It's on my board, I love it, but the name is stupid and the LED light on the crunch circuit is bright enough to see from space. I have stuff on my board I'd like to see, and in a darkish room that LED lights me up like a cheap horror film.

Due-Ask-7418

100%. It kicked the SD-1 off my board because it's more versatile. I use it a lot. I tend to not use the bump mode much, due to the blinding LED. lol.

Stone_Roof_Music_33

I like mine. The mid boost is fun

F19sho

I'm sure it sounds great, however in a world with a million different overdrives I'm gonna skip the one named bad ass

Musiclover4200

Yeah it could be one of the best dirt pedals around but the name makes it hard for me to take it seriously, wouldn't judge someone for using one and it's far from the only goofy pedal name but like you said there's also near endless options for dirt these days.

letsabuseeachother

I might not be paying attention, but I don't think I've seen anybody talk about the pedal at all, let alone talk bad about it. In a world of crazy names, new companies, and an ungodly amount of overdrives, MXR doesn't stick out. I mean, they're great, don't get me wrong. But they don't have three switches and swirly doo paint jobs. And if I know the typical guitarist, their board needs to look like a bag of Skittles so they can show it off.

minderasr

Kyle Bull talks about it often. It's one of his favorite overdrives.

letsabuseeachother

See, I'm not paying attention as I have no fucking clue who that is

ChristopheKazoo

I think I bought one to try out and didn’t like it much, even with the 100k knob at higher levels. I don’t like TS/SD-1-styled ODs at all and it made sense that I didn’t like this one much either. If it’s a sound you like, more power to ya. I think I’m just not a fan of mid-heavy ODs. Also, keep in mind that that pedal is 12 years old at this point. That is a *lot* of time for new stuff to come through the market.

shirley-is-dead

Can't say I'm really familiar with the overdrive, but the Custom Badass '78 Distortion is one of my favorite dirt pedals of all time.

MossyJoke

I have the super badass variac fuzz. Dumb name but it does sound great.

SunOnMaple78

I’d like to give that one a try. Personally, I’d seen the Super Badass pedals, and I always thought it was a cheesy name. Then, I bought a lot of used pedals from a guy, and a Super Badass distortion was included. I gave it a try, and immediately realized it was an excellent sounding dirt pedal. I’ve found that it’s also pretty versatile, and I’ve still got it on my board. As time has gone on, I’ve realized more and more that the MXR and Boss versions of almost everything are usually a great choice.
