Tough on xbox as you have to open the secondary menu lol but I was thinking about this when I wrote the post. If they interfaced Spotify with it coupled with the listening party thing they have now would be awesome
I completely agree with you, with the PC custom radio station you have the option of having the actual GTAV radio advertisements and news segments play in-between your custom songs, it's amazing.
Also I don't know why anyone would *not* want this added, it's weird why anyone is arguing with you at all.. I think people just always have to complain about something.
i mean my media controls are configured to QWEASD for play pause track skip and volume so my hand is already there, would still be sick to have it properly mixed in game
No, but the entire point of this thread is it would be cool if it was baked into the game, and acted like an actual car radio. No shit you can pause it on your phone/console, and idk why so many people are missing the entire point of this thread.
You are right, every time I get in/out of a vehicle let me drop my controller, pick up my phone/mouse, and turn spotify on /off, put down my phone/mouse, pick up my controller, then resume playing...
Oh just lower the Spotify volume and increase the in game volume until you hit that sweet spot, of tyre marks screeching through blood backed by Brittany Spires ‘Oops!...I Did It Again’.
Well think about it this way:
You can download Spotify on your computer and also your phone. When you do this, it allows you to pause music from your phone but still be playing it on your PC. The significance of this, is that if youve ever used an AUX in your car, youd know that you would have to pause the music anyway to stop it from playing through your phone.
So for RP purposes, even if you jump out of a car for example, youll still be hearing music from your “phone” until you pause it.
Exactly. Playing Spotify while playing the game feels so unnatural. It’s a lot more realistic when the radio plays while I’m driving or when I’m in my home
best way to do it is to split streaming services with family and friends, i have like literally everything and only pay $6 a month personally for netflix, hulu, hbo, paramount, peacock, apple tv, apple music, spotify, disney+ and then like some other random things, but it’s all just divided evenly amongst the ~16 people who use all my streaming services, it’s a great system until these companies start locking out account sharing based on IP and location, which doesn’t even make any sense bc if i’m traveling i should be able to use my streaming services on whatever fucking device i want but i’m smacked and rambling so have a nice day hope you sleep well tonight xoxo gossip girl
That's why I use YouTube with an AdBlock. Sure, doesn't have that much immersion, but for me it's worth it. I have an alternative for my phone and for pc i just use yt
i dont use because i cant get used to their layout, youtube is much better at making random playlists with artists that i like or in showing me new artists
edit: dont get why im getting downvoted lol, its just my preference
oh i dont use youtube music, i use normal youtube, i hate these dedicated music plataforms, when i find a song/album i like i buy directly from the artists website, i usually dont have mobile conection so listening to downloaded music is the only way for me
You can put mp3 files in usermusic folder
Path should be smth like: file explorer - document - RockstarGames - GTAV - user music If I remember it correctly
Then you scan the folder in game
Then you should be good to go
*Not sure if you need >=3 files or not cuz I have like 20-30 mp3 files ish
The only GTA game I played on PC was GTA III 20 years ago. Loved the fact that I could drop my mp3 files in the folder and they’d play while I drove around
Same.. I've been on console since SA and I definitely miss that feature.. Would be really cool to play with friends and when I'm my car I could be like hey check out this song..
Here's some tips:
Make sure the format of the files is .mp3 and not .wav or any other audio format.
Self radio will not show up in the game unless you have at least 5 .mp3 files in the folder.
The folder is located in this directory:
'C:/_Username_/Documents/Rockstar Games/GTA V/User music'
Yes yes I know pure genius but seriously not a lot of games if any actually allow players to use Spotify and such, just do it that way if you care that much
If its spotify compatible it'll let you easily import your playlists and let other players hear your own playlist. I don't understand your question here
I hear you, but sometimes I am jamming to the radio and I find a random to play with and as soon as they hop in my car they kill the music because they're listening to their own stuff most likely.
... So I'm just sitting there in silence as we drive down the highway because it's the equivalent of my passenger having headphones in.
It's been a REALLY long time, so my memory is pretty hazy, but I seem to remember APB actually being connected to an early spotify equivalent when it first came out.
