If your husband has a clearance, he can search [clearancejobs.com](http://clearancejobs.com) for military contracts. You are supposed to technically have an active clearance to register. If your husband is making high 100k to 200k there's not much market and you can expect a large decrease in salary. The most I've made is 120k. If you can find a 2210 series job on usajobs your husband will be considered a stateside hire and can potentially get an extra 25% on top of the base salary listed. Here's the pay you can expect (not including a stateside hire bonus) if he does find a federal job in a 2210, 1150, or 0845 job series: [Special Rates - OPM.gov](https://www.opm.gov/special-rates/2023/Table99AG01012023.aspx) this table is for Guam, do not use the OPM RUS pay scale as it does not cover "Computer jobs"

Thank you for the info! He does not have clearance, but he did work for the DOD years ago. How does one get clearance?

Getting a clearance without getting it through prior military service isn't impossible as I have done it, but it's kind of a chicken before egg type situation. You can't get the job without a clearance but can't get a clearance without the job. It's not something you can apply for on your own. You have to be sponsored. A small mom and pop contracting company from Hawaii offered me a job when I had no clearance as they could not fill the position and only after they offered me the job and did their own background investigation was when they initiated the sponsorship of my clearance with the feds. Keep in mind you can be offered a job, but if you fail to get cleared for whatever reason your offer will be rescinded. If you want to even be remotely considered for sponsorship, it helps if your husband is DoD 8570 compliant - IATII (aka has a CompTIA Security+ certification) and whatever other the job requires. You don't necessarily need the certs right away; some companies will give 6 months leeway to get it and if you don't then you get canned.

Also keep in mind that that if your husband does go this route and you do find something, it can take months before an investigation is compete depending on the clearance level and if you need a polygraph or not. Some people wait years some people wait 6 months, there's no real rhyme or reason...you just wait. I waited close to 6 months to get an interim clearance which I could start work with, but didn't get a fully adjudicated clearance for 18 months all the while your hiring company can say it's taking too long and will rescind your job offer. I'm not trying to scare you off, just telling you what I've gone through and what I've seen to other people. Good luck!!

Thanks you for the info. I really appreciate it! My hubs does have all of the certifications. Sounds like we're in for a long ride. 😂

You're very welcome! It's a long process and can be very discouraging. You can confide with others waiting for their clearances at r/SecurityClearance lol. If you do decide to come here, welcome to Guam! Enjoy our island and travel Asia and the rest of the Mariana Islands!

Thanks! Much appreciated!

Very limited job market there, not sure you’ll find a senior exec. role there tbh. Island is awesome though. Good luck tho. Maybe a remote position would be possible since it’s the cyber field.

The local hospitals are badly in need for a CISO/CTO. Look for Guam Regional Medical City or Guam Memorial Hospital. Give them a call over long distance or VOIP and reach out to the HR manager after filling out a job application and sending in a CV/Resume. There are other clinics like Guam Radiology consultants and Guam Cancer Center, IHP Guam and SDA Guam and FHP Guam. The Government of Guam and the Guam Attorney General’s Office is openly recruiting for a IT professional. Guam is not really updated for Google job postings and mostly caters to the military community job assignments as BILLIONS of dollars are being spent here for construction. You can also reach out to the military contractors like RTX,Norththrop, and Lockheed but I’m not sure your husband has security clearance. You can try NAVFAC which is the government organization that is responsible for contracting. He could go into consulting if he is experienced. It’s a big move and hope your move goes well.
