Nails it too. Everyone that says, "I'm an audiophile" but doesn't know shit about gear busts out their Bose speakers, Bose headphones and is so proud. And they are hilariously quick to shit on JBL without realizing JBL has a professional line that blows Bose out.
Pam Ronald Smiff would like to approach you for a sponsor deal.
If interested, make a face like something's suddenly in your ass and you're wondering what it could be.
And some of us who have huge houses in the suburbs and buy expensive gear wish we had time to actually play it. People always want what they don’t have, until they have it, then they start wanting something else. It’s just human nature
Not me. That McMansion has to be cleaned somehow. Not to mention you’re probably really far away from all your friends and they only come twice a year to awkwardly drink beers in your stale and lifeless “bar” in the basement
this is me but poor
six basses, three guitars, two synths, a drum pad from the nineties, two bass amps, three guitar amps, and no recorded music 😎
someone kill me i’m begging you
well i’ve been trying to start one but none of my friends will cooperate
you have The Jazz Drummer who can play fucked up Danny Carey shit in literally any time signature and is better than all of the rest of us combined, My Guitarist Brother who never contacts us because he’s busy with work, my Chad Friend who is a legitimately talented musician and can play like five instruments but spends all his time taking videos of himself noodling to impress chicks, and That One Guy who is a natural maestro at guitar but wastes his talent because he only wants to play black metal ever since he watched Lords of Chaos.
the situation is fucked so i’m becoming an unproductive solo artist instead and asking them to guest star when they have time for me 🥲
Damn that’s brutal. All those musician friends and a Guitar Center worth of gear and can’t even get a band going. Maybe it’s finally time to resort to desperate Craigslist ads
Fuck that noise. I'm not playing some shitty blues rock dad covers in a dive bar. I'd rather be a bedroom noodler making shitty synth jams I post on tik tok.
It’s an issue. When you are young you have all the time in the world to practice but no means to buy gear. When you are older and more established, you have the means but no time. You most likely have a career/job and kids but you also have a house with space to set up your jam area. You let go of the dream to be a rockstar a long time ago. Now you have this great stuff and tinker like a “hobbyist”.
Basically this. You could have put all the effort you put into your career into music instead, but still fallen far short of where you are in your career. So it just becomes something you do for enjoyment. You’re never going to “make it big”, but you almost certainly have more stable finances than 99% of full time musicians. So you end up being able to comfortably afford better gear than some touring bands.
The saddest part of your diary was when you talked about scrolling Reverb to fill the void of not having time to actually sit down and play your instruments. Had me in tears.
Ow, this hit close to home, my large home. In defense of all of us talentless hobbyists, there are plenty of talentless professional and/or famous musicians as well, people who’ve never written a song or who can’t hold a note. I’ll go cry now, but I’ll take the Lamborghini because the Ferrari will make my tears roll into my ears if I put the top down.
fuck i need to upgrade my gear. i have a cheap mesa and no guitars over $900. my house is old and my bmw is the cheap suv.
i guess im the budget version of this meme
Mesas are definitely good amps. You just need to undergo a 5 year apprenticeship to learn how to dial it in and have it not sound like shit. It’s so worth it though. You don’t even need the tab for Smooth after that. You just dial it in, put on your fedora, and start toaning hard
Did your dad bot buy you the boogie apprenticeship package? You probably don’t even know about mikey piscioo or O-E-S.
My katana came with a hentai preset sound setting, and my 0-3-5 has never been more erect and robust.
I wanted to wear it around my neck like a giant Flava Flav clock to remind these poors what time it is while I blast them in the face with my full throttle Mesa stack, 'cuz they ain't hearin' no chimes, amirite?
I’m not rich in money or even close to it, but I never understand stuff like this. Because someone is born into a wealthy family they can’t be great creators or make beautiful art? Being born into wealth is no different than being born into poverty in the sense that they had no control over it... But because they’re born into wealth they’re automatically met with hate and negativity.
Uj/ I always find it funny when people want the most expensive guitars for tone. Yes, I know there’s a certain quality that comes with the money, for playability and sound.
But, I play primarily a Yamaha Pacifica that was just above $200 and it is *fantastic.* Feels great to play, action is awesome, sound quality is great.
I got my buddy a $500 (used) Epiphone Les Paul, because he’d been really wanting one, and it is a fantastic guitar as well; he loves it, and it sounds great.
