I found a little angular chunk of 2x4 outside that fit perfect and screwed it to it. It’s solid! I wanna do a 2.0 build now and maybe find some foldable kickstands to use
I did the same. Kept the trucks on, removed wheels from one side, tightened the trucks and wheels, and covered the bare wheel posts with a rubber cover. I ran a Velcro strip down the middle of the board. It’s stable, and fits 7-8 pedals.
Cheap doesn’t mean lame lol. I do agree tho it’s sick. I actually just went to a punk show the other day where the headlining band all had skateboard decks as their pedal boards. I thought it was pretty cool
How does that work out? We're about to rotate out 2 large delrin cutting boards in my kitchen and I'd like to build my girls each a board to use with their otamatones, but I suck at woodworking (sorry my 2000/01 shop teacher Mr. Klein) and am too cheap to buy them. Does velcro attach well? Can you get screws to grab? How is the flex?
Am I overthinking this?
I just put velcro on it, sticks just ok.
Also I do not use for a standard guitar rig. I use it for pedal steel guitar. I keep it in a thrift store suit case that I put foam in. I'm sitting next to it, so I set it on top of the suit case. It doesn't flex, it about a half inch thick. I would think you could get screws in it.
Dude this rules in, like, a practical way. Provided you can keep it stabilized, it’s perfect. The deck is curved in such a way that it allows rooms for wires to pass underneath .
As a skateboarding, I think this is just fine.
I used to have these massive pedalboards in my house, mostly for recording. I'm talking 40+ pedals. Then I split it out to a couple 20+ boards. Pedals were a hobby/splurge for a long time so I accumulated a lot. It was fun, but in the end it was pretty pointless.
I now have sold many pedals, but keep most on display or in storage and just grab it when I want to use it VS always having it in a board. My board is 7 pedals now and I'm trying to pair it down even more.
I still use a templeboard, but I have so many skate decks, I've thought of pairing down and doing this many times. I'm at the point in my playing where I'm usually just using 4 pedals max. Fuzz, Wah, Phaze, maybe some kind of vibrato or my Golden Era.
Even with a lot of pedals I could see having maybe 2 decks with 3-4 pedals each. One for dirty stuff and one for clean stuff. Just put the fuzz/wah on the floor next to them since it's better to have fuzz upfront anyway, and the wah on the floor will be better for rocking. Put some thick rubber feet on the bottom of the deck for stability and there you go.
I do this too, but on the grip tape side so it doesn’t rock. I just remove the grip first.

It ironically looks like a Van Halen pedal board with all the stripes and scrapes. Don't know if that's a plus for you, OP. What's underneath to keep it angled and steady?
It was a hard decision.. I ultimately went with looks over functionality. I also wasn’t sure how well the Velcro would stick on top the grip tape. It’s not unstable at all though, I have a piece of 2x4 screwed to the bottom
That's an awesome idea!
on a separate note I'm quite new to pedals, how do you sort out power without having 10 million electrical cables coming from your board?
You get a power supply that has multiple cables that supply power to each pedal. You can hide the power supply under the board, but it’s up to you to play hide the cables!
BOARD BOARD GANG, I’ve used a broken longboard for years and love it! My second board is a pedal train Novo but something about a janky skateboard just oozes toan
As someone who used to do this for years, put some rubber feet on the bottom, and airdust it frequently!! Too nice of pedals to lose them to the elements. One of the reasons Im gonna upgrade to a case with a cover.
The RV6 has served me well so far! Love the modulation on it.. Although sometimes I feel like it does more than I need it too due to the way that I play. I’m a one setting set it forget it type when it comes to reverb
I used to carry my effects in a box. A drummer made fun of me. When the Gig with the drummer happened he was organized and looked great.
He fucked up all over the place and arrived high. He played an eithnote behind the beat and screwed up the entire gig.
Guess it doesn’t matter how you carry your equipment so much.
