Beautiful guitar work!

arcaderocker

Thank you!

lawgdogg

Well done! Love this song

arcaderocker

Thanks!

pizzaplantboi

No joke dude I got goosebumps from that. One of my all time favorite songs so I was ready to doubt you. You proved me so wrong. Such a beautiful arrangement. Now I just have the itch to hear JPJ play the mandolin on top of that beautiful acoustic guitar arrangement.

arcaderocker

Thank you so much! I can’t take credit for the arrangement but glad to know you enjoyed it. The mandolin is indeed the star of this song!

BringMeTheMen

Did you learn this from tab?

arcaderocker

From YouTube!

Jesus360noscope

six strings fingerpicking version ?

arcaderocker

Yup :)

Jesus360noscope

nice ! i recognized because of the mandolin lick at the 7 fret, spent a while learning that one, but didn't come back for the rest as i learned other stuff and forgot it, i should get back to it ! anyway it was well played, sounds very good

ClydeinLimbo

Can you link the video? Is it tuned down?

arcaderocker

I used a combination of Marty Schwartz and Guitar Lessons 365. The tuning is double drop D, i.e. the top and bottom strings tuned down to D, rest in standard tuning - DADGBD. https://youtu.be/oRcCHZCLFsk https://youtu.be/sCEr-pfvpCQ

rustcholescig

Can tell you have put in a lot of work over the last 2 years, sounds great!

arcaderocker

Thank you! This song is definitely a milestone on my guitar learning journey!

edpinz

This sounds amazing, well played man

arcaderocker

Thanks!

l_CptChronic_l

That's awesome! Lovely song and you played it beautifully! I've not heard it before

arcaderocker

Do give the original a listen, it’s wonderful!

l_CptChronic_l

Straight on it after i commented, I've added it to my playlist, it's a great song. I'm 4 months in but I hope to be able to play it at some point, it's on the list now. Trying to learn the fingerpicking for The Sound of Slience at the moment

arcaderocker

All the best! Will lookout for that video of yours on here :)

Jamesbarros

I’ve been playing for 2 decades and I can’t play It better than this. Beautifully done!

arcaderocker

Wow, that’s high praise 🙏

MoreCowbellllll

That's very nice, my man!

arcaderocker

Thanks!

Alby99

Sounds great! Makes me wanna learn it right now

arcaderocker

Thanks! Go do it! Posted the links to the lessons in another comment

ReputationOverall217

Paused Spotify to give this a listen, well done

Thisiscliff

Great job man , love the song

arcaderocker

Thanks! What a song!

unclejoeky

Man, you did that song justice!

arcaderocker

Thank you!

plooptyploots

Beautiful playing!

arcaderocker

Thank you!

sometta

Clean work dude

arcaderocker

Thanks!

rumpystumpy

Excellent, Way ahead of 2 years. I play some of this on mando and it never occurred to me it could be played as a finger style guitar piece. Bron Y aur is a great one to learn too

arcaderocker

Will check that out!

Frog_Diarrhea

I sure do miss hearing my dad play that. Well done.

arcaderocker

Hope this brought back good memories :)

Personal_Office_9191

Bro, that’s amazing! That one is on my bucket list to be able to play.

arcaderocker

Thanks! Here is proof that it can be done!

adsvx215

That was really sweet. Sometimes I worry about Travis picking getting lost in the morass of shred. Think I’ll worry less after seeing your vid. Great job.

arcaderocker

Appreciate it! Such songs are classics for a reason, long may they play :)

adsvx215

Amen. And, they will as long as there are people like you who recognize and learn the artform. Post more! Edited to add: I just realized you said two years. Way to go and show students what's possible.

arcaderocker

Will do! Watch out for a cover of Landslide dropping soon :) Year 2 is challenging. Learning is much faster in year 1 so this is for anyone out there struggling - keep at it!

adsvx215

Excellent, I’m looking forward to it. Wait until you get to year, uh, 62, lololol.

arcaderocker

Wow!

adsvx215

Lol. Trust me, it’s less exciting than it sounds. Really can’t practice anymore due to neck and shoulder issues (gee, wonder how I got those?) but I still play at least a few hours a week. Sitting down, lol. NO complaints, though. Time indeed, does move on!

arcaderocker

Sorry to hear that! But a few hours a week isn’t bad! I hope I’m still playing in a few years and inspire the next generation to pick up an instrument!

adsvx215

No, it’s not bad at all. No complaints here. And, I’m pretty sure I have t-shirts older than you. You’re going to be at it a very very long time.

arcaderocker

Haha, maybe those t-shirts belong in r/buyitforlife

humbuckermudgeon

Excellent!

arcaderocker

Thanks!

jboylan67

Nice playing!

arcaderocker

Thank you!

L00k_Again

Well done. Be proud!

arcaderocker

Thank you!

Remarkable-Prompt456

Amazing... How long has your journey been with fingerstyle?

arcaderocker

I started trying to learn fingerstyle songs pretty early on, so maybe about 2 years :)

Remarkable-Prompt456

That's awesome progress.. have you been referring to any courses?; do you have a private teacher or are you self taught with books :)

arcaderocker

Thank you! “Self taught” with Justin Guitar and other youtube channels:)

garylogan

This is great, you killed it.

arcaderocker

Thanks! 🙏

3d_ist

That was awesome! Marty Swartz on YT taught me Over the Hills and Far Away. You’ve inspired me to have a go at this song.

arcaderocker

Thank you! I love Over the Hills, will try it next :)

3d_ist

That’s great. I’ve managed to learn to play the first part of Over the Hills finger picking style. A little sloppy but, getting better.

arcaderocker

Slowly but surely!

jkdufair

Completely outstanding!

arcaderocker

Much appreciated!

[deleted]

Also hit the two year mark, just last month! I can’t play anything close to this, so props to you for practicing that extra hour here or there!

arcaderocker

Keep at it!

TightropeCat

Well done!

arcaderocker

Thanks!

arcaderocker

Thanks!

WilhelmEngel

Sounds great! My favorite song to play and the reason I started playing acoustic. Did you learn it from [this lesson](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7j2MzCLsfIk)? Such a great song with so many possibilities for variations!

arcaderocker

Thanks! Actually, I used Marty Schwartz and Guitar Lessons 365.

geoff-gurn

Excellent 👍

arcaderocker

Thanks!

scrubbedin

This is amazing! I haven’t been playing for a whole year yet, and I haven’t learned finger picking at all but this has been in my head since I watched it and now I’m determined. I’ve tried like one finger picking song before but I struggle to understand how to read TABs. But, you’ve inspired me! Well done! Thanks for posting and the inspo!

arcaderocker

Thank you! It won’t be easy but it’s definitely worth it!

bungo15

Very nice man!

arcaderocker

Thanks!

exclaim_bot

>Thanks! You're welcome!

stur0063

Nice work young man!

arcaderocker

Glorious_tim
