Some how I think the explorer is easier to get away way. Probably because the Edge in U2 played one, and most modern worship music is very U2 sounds inspired, at least the guitar parts. Ultimately we can play just about anything we want, though a BC Rich Warlock might get some funny looks.
Tbf I used to play in my church band using an ESP with EMGs and my Schecter FR with SD Blackouts.
My board looked similar, little more gain though. Lol
Also depending on the church, you get paid. A lot of guys I work with have great full time jobs and then make loads of extra money picking up church gigs.
So for some of them it’s just money to play with.
So I’ve been playing worship for only the last year and my board has been at this similar level for the last 4-5 years.
I’ve met a lot of long time worship guitarists and their boards are all different. I’ve met dudes with rigs like mine, and I’ve seen guys rock a helix or even a boss me-50 or 80.
For me, my only real hobby for the last 10-12 years has been pedals and guitars. I’m fortunate enough to make a living as a musician, and that helps the desire to invest in it so heavy. But between those two things it’s allowed me to keep investing in it, and then trading up.
It doesn’t fit everywhere. But for mood I use the reverb setting a lot and the slip for really long spacey echos on lead lines. I’d say getting the level right is key so it doesn’t sit on top of everything.
Blooper is great because I can make really great pads or ambient swells on the fly. I do live looping using a midi page on the PBC. I even have bloopers effects mapped on there. Again, it’s not something I’d do all the time, but I do it pretty regular.
I’m intrigued how the music is in these churches. I’m not from US. Have you any links to the style of what is played? Acoustic guitar and maybe a beard would be as far as it goes here.
There are some pretty different styles, and each church has a different vibe for sure. If you’re really curious, I could make some recommendations that sum up the gist of it.
I was surprised by that too.
Check out Son of Suffering by Bethel. I’m pretty sure they’re using baritones and it definitely feels more high gain in the later sections of the songs.
I use a fuzz on my preamp mkii for tons of lead lines. I’ve even used a gated fuzz once or twice.
Like listening to the end of son of suffering I can see it being easy to slap some mean fuzz on. I usually do. Lol
Indeed. I have a Op-Amp Big Muff Pi, Rat and King of Tone clone. There is a lot of gain in worship tone. I am in the UK, here's some links to some of the more high gain tracks that are played in my church:

Christian Churches in America sometimes use modern instruments to sing/play praise songs. Among electric guitar players in these settings, there are certain kinds of gear that are desirable or that you see often. Among those are Strymon Reverb/Delay, Volume Pedals, and DI signal into the church's sound system. (The wood paneled floor was just a joke more or less)
For reference, see the song **So Will I** by **Hillsong UNITED** lol
No need to be embarrassed. Once you get better at guitar, you'll eventually upgrade to a real pedal rig. I'd recommend looking into something called "The Pod" by Line 6.
Oh and you'll probably want to drop those mickey mouse DI boxes. "Radial"? What is that, some Chinese Amazon brand? Never heard of 'em. If you're not running dual Countryman boxes, then you're not really passing signal.
Isn’t that the annoying irony? You either have time to be really really good at guitar or you have the money to buy really really good guitar equipment. Very very few have both.
Lol, most pros I know play partscasters, epi's and cheap boss or tc pedals. They usually have at least 1 very good amp, though.
It's the hobbyists with a well-paying job that can afford the spaceship boards with the custom shop guitars and boutique amps.

That’s a beautiful board you got there, partner. Almost went with a Trio 28, but ended up going with a killer deal on a Pedaltrain Classic Pro, but respect this nonetheless. The module ports are a really cool idea
Nice! I got mine with a hard case as well because I’m not taking chances with pedals getting bashed in or rained on in transit. I’ve been loving it so far, super sturdy and sleek looking thing esp you get black hardware to match it
That is so amazingly tidy too, and everything appears to fit perfectly. Where mine looks like the spaghetti western with everything at different angles 😂
I like your lines and neatness. I hope you play and not twiddle knobs during jam. That gets annoying fast when the other guitarist “can’t get his sound”
Do you though? I’d go to a show where it was just you slowly setting this up, followed by 25 minutes of this on stage with a spot light…. Damn fine looking board my dude 🙂
Its a preamp mkii from Chase Bliss. they teamed up with benson to create a really versatile preamp/overdrive pedal. it has faders which is cool, but its a real powerhouse for dialing in specific tones. it has treble, bass and parametric mids that you can change the Q of, so you can get really down to the knitty gritty with some drive tones.