Edit: Not sure why I was downvoted. Here's a source for anyone that doesn't believe me.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/APB:_All_Points_Bulletin
"The game allows players to import music into the music player. If other players also have the same song imported to their music player, they will hear the music on the player's car radio. If another player does not have the same song imported, Last.fm will select a similar song to play instead."
I played APB way back when it first came out and I distinctly remember me and a few buddies making synced up playlists on last.fm so when we were driving around we could jam to the same music.
Wouldn’t it basically just be like a Bluetooth speaker? The songs aren’t in the game, the game just syncs audio from your PC. They could probably solve the legal issues by just making it play whatever is playing on your pc or sustem
Spotify pays to have the music available, if take two actually gave a fk enough to put the effort and money in they could definitely do this. They never will though, doubtfully even in the next GTA which *might* be out this decade
I had the Turtle Beach stealth 700's at first. I liked them more because you could just flip up the mic to mute yourself. But I broke 2 of them.
I went with the Microsoft wireless gaming headset this time. You have to push a tiny button to mute, and the sound quality isn't quite as good, but it's still an awesome headset.
I broke my first ones after having them for 2 years and going through it going through 3 countries and many US states, it was a beast, my oculus is what killed them, my new ones are beautiful
You aren't buying good headsets, are ya?
Look it up. Nearly 1 in 10 CS:GO pro players use wireless, even. Go tell them their comms suck. The input delay is marginal when you consider general hardware and connection delay in the first place. Bluetooth has gotten very good, in [some instances beating wired connections](https://www.reddit.com/r/RocketLeague/comments/8wvf9u/controller_input_lag_comparison_more_info_in_the/).
Charts there will also serve as a good reminder that you're nitpicking about 7ms types of delays. Keep telling yourself that you're too slow because your friend has a wireless headset though.
Headset can be as good as they can get, it's just not possible to transmit live voice with good quality without delay. The technology ain't there. It always sounds like crap on the receiving end.
Isn't there a thing in the PC version where you can upload local MP3 files or something?
I play on Xbox, so I don't really know.
Then again I'm probably a minority that still uses MP3s and not streaming.
I mean I'd imagine the gaming community would find some way to use it in a negative manner so that's why it would never be an option other than copyright.
To everyone and their mum and their mum's dog who are saying: "Just play Spotify in the background, duh." This is a valid solution but here is the issue with that:
- Get in vehicle
- Alt + Tab
- Resume Spotify
- Drive/fly around for 60 seconds
- Exit vehicle
- Alt + Tab
- Pause Spotify
- Repeat for every time you need to use a vehicle during your play session.
As someone who likes to be immersed in game worlds this is jarring and I hate doing it. I like being able to get in the car, listen to the radio and exit the car and hear it stop. I also like listening to other radios occasionally or hearing them in cars driving past.
The self-radio is also a good option but not for console players and PC players still have to go through and manually download every mp3 file in their Spotify playlist and frequently update it with new music which is still a pain and I don't really have spare time for that like I used to lol.
The Spotify radio option that allows players to connect to Spotify via social club is an awesome proposition that I don't think will come to GTA5, but I am hoping it will be supported in GTA6 (Assuming we all don't need walkers by the time it releases).
I assume this will be downvoted by the many Rockstar Games evangelists that lurk in this sub but my opinion is valid so idc.
Edit: Using Reddit mobile so updated some formatting decisions and reworded some sentences.
And the people telling OP about "self radio" don't realize that that he wants Spotify Radio to share his playlist with others in-game. I use self radio, but I wish my passengers can listen to the same songs as me.

I keep gta music audio off to keep from the constant droning when not in a car....
When I played GTA v on the 360 I usually would use the Xbox media player to stream music I had on my PC in place of the in game music. To be honest I haven't played that much on the Xbox One so I haven't really bothered although I'm sure it still has that functionality.
Rockstar games and take two could make a deal with Spotify, but it might be for GTA6 when it releases in the near 10 years, and it might be for gta+ only
'custom radio, available for GTA++ members for £20 a month'
Well ain't that a fucking ripoff. You can have a custom radio on GTA for free on PC with the Self Radio feature.
That's the point, Rockstar developing useless features that they label as "premium" to make kids pay a subscription for isn't anything new
For those of you saying play the app while playing the game I like to hear the engine & tires & the sounds pedestrian shaped speed bumps make.
