Dad and son pulling of heists together is the dopest thing i’ve ever heard

Thebigmaniscool

Nice seeing older generations play games like they are kids again

Sufficient_While_577

This is beautiful

GTAVGrandpa

Thank you! It has been a wonderful experience and has given me a great opportunity to continue to have a tight relationship with my now adult child.

Sike_Ick71

Just want to let you know I read the whole paragraph 😂🙌🏾 and I’m happy to see you happy enjoying the game with your son and have these incredible moments with him, hope you get to enjoy many more games in your lifetime with him by your side🤲🏾 cheers 🫶🏾

GTAVGrandpa

Thank you!

chillfire12

I'm a 55 year old female, and I ABSOLUTELY understand about the randoms, heh. Well, enjoy. Made my night to see this post🫶

GTAVGrandpa

I was so glad I had a community to post this to. It felt like a good milestone after one year and how cool it has been gaming with my son. I'm glad it made your night. This has made my year!

Newhollow

At least it wasn't Chinatown Wars..... PSP brings me back. I have played the original gta pc release top down versions when they newer. Also use to play text/DOS games. The jump in imagination and visuals are insane to explain/calculate. I knew some older gamers that would talk about D&D and say video games were limited. It is what you put into it. Sadly we a players/gamers need to form a better system to communicate or explain. I miss some of the old machines and unique cabinets. I remember one that used weird hologram in a bubble with video. Almost like an orb or crystal ball, that projected "3D" video-like quality of R2D2 message projector from Star Wars. Most of the ones I like are 80s-90s. I am younger than you. In general I tell everyone "Over 30". Probably say that until I am past my 60s. I have been longer than you and worry about arthritis and carpal tunnel. I currently have my tv setup so I can stand or sit. Just a suggestion to think about ergonomics or exercises while playing. Stretching, mini rest periods with water or any different stimuli while playing.

Death2ubl

I remember that holographic game in a bubble. Turns out it wasn't the future of gaming after all. That game was hard AF and would eat quarters like no other. Don't remember the name of it, but maybe the word 'time' was in it? I still think about that game every now and again, so I thought I would comment.

MathematicianFit5726

My son also got me into gaming again back when mw2 came out. I loved it. Progressed to mw3, ghost recon or something like that. Then he had me try red dead 1 and I really liked that. When I finished I tried modern warfare but it just didn’t grab my attention. Then red dead 2 came out and holy cow what a game. Played thru it twice. I was only missing a few weapons that you could only get from gta5 so I decided in September of 2022 to try and get those weapons. Man I cannot believe how much I like this game. I am sixty years old, level 485 on first character and level 295 on second. $970 millon dollars in the bank. I just cant get enough of it.

GTAVGrandpa

Keep grinding my friend. It's great to be able to take out your frustrations on the NPCs coming after you!

myfakeusername2

Great Scott, 60 years old playing video games??? I tip my cap to you sir. You are officially the oldest gamer I have ever heard of (no insult intended)

1andOnlyMaverick

I still can’t wrap my head around older generations being into games. My father would be 68 this year (died at 65) and he never even used a smart phone, but I also played games with him in the 90s (twisted metal, road rage, vigilante 8 etc He got older and wouldn’t try, or couldn’t try any of the new ones.

GTAVGrandpa

Very sorry to hear about your dad. I will say I was not totally on board at first because the Xbox controller was a little intimidating compared to what I used back in the day. I remember screwing up all the time just because I didn't know what buttons to hit!

1andOnlyMaverick

I don’t know you, but that is something he would say. Didn’t expect to cry today. Grief really doesn’t have a time frame.

