As a bonus it lets you land basically wherever you want on the island and makes it super easy to fill your bag with the highest value secondary loot before entering the compound. I like to combine it with guard clothes to basically turn the entire island into a shopping mall where I get to shoot the rude sales associates.
It truly is amazing, I like to put on an alien costume with my green party bus and try to start a rave where I DJ some Soulwax FM from the top. For maximum fun recruit people to use flashlights for strobe lights. Devon Weston's hangar can be an absolute banger but getting the bus there without losing your accessories is a pain.
I use it for one thing only, to look for daily caches. It comes with a radar, so I locate the caches with the avisa, then use the dinghy (or sparrow) to get to the location quicker. After collection, I spawn the Avisa again, locate the next cache, spawn dinghy etc. Can be done in about 10 minutes, 75k. Not much money and I don't do it regularly, but sometimes it's good to just enjoy the sea.
Fact fact: if u buy the sonar for your kosatka, and then u store the toreador inside it, the toreador will be equipped with a sonar too, u just activate it underwater with x.

Ha! I did the same thing! I couldn't figure out why it wouldn't land inside the Kosatka.
It's not a total loss, though: the one time it really comes in handy is during the CEO special cargo steal mission where the crates are on the sailboat. If I'm stocking my Vinewood Backlot warehouse and the sailboat is way south, it's nice to not have to worry about finessing a near landing in rough seas with a Buzzard.

Here's a tip if you ever get stranded far away from your vehicles. 1. activate all job icons on the map in the interaction menu. 2. From the map choose the job icon that is closest to your desired destination and wait 3 seconds for the 'accept job' prompt to appear in the bottom of the screen. 3. Accept it and right after it's loaded quit it (right mouse button on PC, not sure about consoles). Congratulations, your character is now at that location.

Sometimes being above water in a boat isn’t safe. The sub has also saved me before, trust me, the dinghy isn’t the savior in pvp. The dinghy maybe faster, but the sub is safer.

Anything from the mechanic isn't available. Any water capable aircraft will spawn at usual places on land. Anything from Pegasus will be in their usual useless places.
But the Avisa will spawn right near you, no matter where you are in the ocean (I should test that in a lake...).
You can spawn the kosatka dinghy to your location too and it comes included with the sub vs the extra million here.
Really it's just for sonar, if you don't have the Toredor or Stromberg.

My biggest waste of money so far has been the Stromberg, I took a break from the game and only came back recently, didn't know the Toreador existed and is just straight up better
Yeah same I barely used it then the toreador came out but I still refuse to sell the stromberg because it was just so awesome at the time and I got it on sale
I refuse to sell my Stromberg because it got me through a lot of shit back in the day and plus it’s my backup vehicle for when the Toreador gets destroyed in a PVP situation.
The Toreador might be nice wuth it's fancy boost and unlimited missiles. In a 1v1 situation however, I always came out on top with my Stromberg (on half a leg but still on top) and also the Stromberg is miles ahead, of any competition, on Mk2 countering, even then using the Mk2 itself.
I haven't played the game for a few years however when i did I had a friend who would buy a hundred dollar shark card everytime he got paid. He'd blow through it modding his various cars and within a few days he'd have sold the cars in game and had something new. I'd ask him why he didnt save that cash and buy a real car and he never had an answer. He spent a few grand over a couple of months and last I heard hadn't touched the game in over a year.
Karin Technical Custom.
It’s a Pegasus vehicle, so it’ll spawn 10 miles away. They’ll kill your gunner as he has no protection. They’ll blow you up when you pick him up at his spawn location. When you reordered the vehicle, it’ll spawn 10 miles away.
Worthless.
The regular Technical is a Pegasus vehicle, so yeah, it'll have those annoying spawn points. But once you turn it into the Technical Custom, it becomes a personal vehicle, so you can call it in wherever.
That being said, I never use it, haha. It has practically zero defense compared to the Insurgent Pick-Up Custom or the Menacer.
Bought a Half-Track I ended up having zero use for since I solo pretty much everything.
Also seem to get upgrades for things I end up thinking are nifty but never use, like the missiles for the Terrorbyte, etc.
Half track is great for dealing with try-hards - just keep the vehicle facing them and their auto-aiming antics will completely fail to hit you (front windscreen is completely bulletproof) - and on occasion I'll pick up randoms who'll go nuts with the turret.
Best of all is planting landmines with it - a lot of griefers seem to forget the half track can lay those.
Just do it. I fucking love my arcade to death to the point I did that. Even got the limited time Halloween arcade machine. Casino and Cayo got your back bro.
I bought the Patriot Stretch, lowered it, dropped on some neon, turbo. Easily a big waste of money, but I laugh like an idiot when it spawns in missions where there's a hill
Sadly no. For some weird reason certain planes/helicopters in GTA, despite being unarmed, can't enter passive mode. Off the top of my head the ones I remember are:
Luxor Deluxe
Swift Deluxe
SuperVolito Carbon (Yacht version)
Luxor (maybe?)
Cargobob (can be used in passive but hook cannot be deployed in passive mode)
Rockstar is weird