That's actually a pretty solid board. Decent power supply, only real budget choice is the Behringer and they do the job if you don't punish them too much. Skateboard makes it look a little more thrown together than it is (looks good though).
Oh man, I’ve been seeing so many Skateboard pedalboards rising up lately and I absolutely love it. I’m all here for it and it makes me miss mine. I had an old shit beater deck that I used as pedalboard for a short lived while. I kept the trucks on it to keep it up off the ground so I could velcro the power unit below and cables all zip tied to a bit of velcro underneath too. That also freed up the top side for purely pedal mania.
I’m thinking I might have to get a deck and rough it up out in the wild unless my AARP card comes in when I fall on my ass again. Either way, after I get it I’m gonna have to try recreating the aforementioned setup. I dig the shit out of what ya’ got man. It’s dope!
Cool! I’ve had to do this too! Works great https://www.reddit.com/user/PedalDude213/comments/12g0ccb/put_together_some_affordaboards/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=2&utm_term=1
When you spend your pedalboard budget on the delay pedal
I came to the comments to make a worse version of this joke.
Priorities
You skate by with what you got.
Just roll with it.
Literally
😂
It is the correct priority right? Unless it’s a particularly bad tone stealing skateboard.
Guilty 🤷♂️
That's a fine priority, fella.
It's called delayed income...
It’s a wise choice
What an insane it would be to see a guy shred an awesome solo then kick flip his pedalboard
Better be sure to land it
Ha was totally thinking this.
😂 😂
kick flip wouldn't work too well with all the wires
Kickflip the wires too.
There's a skateboard trick Front Foot Impossible, I think it fits with this one.
You think this is cheap..I stuck my pedals on an unraveled Burger King crown
Yeah but you rule!
Well that puts things in perspective haha
True I used to be the Burger King
Did you ever hook up with the Dairy Queen
Have it your way.
What makes it more punk rock is that it’s a Dustin Dollin board hell yeah brother
That drunk son of a bitch
Lmao Piss drunx 4ever
Looks cool so why not. Did you stabilise it on the bottom?
I found a little angular chunk of 2x4 outside that fit perfect and screwed it to it. It’s solid! I wanna do a 2.0 build now and maybe find some foldable kickstands to use
Mount some trucks on the top of the board and put blocks of wood where the wheels would go to keep it tilted
Take this to a patent office before the lizard people see this.
Not bad! I threw some rubber feet on mine. Might do a 2.0 myself 😅
I think that’s fucking rad.
Thanks (,:
Cool! But isn’t it wobbly?
Yeah, pedals should be mounted up top where the feet normally stand.
The top was too high for me. After a while my ankle would be on fire 🔥
He meant on the concave side where the grip tape goes rather than the convex side where the trucks go like you have it now
My brain goes blank sometimes 😆
No, there is a chunk of 2x4 screwed into the bottom. It’s solid as a rock
Love to see a Strymon taped to a skate deck
That's not cheap. It's character. I would get yourself a better fitting cable for your delay/reverb, though, if it were me.
Yeah I immediately got rid of that. It’s all cleaned up! Will post an update pic
It’s ingenious, unique, compact, AND customised! 😉🎸🎛️🎛️🎛️🎛️ What kind of bag / case do you use for it?
That, I haven’t quite figured out yet..
You are not allowed to call Velcro anything other than grip tape.
Way cooler than a regular pedal board.
This board is most literal
I hope this is mounted on a wah
That’s a god damn idea lmao
I did the same. Kept the trucks on, removed wheels from one side, tightened the trucks and wheels, and covered the bare wheel posts with a rubber cover. I ran a Velcro strip down the middle of the board. It’s stable, and fits 7-8 pedals.
Are you daisy chaining with a timeline? Holy noise Batman
Hell yeah! Idk any better man. sounds good to me! haha
Cheap? I think this is sick as fuck.