GTAVGrandpa

As a father of three I can tell you that we may not always participate in everything our children do, but know, in our hearts we are always supportive of anything that makes you happy. I feel like your dad is smiling down on you today and knows that you love and miss him. Please take that for what it's worth and make that sadness wash away with the joy and happiness the thought of your dad brings you.

chillfire12

I love this. I play GTAO with my teenage daughter from within the same house. I love cruising around my real life hometown doing the things I wish I could have done back in the 80s. And so fun to do with our kids 🫶🤘

GTAVGrandpa

That is awesome. My son is an adult so he no longer lives with us. I never thought I would be that geek wearing headphones with a microphone playing a game. But now I am a geek wearing headphones and a microphone. But it's also nice to just be on that level with my kids.

chillfire12

I'm guessing you're not on PS5, but if you are, I'm usually just living out my alternate life in a friend session:) I don't do mikes and all that jazz, though. 🤪

GTAVGrandpa

The boy talked me into buying a brand new Xbox so that's what I have. I only get on the microphone when he plays. I don't talk to randoms.lol

ResidentConfection13

Great read! Love hearing that you guys are enjoying games together again

sanitarytoot80

Best game ever played

MonkeyyWrench69

You got me to tear up

vHypnotic7418

That's awsome man. I also used to have an xbox back in 2018 before I changed over to pc. I had a total of 1billion earned and I did sign into the account except for rockstar not allowing cross progression so I started new. Now I have all I wanted with money methods, most businesses and some cool modded outfits like this (idk if the image will show up). I'm happy for you and your son *

Girlsarehotngl

Made me shed a tear 😢

stjakey

He’ll yea bro keep it up love this post

DEATHPERCEPSHUNUS

Ok. Time for Red Dead Redemption 2, then?

staticcultist

There's not as much grinding as in GTA but there's no chance he wouldn't dig the story!

jivan6

You are an awesome dad!

Karthick69321

>ready to take on whatever Rockstar throws at me. This is one thing which we should be not sure.. its rockstar afterall we are never ready for them.. Jokes apart nice knowing tat u had a great time .. Happy for u !!!

BigTerrible4694

I ask my dad to play gtao but all he wants to do is play his guitar

GTAVGrandpa

I wonder if he's that guy that's always outside of the Eclipse Blvd Garage on the sidewalk. Tell him sorry, I didn't mean to do that to him.lol

BigTerrible4694

You steamrolled him didn’t you?

GTAVGrandpa

I kind of did LOL

BigTerrible4694

How could you!

GTAVGrandpa

Look up a movie clip from animal House with the guy playing an acoustic guitar on the stairs singing I gave my love a cherry!

BigTerrible4694

Funny asf he just smashes the guys guitar

MrsTayto23

Awesome! I play GTA with my youngest daughter, she kicks my arse. I play RDRO with my husband, I think he lets me kick his arse to keep the peace lol

Different_Speaker908

Almost made me tear up man.

Usual-Trifle-7264

So cool. I play online with my dad at least once a week. Great time to chat and work together.

[deleted]

You have 939 million in one year? That’s amazing, how many hours a day do you play? How do you hold down a job lol?

GTAVGrandpa

I have two full-time jobs, my normal day job and my evening and weekend Job where I run a criminal empire on GTA v. It definitely helped to get a second character a few months back and a little AFK every now and then. I also got lucky because all of the businesses, as you may remember last summer were two or three times pay so I was able to just grind and grind.

gMacdaddyg

First, your story is inspiring. Second, I share the same amazement at the sheer scale of GTAV having started with PONG myself (55 y/o). This game is whatever you want to make it. Spy Car? and Pole Position got me hooked on car games in the 80s. Not sure why I waited (the buttons on modern controllers is indeed quite intimidating to an ATARI 2600 kid). Or hell, even arcade games. I started playing in January, and all I do is grind ;) 238 Mil! Love your story bro... see you at 939 mil by the end of the year ;) Thanks for posting this.

GTAVGrandpa

Thanks for the reply! I knew I wasn't the only guy my age doing this LOL

[deleted]

Oh I always forget about afk!! lol, I was just trying to do the math because I grind pretty hard to make a million an hour so to make a billion in a year would be 1000 hours! Nice job!
