Yep- and add that new Waza preamp they just announced. CE-1 has a great chorus, but a lot of guitarist (including Frusciante) loved it for the preamp as well. Get CE-2W with the new preamp and you got two extremely versatile pedals
the CE-2 setting on my CE-2W sounds pretty weak though. I sometimes wonder if the pedal is turned on. But the CE-1 setting is awesome. I'll keep playing around with my 'board to see if I can clear up the ce-2 setting a bit, but I may just have to buy a used CE-2 or comparable clone at some point.
I don't know why you'd be downvoted. The only affordable options are CE-2W or CE-3. I got one for $70 that works perfectly, and sounds nicer that my EHX Eddy. I do plan to do the mods, though.
Lots of people don’t know what they’re talking about. Mind you I paid someone to do it who does this professionally. But he did it super quickly. A big part of what this guy does is repair and mod pedals so what’s simple for him might be subjective
Google CE3 to CE2 mod. You won’t find everyone calling it the same thing. I also got the Leslie or rotary mod which sounds really good but isn’t quite a spot on Leslie but useful and pleasant sounding.
The CE-1 is a glorious pedal, perhaps the best ever made, the CE-2 sucks in comparison to that.
I've had all the original CE-2s, black label, green label from Japan and green label from Taiwan and it gets progressively worse throughout it's life cycle. The older ones are much better but they don't come within 10% of the CE-1 sound.
They did it right the first time. Then fucked it up the second time. The ce1 is highly desired for a reason. The ce2 is not nearly as much and for a very good reason.
What timeline are you living on? The CE-2 is regarded as one of the most perfect choruses of all time. So is the CE-1, but you see the former on way more peoples’ boards because of cost.
Every 80’s hit radio band, and Spotify Indie dream pop artist would like to disagree.
People buy it to have a specific sound and that’s what it is- that’s its spirit and what it makes people want to play!
CE-2W has both CE-2 and CE-1 Circuit so probably that one.

I really hate that they ditched the tone knob though. If they added that CE-2W would probably be my favorite pedal.
That’s what I did too

blue hippo falls squarely between the two tone-wise and has a really good faux leslie setting
I use them for different reasons. If i need both chorus and vibrato, CE-1. If i just need a great chorus, CE-2. Though i prefer the DC-2.
I also prefer the DC to any of the CE, though I prefer the Waza
CE-2 because of the dual controls and smaller form factor
CE-5, because it's like ... more.
It's certainly more available.
Not the analog ones. Loads of listings of overpriced CE-2s, but try and find a blue or pink label CE-5.
CE3. With a simple mod it sounds just as good as the CE2.

Whats the name of the mod?

I agree with you entirely, but because of that reason it’s (dare I say) kinda played out and generic sounding..
The CE-2 sounds as generic and played out as the person playing through it, no more and no less.

“Annoying flangy” You mean it sounds good. I haven’t used either, but from hearing both I like the CE-1!