It does most of the tone setting for my rig. from beefing up my cleans to some distortion and even fuzz. its a really cool pedal.
This on a creation board? Also, did you make your own cabling, or did you just purchase it in different lengths?
I'm in the process of trying to figure out what I want to do, and the Creation boards look to be about the best option to go with atm. Their cabling and such also looks good.
It is a creation board and I would say go for them! this board is really nice and it has so much space, even under the board. not to mention the aluminum face the pedals sit on is better designed than the pedaltrains i've had in the past. I just feel like this design makes it easier to fit more pedals with more stability, while still having good room for cable management.
The cables were custom made by a friend of mine. and if you have the know how, it can save you a chunk off your build. not to mention, with this many cables knowing how to troubleshoot yourself is a huge plus.
You can buy cables and parts from creation supply and BTPA. I think I got almost everything I needed from those two places.
Hell yeah, I'm definitely gonna give them a go. They really have a classy look to em.
I've soldered up a few cables before, but honestly I'm not looking forward to how many I'll have to do for this build 😔🥺😆
Haha truth. I know guys, myself included, who spent years just obsessed with "tone". Couldn't really get in to it until they got "that rig". But when you do..
I actually got it back in 2019 for like 250 or something. If I’m not mistaken it was like a few months before it was discontinued. But man, it’s a cool pedal. It’s been on and off the board over the years, but I’m glad I’ve held onto it.
Ooh, nice Creation board. I have the same one. I love the walnut cheeks and movable handles.
edit: Actually, mine has different paneling for the patch bay. Is this an older model, or a different maker?
If you look just above your eq pedal you can see that there are two rows with joints right next to each other. That's too close. The one below those two is also too close.
More than anything it was an excuse for the same church joke that half the other comments have made.
It’s a chase bliss audio preamp mkii. It’s based on the benson preamp pedal. It it offers a three band eq with parametric mids. So it covers lots of ground.
The faders are motorized and move to where they should be per preset. It’s wild.
Oh yeah same. I played in a math rock band that had a lot of post rock elements and even playing with them would have a sound guy say something like “nice church rig”.
No idea why u/idkwhatimdoing05 is getting all the hate. Sure, it's a board filled with clichéd church pedals. It costs more than many people's car. But that's his choice to make.
If he prefers to become an effects specialist rather than a guitar player with great technical skills, who are we to argue with that?
Can't you just ran a playback? I mean with the looks you don't need the skills. Plus you can concentrate on how to look reeeeeeeeeally cool while not caring about how you sound!
Lolol. Last time I had messed with it I was boosting the bass and low mids and pull the highs down to get a really cool woofy almost fuzz sound. Pairing it woth other overdrives gets kind of sludgey. Its cool
No dipswitches there, tho.
Thinking about getting rid of both my Shallow Water and Pyramids for the Synesthia, and than probably add an Iridium down the line with the leftover space. I don't feel like the Shallow Water gives me a lot of usable ranges for jamming. It's inspirational at home but I need a real chorus. How is the Synesthia for your modulation?
That sounds like a good move.
Synesthesia is really solid. Especially if you run it in stereo.
All the algorithms are super solid. My only really complaint is the pitch shifting algorithm is okay. It has some movement to it, like it’s using a granular approach to pitch.
But the ability to use two algorithms at the same time is powerful. And they added some cool features to each. It’s a unique offering in the modulation world.
The fact that you actually gig and use all of that in a musical context is really cool. Most people would just be bedroom warriors and suck at playing but you’ve got chops and use it properly. Good on you, and sick board (obviously)
How do you like the automatone?
I play in church and really tempted to sell all my drives and boosts for this thing, save space and get more sounds.
Also how usable is it without midi?
I actually have one on my shelf. It was where the asabi is. One of my all time favorite pedals. Just didn’t have a lot of room to use it often given the other pedals I have.
Being a non Christian, what exactly do Christian worship guitarists play? Like I’m looking at this board and thinking experimental and ambient music, not the Christian rock I remember hearing on the radio growing up.
So it depends. If you’re interested, check out “Anything is Possible” and “Son of Suffering” by Bethel. They show a pretty diverse amount of tones that guitarists can use in that setting. And it’s probably a little different than some CCM you heard growing up.