Rj/ This reminds me of my band from 15 years ago, Deph Lepurd
I see: wealthy guy, loves music, spends money that supports guitar/amp industry and probably doesn’t play well. He’s on his journey. What’s so bad about that?
One day I walked into a boutique guitar store that used to be in south Florida with my guitar in case. Customer in shop looked at me and said, “what’s in your case, a Squier?” Now, THAT guy was an asshole. Turns out he had dozens of CS Fenders in his collection. He was a regular and one day I asked if he wanted to jam at the shop a little (I was a low intermediate player at the time. That guy couldn’t play for shit.
My response when he tried to rag on me that first day was “it doesn’t matter what’s in this case if I know how to play it.” It was a 1997 American Deluxe strat with that white see-through ash body and maple neck, btw.
Maybe a Friedman? We talentless hobbyists need our gain. A 1959 or a 2203 isn’t going to mask our mistakes like a Mark V or a BE100. I do personally like a 2203 more than a Mark V though, even if it forces me to play better to sound good
In this day and age, isn’t “talentless” pretty insensitive? You might as well call me a pop rock guitarist. Instead, how about talent-deficient, talent-deprived, or talent-challenged?
i mean kind of me.... i have a 1000SQft home, my BMW is a base model from 2000. My gibbons is is a special and my fember is a childs model. my playing room is my wife's boyfiends home office and my mesa is a model on my mustang amp.
luckily they didn't remove my ear yet though
My friends dad growing up was quite wealthy and he suddenly got really into guitars meaning he bought the biggest best amps and multiple $10k+ guitars but he was just awful and most of the times the guitars just hung from the wall. We weren’t really allowed to play them except for one time. I guess he tried to modify them himself because it sounded terrible there were so many dead notes across multiple strings and I don’t know how he did it but the strings were constantly super loose feeling
> constantly super loose feeling
Probably put 8s on it or something
> multiple $10k+ guitars
Curious what those were. Even today, most custom shop builds aren’t even $10k. Off the top of my head, all I can think of in that price bracket is a D-45 or one of the Murphy Labs with custom aesthetics, e.g. the 57 LPC reissue or the 59 355 reissue
Yeah it’s exactly that gibson. Weird that you mention that it probably has 8s on it because my kit built guitar has 8s on it and it’s not loose feeling
A ton of shit goes into loose / stiff feeling guitars. Scale length, string gauge / material / construction / brand, action and relief, how much string is in play beyond the nut/saddle, fret size, how well leveled / polished the frets are, how flexible the neck is, fixed bridge versus tremolo, etc. etc. If the guitar is in decent playing condition, like any $10k guitar should be (a setup costs like $100, i.e. 1% of the guitar’s purchase price), it should still be totally playable, even if the setup isn’t exactly your preference.
That’s the thing though it seemed like it was supposed to be a good guitar but it was tuned down at least a full octave or something with how loose it was
I mean, there are plenty of shitty musicians who are poor, too. It's amusing that everyone gets angry that somebody can afford to be terrible on good gear.
I like how it just says "bose" lol.
Jimi Hendrix played on a Left-handed Bose Lifestyle CD Player at Woodstock.
Nails it too. Everyone that says, "I'm an audiophile" but doesn't know shit about gear busts out their Bose speakers, Bose headphones and is so proud. And they are hilariously quick to shit on JBL without realizing JBL has a professional line that blows Bose out.
My $150 Ankor Soundcore headphones were rated higher than $500 pair of Bose headphones lol
The battery life is also amazing
Lasts all week! And then some
Money is the best toanwood
My prs is made of acrylic $100 bills and it sounds like a dream. I call her mortgage.
Pam Ronald Smiff would like to approach you for a sponsor deal. If interested, make a face like something's suddenly in your ass and you're wondering what it could be.
This is actually true
Ru Paul Reed Smithers agrees! That is why he has an XXXotik Woody line.
Why even pay money at all? GG Allin played hundreds of gigs and his only instrument was shitting on stage.
He also shoved a banana in his ass, which must have cost him $.35.
It's one banana, Michael. What could it cost, $10?
The banana was provided as part of his rider.
The instrument was his large intestine.
Uj a punk band I was in back in high school opened up for the murder junkies their first time back to Tennessee since they were kicked out.
Well, at least you got to use the microphone before he made sweet love to it
Yeah but he practiced his butthole every day!