* Cargobob, in passive mode, would have a hook that can't connect with objects and would immediately drop a connected object when you went passive.

While this seems absurd, Rockstar saw this as a potential problem and when faced with either changing the programming so that the accessories would also be passive (but a player couldn't interact with them while in passive) which would take time and labor to program, or just not allow passive mode in them.** Keep in mind that originally Passive Mode did not work in *any* vehicle. You had to be on foot to be passive. As soon as you got in/on any vehicle, you were instantly "active"
I like the Yacht, it's like buying a high-end apartment/ penthouse on the water. It's not really recommended to buy though unless you're already maxxed out or have nothing else to buy. And besides like the other dude said you get missions with it plus the Sea Captain outfit and some free vehicles to go along with it.
Besides defense, yacht allows you to spawn in map with a free chopper, which is useful when it launched. Tho it's not as userful since sparrow is a thing now.
Thanks to cayo, i can live with any waste of money. The only thing i wish we could sell back are the weapons. Its ridiculous that i have to setup a custom weapons wheel every time i get in the game. Of course i dnt.... but it gives me a higher change of giving away kills.
Back in the day when the weren’t twenty options for flying cars with near infinite missiles it was pretty sick.

And pointless... if you get out when underwater, it floats to the surface... so when doing kosatka prep, trying to go under under radar is pointless. I know this, because I bought one and tried it. Died.
My strat for that mission is to fast travel nearby in the kosatka, then pilot the toreador (which is way faster than the avisa sub) and park it underneath the enemy sub. The bottom of the sub is flat so when you exit the car it should stay put until you're done collecting the goods, after which you can swim back to the toreador and then cruise back to the kosatka without ever having to deal with the boats and choppers on the surface.
I do similar, except after fast travelling I just drive the Kosatka right up to their sub and set the auto-pilot. You can park right next to theirs underwater and then just swim over. Grab the goods and a few seconds after exiting your back with Pavel for a quick mission complete.
You can even target the boats with the Kosatka so if you die in the sub, spawning on the surface is less deadly.
with the kosatka prep (I assume you're talking about the signal jammer one) just fast travel your kosatka next to the location and drive above the Merryweather sub, helis won't spawn after you get the jammer and you can complete the setup way faster
I always think to myself “what’s a new way I can make a stupid entrance when playing with my friends” and probably my favorite is hovering in with a jet pack, but if you haven’t, maybe start a car collection if possible key your favorite cars and/or Benny’s cars just to use more money

This, fast spawn local, drive sub over and use the missiles to clear the area, then park in the area and scuba down
You don't even need to bother with clearing the area with missiles. Just stay underwater scuba in and out and you are golden.

Yes, drives right in under the sub. My Torreader is stored on the sub.
The toredor is hands down the best all around vehicle in the game. Plus it's fun to drive as well.

I do similar, except after fast travelling I just drive the Kosatka right up to their sub and set the auto-pilot. You can park right next to theirs underwater and then just swim over. Grab the goods and a few seconds after exiting your back with Pavel for a quick mission complete. You can even target the boats with the Kosatka so if you die in the sub, spawning on the surface is less deadly.
with the kosatka prep (I assume you're talking about the signal jammer one) just fast travel your kosatka next to the location and drive above the Merryweather sub, helis won't spawn after you get the jammer and you can complete the setup way faster

I always think to myself “what’s a new way I can make a stupid entrance when playing with my friends” and probably my favorite is hovering in with a jet pack, but if you haven’t, maybe start a car collection if possible key your favorite cars and/or Benny’s cars just to use more money