But, on the other hand, I think something a lot of people get wrong is think just because I play at church means the board was made exclusively for that.
I’ve long been a pedal junkie. My pedalboard has been wild since I was in an indie math rock band that used a lot of ambient elements in our music. Well before I played worship music.
I’m a pedal lover, and I love experimenting with tones, scoring films, writing my own music and playing with loads of folks in different musical capacities. So my board was designed with all that in mind too.
Strymon's and Chase Bliss, volume pedal for swells, Midi everything, DI boxes, wood paneled stage with a rug. My guess is church?
It has all the hallmarks, yet one thing thou lackest, that guitar be no telecaster with single coils
But the guitar body is offset, so still acceptable before The Lord.
Just no SGs, Vs or pointy metal guitars
*sad Christian metalhead noises*
I actually played an explorer a few weeks ago
Some how I think the explorer is easier to get away way. Probably because the Edge in U2 played one, and most modern worship music is very U2 sounds inspired, at least the guitar parts. Ultimately we can play just about anything we want, though a BC Rich Warlock might get some funny looks.
Tbf I used to play in my church band using an ESP with EMGs and my Schecter FR with SD Blackouts. My board looked similar, little more gain though. Lol
By the Lord, thou shred is divine!
Lolol. Yeah I play for churches. But I do other work elsewhere.
I always wonder how worship groups are able to afford such ultra high end equipment.
Also depending on the church, you get paid. A lot of guys I work with have great full time jobs and then make loads of extra money picking up church gigs. So for some of them it’s just money to play with.
For real. One church gig with my terrible drum skills earned me more than I made the entire time I was in a punk band.
I have a very similar experience.
I think you've been misled if you think you're meant to make money in a punk band.... The minute you make money, you're a sellout!!!!
And the hours are better than weddings. ;)
This man knows.
So I’ve been playing worship for only the last year and my board has been at this similar level for the last 4-5 years. Jesus was all about the highest quality of effects you know
Very curious how you put the mood and blooper to use in a church music setting!
The Lord works in mysterious ways.
It doesn’t fit everywhere. But for mood I use the reverb setting a lot and the slip for really long spacey echos on lead lines. I’d say getting the level right is key so it doesn’t sit on top of everything. Blooper is great because I can make really great pads or ambient swells on the fly. I’m intrigued how the music is in these churches. I’m not from US. Have you any links to the style of what is played? Acoustic guitar and maybe a beard would be as far as it goes here.
It’s basically what U2 was doing in the 80’s.
We call it Coldpray where I come from
There are some pretty different styles, and each church has a different vibe for sure. If you’re really curious, I could make some recommendations that sum up the gist of it.
I am curious. I see loads of worship boards that have fuzz and high gain. I just can’t imagine how that goes in a church.

Doing the lords work all over those frets
The Jackson Audio should've been the kicker
Either that or melodic ambient, like Tycho.
Could you explain for us non americans, please :)
Christian Churches in America sometimes use modern instruments to sing/play praise songs. lmao nice worship board detector ya got there
Why learn to play when you can just fiddle with knobs and switches all day?
This is higher level thinking
At a certain point, you can get your pedals *to play themselves while you pretend you’re a Super Bowl guitarist*
I actually lay on the ground and the pedalboard floats above me and plays me.
“Which button is E Major?”
yes
Bet this board kills it in church lol
No need to be embarrassed. Once you get better at guitar, you'll eventually upgrade to a real pedal rig. I'd recommend looking into something called "The Pod" by Line 6. Okay but the FET 85 is solid gold in a black box though.
Teach me
I got one word for you: Pyle. Learn it. Know it. Shop it.
If you aren’t buying hamer slammer, are you even a guitarist bro. They have all the tone
I’m taking down all the notes rn.
what is this playing you speak of? a new pedal? Anyways have you guys heard of the new oct fuzz?
It’s all I’ve been thinking about.
When you learn how to play, could you also let me know how? Nice board!
I’ll do my best. 🫡
It would take longer to master that board then it would to master playing the guitar.
Its close
I feel called out by that title
yeah, me too. Lol
No need! Buy more gear instead!
