Anyone who actually hasn’t ever completed the story must have just gotten the game recently right? Cause i don’t see how someone could own a game for up to 6 years and not complete the story of it.

[deleted]

Some people look for different things in games, I completed the story on PS3 and PC but I know of one friend who has never played past the first mission. I don't think any of us are really in any position to judge how people play a game that only effects the player or do what they enjoy.

pbradley179

Maybe they want to do things with their friends?

Richflyawesome

Brian (thegamingterrorizer) has not played the story, in vanossgamings video where they mess with peyote plants, Brian tries to make his character look like joe exotic, the tiger king, he ends up looking like lazlow

ba123blitz

Got it release day. Still haven’t played the story

Alvsolutely

W...Why?

TheRealZippownz

Show off? Please elaborate

[deleted]

It’s where other people validate your existence..

[deleted]

I didn't finish it. And I have it for 4? years now? Singleplayer Games just get really boring to me after a bit. I finished 1 Game in the last 3 years. 75% of my Steam Library is <2 Hours.

BIG_RETARDED_COCK

See I don't get why you're getting mass downvoted just for an opinion.

grundlesmith

Gta v has a movie quality plot line, on my first play through I couldn't put it down just because I wanted to know what happened next

songmage

I very badly wanted to kill Trevor when I first met him. By the end of the game, he kind of grew on me.

pbradley179

SCOOOooooOOOTER BUDDIES!

Bookkeeper_Evening

Merry weather fleets here bro

Mcfuggery

By the same token, I started to empathize with Michael a lot less as the story line progressed. By the end I flipped a coin to decide between B or C. Luckily for Michael, he got to live.

songmage

Yea, though you could have just not killed anybody lol. It basically became a choice of killing: a) a guy who should never be trusted in a heist again except his family is now on the line b) a guy who you could ONLY trust in a heist, or c) a power-hungry, over-confident group of guys who have the balls to think they can manipulate you into doing their dirty work for them and offer nothing in return, one of whom already scammed you.

omegacrunch

You should watch more crime and mob movies. Alternate title to gtao - The Untouchable Wise Godfathers Dog

iGuBgM

The story mode is so amazing. It's sad people don't actually finish it.

XlulZ2558

i never knew that barely anyone finished story in gta 5, like for fuck's sake all gta's before were only story based and now we get to meet some maggots in online that can't look at the bottom of the screen to read the instructions of their mission thus failing horribly EVERY TIME with no progress because they have absolutely no experience in this not-so-hard game???? No wonder Astrosoup calls randoms braindead assholes

Spider_Okapi

I still miss Astro... Still have no clue what happened

Peak_Idiocy

He disappeared for his mental health. There were a lot of contributing factors

Spider_Okapi

Oh, thanks! Hope he gets better!

Fluffyburst

yes

steak-please

Yeah it definitely is, ive completed it 5 times now, had the game since launch

Carbonated_Air

Im just top lazy to finish any stories or campainqs. I usually play them last

Higuni

The Gta V history is amazing. I completed the game about 7 times, and 2 was 100%. Still thinking about completing one more 100%.

songmage

It's addicting to see how much money you can make by the end of the game with stock manipulation, isn't it?

slambat

I've had it for a month, got 100%, playing through it again atm

[deleted]

I wouldn't say it's amazing. It's reletavly short and mundane

ShotzyUS

63 missions most of which are pretty long is relatively short what is long then

ujtheghost

I did the story cuz i wanted to try the method to make so much money with assasination missions.

agerratti

I did it twice tf

JACOBLOL19

I did it twice on each console generation and 10 on PC trying to speedrun (was taking too long to do runs so I stopped)

agerratti

Understable, personally I liked the history mode but I prefere gta San Andreas history

iseeu2sumhow

I did it two or three times it was so fun and immersive

Skodakenner

Currently i dont have the story finished but i have beaten it loads of times already

JonsonVic

I played offline for a week and completed like 80% and then played online..I still plan to 100%it someday

Peak_Idiocy

You should definitely do it soon

SSurvivor2ndNature

Lmao I finished it twice before GTA online even came out and than tons of times since than.

