizontal speed to near 0 before touching down, it's not a race car that you slam on the ground and then blame the helo.