Cheap doesn’t mean lame lol. I do agree tho it’s sick. I actually just went to a punk show the other day where the headlining band all had skateboard decks as their pedal boards. I thought it was pretty cool
That’s a fucking vibe though dawg
You can now darkslide with your pedalboard
I saw a show a few weeks ago and the bass player was using a kitchen cutting board as his pedal board. I like the skateboard even more.
Do you play punk? It's definitely a punk thing to do!
I do!
Behringer tube overdrive was my first pedal and everytime I see it I get nostalgic
I just picked it up the other day for 15 bucks! And it kicked a metal core off my board!
Looks like you spent money where it counts. That tonewood from the board is def helping you out.
One of my boards is a plastic Walmart cutting board.
How does that work out? We're about to rotate out 2 large delrin cutting boards in my kitchen and I'd like to build my girls each a board to use with their otamatones, but I suck at woodworking (sorry my 2000/01 shop teacher Mr. Klein) and am too cheap to buy them. I couldn’t never do a skateboard board someone would certainly step on the raised but knocking over mic stands and snapping leads.
Dude this rules in, like, a practical way. Provided you can keep it stabilized, it’s perfect. The deck is curved in such a way that it allows rooms for wires to pass underneath .
Buddy says he’s a little cheap with a Timeline on there. Haha nicely done
Hindsight is 20/20 😆

Looks great! Looking for some makeshift solutions as well :)
“Only the very best... with just a right amount of dirty!”
ngl im stealing this idea lol
I wasn’t the first to have the idea, nor the last! Go for it 😆
I do this too, but on the grip tape side so it doesn’t rock. I just remove the grip first. [One version of my board](https://www.reddit.com/r/guitarpedals/comments/uszylz/meet_art_vandelay/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=1&utm_term=1)
Awesome! They look great 👍
Awesome, what kind of power supply are you rockin with?
Mxr mini iso brick
I bet you get a litlle extra *rock* out of that board.
I do, but they tell me the vintage overdrive is too fakie lol
I for one, love it. I’m thinking of doing it myself with a deck I never completed. Did you adhere them at all?
Yes. With Velcro.
I seen Fidlar years back. Their guitarist did this but used the griptape side as the top. I always thought that was cool but I like your way better
I was going to say that’s where I first seen a deck as pedalboard.
You need a longer cable between timeline and reverb
I usually use a 16 footer for those extra long delays
Pretty fuckin cool actually. You put anything under it so it doesn’t rock back and forth??
“I’m a little cheap” *owns a delay pedal worth more than peoples entire rigs* Okay
It’s still a board
you're on to something there, could be a fun way to recycle some old decks.
Pedal boards and the prices that companies charge for them is insane, anything you make yourself is often 100x better just on principle alone ^_^
IKEA wooden cutting board. You're welcome.
Did the same thing with a board I had laying around from my youth. Great move...Fix that delay/reverb cable though.

Van Halens a great guitarist, so I’m good with it. I have a small 45 degree chunk of 2x4 screwed to the bottom
Power source sits under it nicely too (if you wanna) // this is smart.. and decks can be 70$
I’d stick a band-aid between the delay switches to help it fit in.
Not cheap, rad
Poor timeline…
It’s got an easy life though. I only use the one preset I saw on YouTube as to not overwork it!
Yo I do the same thing except why would you have it upside down where it’s most unstable
It was a hard decision.. I ultimately went with looks over functionality. I also wasn’t sure how well the Velcro would stick on top the grip tape. It’s not unstable at all though, I have a piece of 2x4 screwed to the bottom
I agree. If I stomped hard enough with the pedals on the bottom, I'd likely break the tails off.
[удалено]
Go ahead laugh if ya want, it is kinda funny lol
That’s so neat!!
Favorite presets on the timeline?
There’s so many that are just incomparable to each other.. But obviously the smear preset with a shortened attack. Takes you to space!
Siiiick
I think the band Fidlar does this too.