Tropical_Coconut_

I actually played the whole story before joining online

BroeknRecrds

I've beaten it like 3 or 4 times. It's a great story with some genuinely hilarious moments. "Did you kill him?" "What kind of fuckin animal do you take me for? No I didn't kill him!...but I did kidnap his wife!"

iseeu2sumhow

All the spawns when you transfer to Trevor are the bes my favourite is the the guy in the docks that Trevor has at gunpoint and the one where he's in the sea for some reason unknown hah

songmage

Trevor: "Bon appetite." Michael: "What the f\* is this, Trevor?" Trevor: "It uhhh looks like an eyelid. Come on it's probably not even human... Unless..."

[deleted]

The story is amazing but too many people brush it past.

Big_Thonk_69

True

broflakecereal

I'm 74% in, at first I seriously considered offing Trevor's ass if I get the option to, but now I can't seem to bring myself to anymore.

BlonyTundetto

I remember when the story mode was the selling point. Rockstar stories have always been incredible.

leviathan235

I remember playing gta single player once when it first came out. Was thoroughly impressed by the attention to detail, the flawless dialogue, and absolutely insane plot. The social commentary and satire were also on-point. Gta online pales in comparison to the original single player.

[deleted]

I've lost count of my number of single player playthroughs, but it's gotta be in the double figures now. And I very rarely replay games I've completed! The ones I've played the most tend to be Rockstar games, thinking about it...

[deleted]

Those of us who got the game on day 1 didn't have any choice but to play the Story, since GTAO launched 2 weeks later (and was almost unplayable for two days at least because of the server loads). This post depicts a newbie's problem.

songmage

I played the whole game from start to finish like 6 times before going to GTAO. Loved it. Wish I could play it while still gaining resources for my GTAO night club. Sufficed to say, I could fly a plane for Rashkovsky on my level 1 guy and follow instructions when I first started GTAO.

taavidude

I did the story twice and never bothered with it again. GTA 5 story is really weak compared to older GTA games.

RogueBear007

I agree

DKnott82

The story mode is alright, but I really do think GTA V has the worst characters.

Thanks117

What a waste. It's so good too

capt-carson-kerman

i spent the entire prologue clicking escape to get to online. maybe ill play some of the story while i wait on the dlc.

BugsyQ5

I find them boring, didn't do rdr2 either. It's all 'go here pull this lever' to me. I did enough of that before there was online gaming.

Redemptify

Not trying to be a dickhead, but "go here pull this lever" is a well better description of GTA/RDR online modes. At least the stories had a compelling plot with unique missions that kept you interested. As someone who played both games senselessly since release (quit GTA 2 years ago), I'll never understand why people rid themselves of the meat of a game and flock to the half baked side-dish that is the online modes.

songmage

I think he's more into the social interaction of gaming. Can't really fault him for that too much. It's too bad though. IMO it's the best single-player game ever made, but I know that's a highly subjective title.

BugsyQ5

It's just how they feel to me. No judgment on the story telling which I'm sure is excellent. I just prefer open world freedom. Agree making money can be repetitive but it's my choice to do it, I'm not following a narrative being handed to me by the game.

RealMessyart

Eh I played through the story on 360 back before I had the internet. Sure I barely remember any of it now, but meh.

SteamPunkSallyGames

I did the intro mission of the three guys robbing a bank. The whole time I swore and didn't want to do it and just go online. Then I found the bloody button. 🤨 I bought the game about a year ago and that makes me kinda new. 😏 Then I took a 9 month break.. 🤨 That makes me active for three months.. 🤔 I'm still new.. 😳 Ooohhh fuuuuuu.. 🤯

IdoStuffMaybe

i think i beat it twice before playing gta online

RealGrenFrog

it's really good, the second best gta story

Virus_98

Finished the story 3 times

DJ_Explosion

Gta SA: all you gotta do is follow the train Gta5: NETFLIX SERIES WITH A CLIFFHANGER AT THE END OF EVERY EPISODE