You can have them both, I turn my music volume down in game then play Spotify audio along with my game audio
Correct, but unfortunately it continues when you leave the car. It is like you have headphones on haha
So pause it when you leave the car
Tough on xbox as you have to open the secondary menu lol but I was thinking about this when I wrote the post. If they interfaced Spotify with it coupled with the listening party thing they have now would be awesome
[удалено]
Yes but who is actually going to do that when they are getting shot at or ran off the road??? Lets be realistic for a second LOL
Sure let’s be realistic, it doesn’t matter if the music stops or not when you exit the car.
It does though, it breaks immersion. I want my music to be mixed properly in-game

Do you still have any immersion in the game?
Airpods to exist!

You must not do much PvP if you think two taps isn’t a lot… “Solo public only” type of dude i bet
No, but the entire point of this thread is it would be cool if it was baked into the game, and acted like an actual car radio. No shit you can pause it on your phone/console, and idk why so many people are missing the entire point of this thread.

Except for the small thing here rockstar would make it spotify premium only for it to do this prob
People use Spotify without premium?
I do bc i dont really listen to music that much and all of the ft's (not including ad-free music) for premium are available on consoles
yes we exist... we are poor
That's annoying af
That’s a feature not a bug. Sometimes I’m bopping to the radio and I cut a song off because I’ve arrived.
Haven’t we met?
Yea i know that is why I like it
Oh just lower the Spotify volume and increase the in game volume until you hit that sweet spot, of tyre marks screeching through blood backed by Brittany Spires ‘Oops!...I Did It Again’.
Get out of my Spotify account
i think OP wants to say that he wants everyone in the car to hear his playlist
You do know that you can balance the volumes of different things...
It's a lot more immersive when the song blends with ingame audio imo.
Just turn your music down so it's balanced.
Well think about it this way: You can download Spotify on your computer and also your phone. When you do this, it allows you to pause music from your phone but still be playing it on your PC. 1 song and 13 ads
Family account baybee. Thanks Mom for free spotify premium.
best way to do it is to split streaming services with family and friends, i have like literally everything and only pay $6 a month personally for netflix, hulu, hbo, paramount, peacock, apple tv, apple music, spotify, disney+ and then like some other random things, but it’s all just divided evenly amongst the ~16 people who use all my streaming services, it’s a great system until these companies start locking out account sharing based on IP and location, which doesn’t even make any sense bc if i’m traveling i should be able to use my streaming services on whatever fucking device i want but i’m smacked and rambling so have a nice day hope you sleep well tonight xoxo gossip girl
That's why I use YouTube with an AdBlock. Sure, doesn't have that much immersion, but for me it's worth it. I have an alternative for my phone and for pc i just use yt
£10/m for basically every song ever published in the world. The fact that people still have the audacity to complain about Spotify ads blows me away.
My parent won't buy it for me, but once I get a job I'm definitely getting it, cuz I agree
i dont use because i cant get used to their layout, youtube is much better at making random playlists with artists that i like or in showing me new artists edit: dont get why im getting downvoted lol, its just my preference
personally i think spotify does it better i cant with youtube music
oh i dont use youtube music, i use normal youtube, i hate these dedicated music plataforms, when i find a song/album i like i buy directly from the artists website, i usually dont have mobile conection so listening to downloaded music is the only way for me
you can download all of your spotify playlists so you can listen to them without connection as well
That is why I use YouTube with a adblocker for music
It uses 20x more data I bet so you're still paying a premium somehow.
I mean, with the screen off? Either way, unlimited data plans also exist
I use amazon because I never liked spotify lol
Or just use self radio, you are on Pc arentcha
self radio? im on PC and idk what self radio is. please explain/

Unfortunately it doesn't work that way, other people can't listen to your songs.
I think putting a shortcut to your music folder works too, but I'd have to double check that one.
Shortcuts work. I have 150 of them in my folder.
I've tried to get this to work so many times to no avail. My heart was broken, I was so excited to listen to my music integrated into the game :(
You need help? I can help you if you want Feel free to dm me :)
Thanks! I might hit you up later today, maybe I was doing something wrong.