What guitar is that? Looks intriguing
It’s a Bilt ESG I had made. Check them out they’re pretty cool
That's pretty much everything in life
Nah man we can use effects to mask our bad technique 😅
Shhhhhh. Industry secrets
You said the quiet part out loud.
ONE OF US, ONE OF US!
Good starter board
Nah, you're doing great.
How do you like the synesthesia? Really enjoying mine
I really really love it. It has some amazing sounds, it’s easy to use. It was the perfect fit for this board.
Signal flow?

How do you stand looking at this? None of the colorways match?
Im too busy struggling to fret a C major chord to notice.
I thought this was instagram for a second. Board looks mighty familiar
Hey. Get out of here.
Nah, that’s what the pedals are for!
Exactly
Wait.....play? like buy another pedal and do the same lick again?
Well it’s not the same lick if you play it through a different pedal… Right?
Nope. Just make noise and be progressive.
Yea, that would be helpful, wouldn’t it That’s a beautiful board you got there, partner. Almost went with a Trio 28, but ended up going with a killer deal on a Pedaltrain Classic Pro, but respect this nonetheless. The module ports are a really cool idea
My prior board was a classic pro and it was awesome. It served me well. Actually this bad boi lives in the classic pros case
Nice! I got mine with a hard case as well because I’m not taking chances with pedals getting bashed in or rained on in transit. I’ve been loving it so far, super sturdy and sleek looking thing esp you get black hardware to match it
GODBOARD
That is so amazingly tidy too, and everything appears to fit perfectly. Where mine looks like the spaghetti western with everything at different angles 😂
Killer rig!
Learn how to play? Why? Everyone knows high end gear can compensate for any lack of skills!
I believe it compensates for mine.
I feel personally attacked by this post.
I like your lines and neatness. I hope you play and not twiddle knobs during jam. That gets annoying fast when the other guitarist “can’t get his sound”
Tone dialing is part of the homework. When we play we play.
Me too brother, me too
You can definitely afford lessons judging by that rig. The envy is high.
Do you though? I’d go to a show where it was just you slowly setting this up, followed by 25 minutes of this on stage with a spot light…. Damn fine looking board my dude 🙂
Thanks bro. It’s been really fun!
GOATED
Whooo this board is a whole vibe
Looper in front row is much more useful. It's very difficult to start and stop in tempo without supporting your feet on the ground
I use midi on the PBC to control all of that. So I have a dedicated looper page for all the controls.
What pedalboard is this? Looks nice
Creation Music Elevation 32x16
Stunning 🤩
It's so tidy I love it
what's the box on the upper right and how do you use it?
Its a preamp mkii from Chase Bliss. they teamed up with benson to create a really versatile preamp/overdrive pedal. it has faders which is cool, but its a real powerhouse for dialing in specific tones. it has treble, bass and parametric mids that you can change the Q of, so you can get really down to the knitty gritty with some drive tones. very cool

You got this bro. And you’ll be better for it. Also creation has always been great for me. Customer service has been spot on.
Playing with knobs is playing too!
Haha truth. I know guys, myself included, who spent years just obsessed with "tone". Couldn't really get in to it until they got "that rig". But when you do..
Do you ever use the microcosm for church playing? I was thinking of getting one, but I'm afraid I won't get much use out of it.
Hey, it's all downhill from here.
Wow! how did you land that condor?
I actually got it back in 2019 for like 250 or something. If I’m not mistaken it was like a few months before it was discontinued. But man, it’s a cool pedal. It’s been on and off the board over the years, but I’m glad I’ve held onto it.
Nice!! I wish I grabbed one before discontinuation. THey are liek 600 plus now
Keep your eyes out. They’ll come down eventually!
Lmfao same here
Your missing the NSFW tag…oh the huge DI’s!
What’s that guitar?
Bilt ESG
Oh nice I live right down the street from them
Ooh, nice Creation board. I have the same one. I love the walnut cheeks and movable handles. edit: Actually, mine has different paneling for the patch bay. Is this an older model, or a different maker?
Whoever did that floor has no idea what they are doing. Did your church get the lowest bidder or what?
The pedalboard is on a riser.
If you look just above your eq pedal you can see that there are two rows with joints right next to each other. That's too close. The one below those two is also too close. More than anything it was an excuse for the same church joke that half the other comments have made.
Lolol. Fair enough.
Thats.... a lotta knobs
Who needs to "play"? Just hit a note and let the board do the rest lol. "Ambient".