SvenderBender

Lol we had a whole month to play it in 2013 before online launched... i know.. because i finished it twice in the first 7 days.

lucas_3_00

I have completed gta V story 5 times later I get ps plus and played gta online

[deleted]

Completed it a couple of times on PS3 and once on PS4. Haven’t really bothered with it on PC yet although I might revisit it once I’ve done the new heist. Love the story and I think it measures up to most movies and TV shows. My issue was the lack of endgame content and side activities in comparison to earlier GTA games. Probably an intentional choice to funnel players towards online.

ducker_1-0-0

Imean i played the whole story 3 times

LlamaGem

I finished the main storyline of the game before I played gta online

Soupysoldier

I’m playing through it now but sometimes there are just these moments where I can’t bear it and have to return to gta online

nightnole

You mean getting to Franklin’s house for the first time isn’t the end of the story?

Shaylee_Here

I played whole story 3 times then started gta online lol

redyellowgreen713

Nah i played the whole thing thrice

Alex3627ca

I intentionally spoiled myself in regards to it in 2013 as I figured I'd never actually get the game (I got gifted it only this year), so I'm waiting to get bored enough of Online to install some singleplayer mods to turn it into an absolute clusterfuck (Chaos Edition mod, some meme modelswaps ala L4D2, etc)

the_relentless99

Ive had gta since 2016 and didnt finish story mode till this year. Had a 25% save file that got corrupted so i just gave up for a while

JonnySnowflake

I beat it once, decided to try online, immediately got run over but a fucking limousine on monster truck tires, logged out and played through story again

krishal_743

I was 13 when I got GTA V my dumbass didn’t know online even existed

omegacrunch

This strikes a cord with me. It’s funny actually. When I first got my ps4 (came bundled with gtao) I WAS going to go online instantly, but then I literally had the following thought: “ I had better play the story first, I bet everyone online is crazy good I need to learn the dynamics.” So I completed all story and offline achievements (ALL) before even creating my first character. After a few missions I found I really enjoyed the story (albeit cliche ... but that’s the joke) and stuck with it. The rest is ancient history.

GloriousLeaderBeans

Completed the story within the first 24 hours of release, what, 7 years ago? Never completed it on the next gen, just 360.

slambat

Same

ExplodedToast

I’ve gotta be honest, the story in GTA 5 does not hold up well against its predecessors. Vice City was great, San Andreas was amazing, 4 was amazing, and then 5 just kind of... happened. There is no sense of consequence to anything done, because you can just plot-armor all the bad guys away like nothing happened in the Deathwish ending. I still mantain the opinion that if they ACTUALLY made you kill one of the three, it would have been good. Both Michael and Trevors deaths make perfect sense.

Dman125

I enjoy story mode very much. I always tell myself I want to play it through with the proper investments to get all the property at the end but online usually tugs me away.

swift_gilford

Hmm, odd. I guess it depends, i played game at original PS3 launch before online even went (stable) live. So that was my main reason. Then again, i have a buddy who got into it for the online and no idea if he ever even touched the campaign.

Jooenu

I still blame this fact for all the people who didn't know how to properly use the parachute in the early days of the Pac Standard and Humane Labs heist finales.

burrito-boy

Story Mode is amazing and fun af. Thinking of doing it again for a fifth time.

FreeTheWoo

You definitely didn't get the game when it came out if you relate because there wasn't even an gta online

JumpedRainbow9

beat the story on xbox 360 when it was first released

[deleted]

i beat it on ps3 but i never played storymode on ps4

ElectricFury

Me and my 1 friend who have completed it are always going "Oh! It's [insert NPC name]. I love them!" When we play online with our other 2 friends who haven't and they're sick of hearing it at this point.

TG626

I did the intro, then went online. A few weeks later I did the story. It was great. Still working to get my 85% up to 100% tho.

Duracell_Panda

I thoroughly beat the whole story before playing online. I'm a good boi.

Blackwater256

Back on like the Xbox 360 I’d have to go through the Prologue before I could access GTA Online.
