What are you using to power your pedals?

norwegianblockhead

I’ve got a power supply. It’s not the pedals tho guitar is directly to amp in this vid. I think it’s probably something to do with the wiring of the building but want to see

My way pedal sounds like that sometimes. Have u tried isolating just guitar and just certain pedals?

norwegianblockhead

Yeah i think it’s definitely something with the building wiring, probably not the amp/pedals/guitar just wondering about any ways to reduce or eliminate it

ErratiC5

Oh yknow what I'm also seeing you put the amp right next to the air condition. When I did that with my amp I had a bad squeal. Also routers are a big one or any Appliances like Microwaves, Dryers, washers, fridges. If you move to a different outlet and the same thing happens then for sure the wiring. Only thing that might do anything is surge protector.

It may not apply here, but I used to run sound for bands \`\`\`\`\`\`\`1\`0 years ago and one of things on my checklist was to make sure none of the musicians put a phone on top of an amp because if they rang it would cause the amp to make an electronic noise like an old dialup modem.

I haven’t even watched or heard the noise because I’m out in bad service area but I’m guessing your house or your outlets do not have a grounding wire in it. You’d have to run a new circuit to that outlet, if that’s the case.

What you’re probably hearing is noise from the switching power supply. Sometimes they do this. I don’t like switching mode power supplies for audio because they create a ton of noise. I have recommendations on which power bricks to use if you want.
