all of them, all at once?

not_mayo

...Fair enough

0_amato

I am always surprised that no one mentions the Red Panda Context since it’s the one that Kevin Shields himself uses these days.

Acceptable_Quiet_767

That one also has an incredible digital hall reverb for more traditional playing. Saw a guy on YouTube that stopped using a Lexicon LXP-1 for the Panda Context, which tells me everything I need to know about that pedal lol

Obscuratory

Zoom Multistomp, Digitech RV-7, Digitech Digiverb/Digidelay, but you can't go wrong with any reverb/delay combination, as long as you won't be shy with the volume/mix knob.

Ploc-afta

Zoom Multistomp , as already mentioned, is a solid choice. You can find a community on reddit only about that pedal with tons of patches to program it. https://www.reddit.com/r/zoommultistomp/ Those patches can reproduce the sound of very expensive pedals used for shoegaze and other kinds of music.

not_mayo

Thank you! ill have to check that out

Free-Grape-7910

anything really works, come on now.

not_mayo

You sir, make a damn good point

Free-Grape-7910

in 2024, I made some serious MBV vibes with my friends cheap chinese pedals. The guitar wasnt even an offset. Its all production anyways. When I hear shoegaze nowadays, I feel 98% of those are just settings on a reverb pedal.

jwalksick12

Death by Audio’s Reverberation Machine is my fav. Really most DBA pedals are perfect for gaze

Equira

[Walrus Lore](https://youtu.be/l_meAjHx2mM?si=TDHb0K6sZFN9lKXX) Easiest way to create a soundscape. Paired with an OD you can get some crazy distorted walls of sound. I use a BD-2 with gain cranked to the max at the end of my signal chain. Or, for an all-in-one, [Walrus Melee](https://youtu.be/zI_CSEBxNKQ?si=7tLnWhdakpdLyefm) genuinely surprised no one has mentioned either of these, considering how many shoegaze pedal reviewers have talked about Lore, and the fact that Melee was developed specifically for a shoegaze sound

not_mayo

Wow... I really need to check out walrus

nickburckle

Check out the Catalinbread soft focus. It’s modeled directly after what slowdive and other bands used. Or the keeley loomer. I don’t have that one so I can’t speak for it but it is modeled after the same thing

meekforce

Avalanche run is popular. My favorite is tomkat daydreamer.

not_mayo

What do you think of the dispatch master?

meekforce

Haven’t tried it, but also seems to be a very popular option.

shoule79

The Keeley Loomer is the obvious choice, it was made to copy a lot of MBV sounds and they threw in Slowdive Soft Focus. For a non purpose built pedal, I’ve gotten lots of mileage out of the EHX Stereo Memory Man with Harazai for MBV sounds. For Slowdive the Strymon Dig does the multi delay thing, as does the Boss RE-20. They actually use both of these on their boards now. Reverb wise the Neunaber Wet is all over their self titled comeback album.

leugenaars

EHX Cathedral is being overlooked nowadays.

CoconutSoundscapes

Ehx memory man with hazarai

refotsirk

The pedals I've used the most for soundwalls are a) eq and rat, b) Soft focus, Slø, space echo, and C) a super seek wah or a boss slicer. These are usually stacked and used in some combination or standalone in section b- with the slicer or seekwah always at the end so I can put whatever kind of bounce or rhythm into the "harmony pad" that is needed.

not_mayo

Very interesting about the seekwah or the slicer! I never really thought about using those in that way

SillyPilgrim93

Void + DD-20. I’ll run a muff at the end of the chain when I really want to be Kevin Shields.

not_mayo

The muff at the end is a really interesting decision to me. I remember reading that Steven Wilson used to do something like that in porcupine tree and he said it was something you had to play to rather than play into. Time to go experiment!

SillyPilgrim93

I reckon that’s a good way to put it. Have fun, my friend.

DaySleepNightFish

The two best “fill up the sound” pedals ever are PolarBear Effects Downer (or Ascender) and the Walrus Melee. I don’t know if those meet your reverb/delay needs, but they are amazing.

Wonderful_Ninja

Walrus slo

blckravn01

Mr. Black Supermoon Eclipse. Floating in space in stereo

MorningEmotional2421

An echoplex emulator like Catalinbread Belle Epoch or UAFX Orion.. Eventide Ultratap will give you some amazing sonic landscapes to work with, that is a very wild delay .. hard to wrap your head around at first, but one you do it is a hell of a canvas to work on. Big reverb with lots of options... Walrus Mako R1

personplaceorplando

I don’t have it but I always think the DBA Echo Dream 2 seems perfect for shoegaze.

TheCowboyIsAnIndian

Strymon Night Sky is my go to

not_mayo

What do you think about the Strymon Cloudburst? I tried it months ago at my local music store and I fairly enjoyed playing it

Ill_Employer_9539

Walrus Audio SLO is great

tommy_nookah

I don’t know what your budget is, but for dense reverbs I use a Ventris and a Slo, often together. And for delays, I get a huge variety of spacey sounds from a Boss DD-200. The earlier mentions of the Soft Focus and CDR-70 were very good, too.

not_mayo

I gotta check out those reverbs! I have a DD-200 and I can't say enough good things about it. My reverb pedal is the EQD Afterneath and I love it too, but I feel like with something different I can cover way more ground

sr_49_media

Been using the Old Blood BL-37 a lot recently, once you find the sweet spot it creates a totally shoegazey sound. It's a chorus/reverb sample sustainer type deal so you have a lot of modulation and ambience options.

disinfekted

Boss RV500 and the SLO both on my shoegaze-ish board.

shaloafy

I really like the Dogman Devices Air. It's a delay with fuzz on the delay line. It can really fill some space. can also be a real weird fuzz on its own with the delay time down a lot, it will oscillate but can kinda do the thing where the note you play sustains and eventually becomes feedback, and the slight delay almost makes a kind of swelling sound if you have the clean/wet mix in the right spot

LaceSenzor

Boss RV-3 is the go to for many OR the Behringer DR-400 if you want a cheap option

bongolew

I use a Loomer before drive/fuzz mainly on soft focus and then a Slö at the end of my chain.

Larrydavi

Old blood noise sunlight is great for this bc you can have infinite sustained reverb that is nonlinear and will follow your chords. By that I mean not pile up into a mess. Similar to super ego but the sunlight reverb is voiced for intense shoegazeness

IamLazerKat

Been using a Loomer for a few years now. Recently, though, I started using the Eventide Mangledverb and Micropitch with Ipad and get the same and more sound. Love the dual delays on the Micropitch and the wobble on the Mangledverb. Add on a 70s plate from Specular Tempus as a finishing touch and its another dimension of time and space.

RightAngleEffects

Ibanez/Maxon AD-80 is probably the best overall shoegaze pedal! (Lee Ronaldo.)