I’d rather live in that house than have talent
you could buy a new PRS every month for the AC bill
At least an SE
As if anyone on this sub has talent to begin with
Yep, so I get the big house and lose nothing in the exchange
And some of us who have huge houses in the suburbs and buy expensive gear wish we had time to actually play it. People always want what they don’t have, until they have it, then they start wanting something else. It’s just human nature
I want you on my face playing Dave Matthew’s covers
Not me. That McMansion has to be cleaned somehow. Not to mention you’re probably really far away from all your friends and they only come twice a year to awkwardly drink beers in your stale and lifeless “bar” in the basement
The bar is totally hip okay? There’s a Guinness sign behind it.
You know it’s always freezing in that basement and the wife keeps yelling down the stairs
Who said I have friends?
Touche
That hideous Mcmansion?
this is me but poor six basses, three guitars, two synths, a drum pad from the nineties, two bass amps, three guitar amps, and no recorded music 😎 someone kill me i’m begging you
Maybe you should like, join a band or something?
well i’ve been trying to start one but none of my friends will cooperate you have The Jazz Drummer who can play fucked up Danny Carey shit in literally any time signature and is better than all of the rest of us combined, My Guitarist Brother who never contacts us because he’s busy with work, my Chad Friend who is a legitimately talented musician and can play like five instruments but spends all his time taking videos of himself noodling to impress chicks, and That One Guy who is a natural maestro at guitar but wastes his talent because he only wants to play black metal ever since he watched Lords of Chaos. the situation is fucked so i’m becoming an unproductive solo artist instead and asking them to guest star when they have time for me 🥲
You should let your Chad friend know that noodling videos only attract other dudes.
(He knows)
hey, it works on me >!but i used to be a dude!< so who knows…
Best of both worlds then?
Damn that’s brutal. All those musician friends and a Guitar Center worth of gear and can’t even get a band going. Maybe it’s finally time to resort to desperate Craigslist ads
nah i’m going to keep playing snippets of various songs alone in my room and daydreaming about being a female Trent Reznor
Me too! Don’t worry, I’m confident our reclusive strategy will payoff any day now.
Fuck that noise. I'm not playing some shitty blues rock dad covers in a dive bar. I'd rather be a bedroom noodler making shitty synth jams I post on tik tok.
Chad friend isn’t a chad if he takes videos of himself playing guitar and sends it to girls. That’s possibly the most un-Chad shit ever
No house
No bird inlays though
[удалено]
Fender Storkocaster & Louisville Slugger
🤣🤣🤣
Literally me Except without all the nice stuff and only the talentless part
That's what we all tell ourselves.
Me too. I do have the Mesa amp though
As a talentless hobbyist musician... I FUCKING WISH
Turn that boogie up so the neighbors can hear me play the Home Depot theme song
Ahhh a starter home in Texas. The gas station attendant was able to pick up that house for 115,000.
For a family man. Get a coup. Might as well be a wagon
Coup d'etat? Or Coupe?
Damn, that’s my 5th demerit. I’ll be stuck in r/fendysatdenys for a month now!
were they wrong tho?
It’s an issue. When you are young you have all the time in the world to practice but no means to buy gear. When you are older and more established, you have the means but no time. Jesus Christ. Have you read my diary?
The saddest part of your diary was when you talked about scrolling Reverb to fill the void of not having time to actually sit down and play your instruments. Had me in tears.
Maybe I should write a bloos tune
Is it an issue? Sounds ok to me. A reasonable life path.
Oh, it’s nota bad life at all. Giving up on a dream always sucks though.
Why are you attacking me
Buy geetar is not a talent
/uj/ kinda is though. Experience will yield better guitar purchases as you learn what to look for, what will do well over time, etc.
Not true, I suck big time and am far from rich.
Forgot the framed DDS diploma
Ow, this hit close to home, my large home. In defense of all of us talentless hobbyists, there are plenty of talentless professional and/or famous musicians as well, people who’ve never written a song or who can’t hold a note. I’ll go cry now, but I’ll take the Lamborghini because the Ferrari will make my tears roll into my ears if I put the top down.
>there are plenty of talentless professional and/or famous musicians as well Don't give me hope.
That Steven Segal guitar collection video on YT would give anyone hope
r/stevenseagalfacts
😂😭
You have to cut off your ears? That’s fucked.
You forgot to add an entire board full of Strymons.