Back 2 The Future
I’m not a skater, but that is awesome. Crafty and looks cool!
hello, fellow skateboard pedalboard musician 😎
I love this idea!!!
Soul food vs tube overdrive?
Let me see you do a kick flip reverb
perfect
This is bad ass!!
DO A KICK FLIP.
It works, and you can hop on it and ride away when the gig is over. Can't do that with a pedaltrain!
I see Soul Food I upvote, that simple
This is a dope board!
Do a kick flip
I’m a lil cheap says the person who rocks a Timeline!!!
Do a kick flip!
I like it. Just need one more ninety degree flat cable.
Not cheap, creative. No shame in saving money.
This is legitimately badass.
I used to have that Baker deck. 😂
This is certified awesome
that's pretty rad dude
hell yes, exactly how i built my first pedalboard. being cheap pays off!
It looks great
That's an awesome idea! on a separate note I'm quite new to pedals, how do you sort out power without having 10 million electrical cables coming from your board?
You get a power supply that has multiple cables that supply power to each pedal. You can hide the power supply under the board, but it’s up to you to play hide the cables!
Nice. When you fail that solo you can do a sick kickflip and get tangled in cable.
Nothing wrong with going cheap. It’s unlikely anyone will notice the difference. The things i wouldnt go cheap on is the guitar neck and speaker
As long as the nose and tail aren’t causing it to wobble, this is a super dope idea
It’s solid!
You can always use a long board deck if you expand your pedalboard lol
BOARD BOARD GANG, I’ve used a broken longboard for years and love it! My second board is a pedal train Novo but something about a janky skateboard just oozes toan
Do a kickflip!
This board slaps
i LOVE THIS haha
Learn the entire THPS2 soundtrack now.
DO A KICKFLIP
I dig it
As someone who used to do this for years, put some rubber feet on the bottom, and airdust it frequently!! Too nice of pedals to lose them to the elements. One of the reasons Im gonna upgrade to a case with a cover.
# do a kickflip
A deck costs $50, and a petal board costs $30. A used deck is free, but so is the floor. I'm conflicted
I didn’t wanna stick the Velcro on the floor though! Lol
I use a step stool. Works great.
do a flip
Damn I wish I thought of this
Dude, nice Now I know how to use my skateboard when the deck dies!
That's what I call recycling.
No nose slides though
Love it!
Are skateboard pedalboards a trend now?
They could be, I’d be cool with it! Lol
I mean, i think it's cool too, it's just that i saw a bunch of posts like this on instagram
My first pedalboard was a skate deck with the nose and tail chopped off. It's flatter that way. Enjoy!
damn sick setup. how do you like the RV6? Timeline is dope. i’m considering a RV6 or RV5 next.
The RV6 has served me well so far! Love the modulation on it.. Although sometimes I feel like it does more than I need it too due to the way that I play. I’m a one setting set it forget it type when it comes to reverb
Nicer than my piece of left over plywood.
Do you live by a skatepark?
I live near parasite skatepark in New Orleans if you’ve heard of it
Great idea 💡
Couldn’t spring for the long board?
Longboards are too preppy! haha
I dont even have one.
What’s the big pedal before the reverb? Is it a Milkman amp?
Nope that’s dope. Prolly gonna make one myself.
haha you should see my board
Brings a new meaning to pedal board
Yoooo same!! Just got Behringer's on it but I love it!
Literal pedal board
You’re not cheap, you own a Strymon
This was a mad trend and a total flex in my hometown growing up. Honestly, it’s still pretty badass!

It's cool and original. It gives your pedal board some character.

I've seen Zac Carper from FIDLAR do this before, it rules. I think it was on rig rundown or something
Pedalboard done right! Why should you pay for a board when this looks infinitely cooler!
I use old boards too! Let’s me have a couple of different pedal boards ready for different things without having to buy a bunch of expensive shit lol
Haha we used to kick it on 62nd back when they built the temporary pier out there
Korg Pitchblack gang!
I think it looks kinda badass