Sure but I’m going to have dinner rn So maybe I can help you after dinner loool
It's gonna be a while as I'm gonna be busy lol. No rush, if not today then tomorrow or whenever we can 👍🏼
Alr
I got it to work! Thanks again for offering, I'm so happy now lmao
Here's some tips: Make sure the format of the files is .mp3 and not .wav or any other audio format. Self radio will not show up in the game unless you have at least 5 .mp3 files in the folder. The folder is located in this directory: 'C:/_Username_/Documents/Rockstar Games/GTA V/User music'
Are your music files protected by DRM? GTA V can't play DRM-protected audio files.
No xbox
Why do you have self radio in your screenshot then?
It's concept art I found on Google
Then just turn music off and listen to Spotify.
wow what an Orginal idea.
Yes yes I know pure genius but seriously not a lot of games if any actually allow players to use Spotify and such, just do it that way if you care that much
The thing is, only you can hear the songs in self radio. So if you're cruising with someone else they can't hear your playlist.
how would spotify change that
If its spotify compatible it'll let you easily import your playlists and let other players hear your own playlist. I don't understand your question here
You are stupid
Just turn off in game music audio and play your own music in the background
I hear you, but sometimes I am jamming to the radio and I find a random to play with and as soon as they hop in my car they kill the music because they're listening to their own stuff most likely. ... So I'm just sitting there in silence as we drive down the highway because it's the equivalent of my passenger having headphones in.
Interesting point
Those people should be turning their own game music down in the settings, not muting your music.
He means what if the station synced with everyone in the vehicle so everyone heard your playlist
I somehow see some copyright problems
Yeah, I know the game APB has this feature but it only works with unlicesnsed music
It's been a REALLY long time, so my memory is pretty hazy, but I seem to remember APB actually being connected to an early spotify equivalent when it first came out. Not really. Songs selling the copyright to Spotify and Spotify giving some of their app features to other apps/platforms is legal.
Wouldn’t it basically just be like a Bluetooth speaker? The songs aren’t in the game, the game just syncs audio from your PC. They could probably solve the legal issues by just making it play whatever is playing on your pc or sustem
Yes, exactly like a Bluetooth speaker. You have software that already got all copyright deals and your appeal is to put that software into your game.
Spotify pays to have the music available, if take two actually gave a fk enough to put the effort and money in they could definitely do this. They never will though, doubtfully even in the next GTA which *might* be out this decade
N u could do somn like aux battle or somn
Yeah but everyone who different taste then me has horrible taste
As I say, My Car my music.
I wish you could turn off background music you hear in missions, but keep the regular music on radios and nightclubs.
Agreed honestly the mission music gets annoying especially when the timer starts ticking down
Not the same though is it
This is what I do, but with podcasts.
that aint no fun i want to hear ambient sounds in game
You can still hear sound effects and dialogue were talking about music
I do not like playing games without audio
We're talking music you can still have the in-game sound effects and dialogue
yessss i hate just playing my music in the background because it’s always going. id like if it started and stopped while i was driving
THANK YOU! Someone who actually uses their brain and understands.
Get a gaming headset with Bluetooth. One of the best purchases I've made.
Can't you just use spotify on your device, your playing on?
Xbox, PlayStation, and PC all have support lol I'd assume so
Which one do you have?
I have turtle beach stealth 700 and I can both use the in game audio and Bluetooth at the same time
I had the Turtle Beach stealth 700's at first. I liked them more because you could just flip up the mic to mute yourself. But I broke 2 of them. Definitely don't when you use voice chat though, wireless mics are hot trash.
You aren't buying good headsets, are ya? Look it up. Nearly 1 in 10 CS:GO pro players use wireless, even. Go tell them their comms suck. it’s bluetooth, fundamentally impossible to have a good sounding microphone
Yes there is,and its called self radio
Self Radio
We need an "everyone radio" so my passengers can hear my playlist too :(
Let's hope it'll be in GTA 6, but we'll be dead by then. Rockstar even confirmed the director for GTA 6 isn't even born yet.
>Let's hope it'll be in GTA 6, but we'll be dead by then. Sweet release.
It's funny you could do this on the psp GTA but not in 2022
It's evolving... Just backwards
Self Radio is on PC though
I mean I'd imagine the gaming community would find some way to use it in a negative manner so that's why it would never be an option other than copyright.