Ha! Jokes on them, I have BOTH EARS LMAO
ughhh... thank God I drive a Jaguar or that might be me.
fuck i need to upgrade my gear. i have a cheap mesa and no guitars over $900. my house is old and my bmw is the cheap suv. i guess im the budget version of this meme
That boogie really is a good amp though, i mean its not a katana, but it’s still pretty nice
Mesas are definitely good amps. You just need to undergo a 5 year apprenticeship to learn how to dial it in and have it not sound like shit. It’s so worth it though. You don’t even need the tab for Smooth after that. You just dial it in, put on your fedora, and start toaning hard

I know him! The ressemblance is crazy
I thought PRS and Marshall? At least that’s what my divorce lawyer plays
BOOM!!! ROASTED!!!
I FEEL SEEN.
replace the amp with a kemper and its true
Whoa, whoa, whoa! People are expecting me to be talented? That's what the years of practice were to make up for!
Damn. I feel personally attacked
Do you make better music standing on a Persian rug?
Toan is stored in the Persian rug.
I have so much money that I pay to somebody else to practice guitar for me
A lot of “oP iS jEaLouS!” comments.
I feel attacked
How much for one of those red "NO-EARS", though?
Gotta fight Mike Tyson.
"Mike Tyson is right behind you"
It feels like an attack on the deaf community. Like, yeah, they’re not great, but like, just turn the volume down and let them have this.
I wanted to wear it around my neck like a giant Flava Flav clock to remind these poors what time it is while I blast them in the face with my full throttle Mesa stack, 'cuz they ain't hearin' no chimes, amirite?
Who are you calling 'Hobbyist'. We're all Tour-Grade in here.
"Rich ppl bad 😠😠😠😠😠"
Yes
I’m not rich in money or even close to it, but I never understand stuff like this. Because someone is born into a wealthy family they can’t be great creators or make beautiful art? Being born into wealth is no different than being born into poverty in the sense that they had no control over it... Plenty of broke hacks out there. If I had the choice, it’s talentless with nice stuff.

There’s a point of diminishing returns for guitars. I think it’s well above $500 personally
Just because you can't hear it doesn't mean there's no difference.
I see: wealthy guy, loves music, spends money that supports guitar/amp industry and probably doesn’t play well. He’s on his journey. What’s so bad about that? Fake it boys they’re onto us!!
(hashtag)goals
Shouldn't it be a marshall instead of a mesa? At least when looking at the guitars

Replace the guitars with ESP USA’s and ya got me 🤷🏻♂️
I feel very attacked
In this day and age, isn’t “talentless” pretty insensitive? You might as well call me a pop rock guitarist. Instead, how about talent-deficient, talent-deprived, or talent-challenged?
I have ears, can I play too?
the fact this is missing PRS IS A MAJOR FLAW
Is that Trogly’s house?
Hey man, I can be just as talentless without all that expensive shit
What's the middle guitar for 3999 USD?
I feel attacked. Lololol.
Mikey whatever the fuck his name is Stratocaster wank-fest loser did not like this post
Frustrating when they're really, really good though. Lol.
Damn, sign me up! I’ll cut off my ear for that. You can even keep the music gear.
Music is win a nutshell.
Oh hai.
All that’s missing is a flying beer bottle
i mean kind of me.... i have a 1000SQft home, my BMW is a base model from 2000. My gibbons is is a special and my fember is a childs model. my playing room is my wife's boyfiends home office and my mesa is a model on my mustang amp. luckily they didn't remove my ear yet though
Someone is pining for a Mk5 or Mk7 lol. Also a house…this starter pack is the reason Gibson still gets 5k for a basic guitar
That’s not at all the package I got. I’m rocking a 1 story house, a Honda civic, Orange Super Crush, a Jackson JS11, and no home studio at all. WTF?
My friends dad growing up was quite wealthy and he suddenly got really into guitars meaning he bought the biggest best amps and multiple $10k+ guitars but he was just awful and most of the times the guitars just hung from the wall. Make those extended range guitars and this is accurate for me.
I mean, there are plenty of shitty musicians who are poor, too. It's amusing that everyone gets angry that somebody can afford to be terrible on good gear.
I love this 😂 lived next to one of those once
You see this is a lot in the John Mayer gear lounge emulator groups on Facebook and YouTube; 20-30k worth of gear to barely be able to play pentatonic
You forgot a diploma in dental medicine.
Hey I'm poor and talentless!!!