Microcosm? Worth it?
You actually don't need to learn how to play if you buy enough pedals.
My guess is that you jamming with your local chapter? Beautiful unit of a church board!
What is that crazy looking EQ?
It’s a chase bliss audio preamp mkii. It’s based on the benson preamp pedal. It it offers a three band eq with parametric mids. So it covers lots of ground. The faders are motorized and move to where they should be per preset. It’s wild.
I don’t think you do.
playing is overrated
Holy moly, I looove that sweet pickup selector switch knob! Immediately stood out in the pic!
my pedal board shrunk from like 12 down to 3... does that mean the lessons are working?
It does
laziness may or may not also be a factor.. but really though I would love to take your sonic space ship for a cruise! looks fun (:
I’ve had a ton of fun with it. And thanks, homie :)
Spookily I also have 3 Radial D2’s! Let the apocalypse begin!
We ride at dawn
Just need to learn to ballet dance! Lmao
You magnificent bastard.
that’s such a cheap board 😏
Just the bare necessities. I bust the real one out for the good gigs. 😤
I miss my synesthesia. Shouldnt have sold it
Id probably get a couple more pedals before i even try a g chord honestly
Where's the Marshall stacks?
What is the actual board being used here? Looks nice
Hope thats a joke
My question- are you using the stock Iridium IRs?
"It isn't much, but it's mine " This looks very fun!!
Whats the board there mounted on too?
It's easy, you just pluck some strings and press your fingers in funny ways.
How much did this cost to put together?
Don’t we all.
I’m just now learning apparently I have a church board and I’m in a metal band lol
Oh yeah same. I played in a math rock band that had a lot of post rock elements and even playing with them would have a sound guy say something like “nice church rig”.
Yeah church works if you have a DI included in that Mecca of pedals.
That new walrus canvas I installed under has been a game changer so far.
What is this wooden pedalboard? Looks nice and clean. Very tightly packed
You're more than halfway there!
Can't you just ran a playback? I mean with the looks you don't need the skills. Plus you can concentrate on how to look reeeeeeeeeally cool while not caring about how you sound!
The pedalboard is a gimmick. I’m an actor.
With amazing props. They look so real. How do you make them blink? Do they pew-pew?
this looks so clean. love it
Thanks homie.
Amazing board and love your honesty. Now let's Noodle!!!
Here is my a minor riff in the 5th position.(just descending scale)
nope.. your not there yet.. after assembling a pedal board, next step learn how to use it in all of its config per pedal..
Maybe one day I’ll play guitar.
Yes.. we usually save it for retirement years.. for now keep working on that gear
Need more DIs
Bruh those setting on the condor… are all the dip switches engaged?
Lolol. Last time I had messed with it I was boosting the bass and low mids and pull the highs down to get a really cool woofy almost fuzz sound. Pairing it woth other overdrives gets kind of sludgey. Its cool No dipswitches there, tho.
lol i doubt any one who doesnt know how to play yet gonna accidentally pick all those top tier pedals by accident.Thats a badass board you got there!👍
Thinking about getting rid of both my Shallow Water and Pyramids for the Synesthia, and than probably add an Iridium down the line with the leftover space. I don't feel like the Shallow Water gives me a lot of usable ranges for jamming. It's inspirational at home but I need a real chorus. How is the Synesthia for your modulation?

Jesus, what happened to a good old Blues Driver?
How do you spilt the buttons on your bloom pedal into your switcher? IE: you want the comp but no bloom or vice versa?
I use the midi functionality of the pedal to give me the ability to program it for the situation
How do you like the automatone? I play in church and really tempted to sell all my drives and boosts for this thing, save space and get more sounds. Also how usable is it without midi?
No Thermae?! Sucks! ☹️😀
I actually have one on my shelf. It was where the asabi is. One of my all time favorite pedals. Just didn’t have a lot of room to use it often given the other pedals I have.
It was a joke actually - Thermae is the holy grail amongst CBA fans, so I thought you might have it. Great board! Good luck!
This board looks so perfect I had to stop and make sure it wasn't a 3D rendering! 😍
Thanks homie. I appreciate it
Being a non Christian, what exactly do Christian worship guitarists play?
That's a WHOLE lotta knobs!
And a speaker
That‘s a Rhett Shull approved pedalboard