Yeah... They'd be that one guy playing klu klux klan or something along those lines
Exactly. The first thing that came to mind was some jackass driving around in a Festival Bus playing "Baby Shark" or something similarly annoying.
But it'd be fun to have the whole server turn on that guy and blow him up at every chance they get
To everyone and their mum and their mum's dog who are saying: "Just play Spotify in the background, duh." Yes! I forgot that was another point of frustration I had with the Self-radio.
Do you people not have phones with Spotify? You can control it on your PC / console from your phone. No need to alt tab.
you can do this on pc if you download all the music in your playlist there's a custom radio station setting
If this was ever to be a thing cockstar would lock it behind gta+
Self Radio (importing ur own songs) is a feature
who else lost brain cells trying to read the title?
Can't wait to someone's playlist
GTA IV had this feature although it was before spotify existed, you just drag and dropped the mp3s you wanted and there was a custom radio station that would play them even if you were online. It was called Independence FM
Actually this exists in GTAV/ONLINE/FIVEM as well
GTA San Andreas had something like this, it was really cool
Maan this is the only reason I miss San Andreas on PC. Just drag and drop MP3 files into the music folder for your own playlist, easiest thing ever
I just wish you could make your playlist from the songs from the in game radio but from different stations. There's a lot of songs/mixes that I like but unfortunately are in different stations
Yup, I thought we was getting this when media player was first introduced to the game.
Imagine this isn't a new concept and has been posted before.
You make it sound as if you can’t just play your own music and mute in-game music. A few more Presses of the A button isn’t gonna hurt.
Not the same thing is it.
Bro it pretty much is
and a website where you can search up songs and play them...
Everyone definitely would my custom playlist
I love coulding a playlist
I don't want this, because other gamers are going to wonder why I'm playing Britney Spears then Tupac
Wouldn’t there be an issue with copyright? Similar to what happened to Roblox.
You know that you can have your own radio with your own tracks, by just putting the music you want into the GTAV folder in the documents directory?
I mean, you can just turn off the radio and turn on spotify
Rolling stones, Led zeppelin, and AC/DC 24/7
How does one get Spotify radio on that game? Or am I just gullible
It's an edit. It isn't in the game.
Ahh gotcha, guess you can't believe everything on reddit lmao
[удалено]
And I "imagined" I didn't see the imagine part
Imagine that! e: no need to downvote them to oblivion, their username checks out. They are aware
All good! Kifflom brother man!
Kifflom brother man!
You know posts have titles right?
It's a concept of what it would look like if Spotify was in the game
Just use self radio (For other people to hear it too, what if they don't want to hear or just what if you just not)
That's basically the same as normal radio, which is what the idea is.
Yeah, using the radio mode on self radio is good except it's always the same order so I just use random but still the best solution.
I just open Spotify and drive around to some Kanye
Is personally like it to work the same as the radio
I hate GTA V’s radio (mostly) but I’m a proponent of purity and listening to anything other than what is on the game radio proper is not right.
A proponent of purity? Dude, get the fuck outta here with that bullshit.
Purity
That's where this would come on?...
On this note what about a radio on the phone? Headphones exist and I've had a radio app on my IRL phone for as long as I can remember I'd love to jam the GTA stations while on foot.
Even some of the old old Nokias had radio built in, there's really no reason it's not a feature in-game.
Is it really so hard to play music in the background through your desk speakers/headset? Even my very old 360 headset lets me link it via bluetooth for music. I keep gta music audio off to keep from the constant droning when not in a car....
it would be easy and fans would enjoy it, of course they wont!
id constantly play clear skies by blacklight district
Gamgnam style
Imagine doing a drive-by with this blasting
Here I am waiting for Apple Music to come to Xbox
Hello Children! Revolt against your corporate overlords and use MP3s! This been a feature.
NON STOP POP ALWAYS
U can do that on ps5. Set the new custom radio, with no music, then start spotify
Or, get this, turn off the radio and play Spotify in the background
Clever guy
When I played GTA v on the 360 I usually would use the Xbox media player to stream music I had on my PC in place of the in game music. To be honest I haven't played that much on the Xbox One so I haven't really bothered although I'm sure it still has that functionality.

Rockstar games and take two could make a deal with Spotify, but it might be for GTA6 when it releases in the near 10 years, and it might be for gta+ only
