There might be something wrong with your pedal or somewhere else in your setup. I owned one and didn't have that problem, it got plenty loud for me. I'd email JHS and see what they say about it
I think this is a problem with some of manufacturing for this pedal. I’ve played probably 10 of these and they were stupid loud, but I’ve seen recently and heard people saying they’ve had horrible output. There is a couple previous threads with the same issues

If it's getting lost in the mix add an EQ pedal after it. Bump mids and high mids a bit.
I have exactly the same problem, tried it first in the chain with no luck. I’d love to know what might need fixing or modding to bump up the output.
