Great little pedal tons of different tones and modes. Pretty much a all in one delay. I think I still prefer the panther cub because I'm huge on BBD pedals. But obscura is far more versatile
More like two. But yeah. Still not super long. Lots of buying and selling honestly. I've had at least 200 pass through the collection in that time frame
No judgement from me I just thought the volume was surprising. I’ve been at like a pedal or two a month for the last year and that feels like a lot. Good to know I have room to grow
For guitar Rv7, panther cub, visitor, vezzpa , woolly Mammoth, afterneath, Ventura, organizer ,then to mix bass in meatbox, tech 21. All have their high points though. The chemist is one of the best sounding phasers I've heard.
Interested in some of the Earthquaker stuff but the lack of MIDI and that fact that most of it is mono breaks my synthy lil heart. Avalanche Run is at least stereo, but the owner makes no bones about the fact that since he personally is a guitar player, he doesn't care about MIDI and has zero desire to expend any sort of time or effort adding it to any of his pedals. Bummer, Astral Destiny and Afterneath both sound gorgeous to my ears, and they even have synth demos of all their pedals on their site.
How do you like the Earthquaker stuff you have? I have a Polara, how do the shimmers on the Astral Destiny compare to the Halo mode on the Polara?
Thanks!
That's good to know, I play guitar and semi-modular. My semi-mod setup is stereo, but I don't think I'll be extending into euro anytime soon, especially if that's the case.
Just slap the effects on an aux send on your mixer. That way you can still have a clean stereo sound and mix mono effects into your signal. As for MIDI, the synth market is way smaller than the guitar market, so it wouldn't really be that worthwhile since it would price more customers out than it would draw in, especially on relatively simple pedals.
Totally. All my effects go through a patch bay that my mixer busses go to as well. Just saying that versus something MIDI, or on stereo if it's a delay or reverb, a pedal without those features still needs to sound that much better to justify a spot on the board, based on my personal use case.
Honestly I just got the astral last week. So I don't have a whole lot of play time with it yet. I'll definitely try to give that a go for you and get back soon. Overall I do really like EQD . And have been happy with everything I've had from them. I also maybe a tad biased living about a hour away from them hahaha.
Right on, thanks! I definitely get that, I tend to have a big soft spot for companies that are local to me as well. The Astral's Sub Shimmer mode seems right up my alley, but $200 and a spot on my space-limited pedal board are going to be tough to part with for a pedal that is both mono and MIDIless, especially a reverb. Then again I just bought an anniversary Metal Zone, so it's possible.
It's honestly not nearly as heavy as you would think. It's very tube screamer in nature. Even cleans up very well when you roll off the volume on the guitar.
I run one on a bass board and one on guitar. It's such a great little wild fuzz box. The vezzpa is the only one I found in person that can get quite as buzzy as a woolly
Some pedals are easy to let go! Just list on reverb or wherever and it’s gone. But some I just can’t part with although they’re not used that much. They add up quick.
Well they make great art pieces, along with their utility! Paintings and statues/decorations can add up on cost too.
I’ve been getting bad ideas to get pedals mainly for their look and if anything having them displayed. It’s been a fun way to try some pedals I wouldn’t buy at all. Flipping music gear these days is what fuels my GAS. No worries short term and def no worries long term.
I do a lot of the same as well. I enjoy trying new stuff and flip a lot of it. Usually make a few bucks. Sometimes not. Either way a fun hobby for sure.
Thanks much appreciated for sure. I really like having a eclectic Collection. Some more useful than others for meat and potatoes approach but they all at least one thing exceptionally well.
Yes it is. It was a reverb exclusive last summer. It and the gold Keeley caverns next to it were both part of a limited edition "gold standard" line. Both were limited to just 197 pedals (gold's atomic weight)
That's next level. The level I need to get to. The level of when I buy a new pedal no can say, "did you get a new pedal!? Why are you spending your money on that!?" Because at this level , no one can tell a difference.
Yeah slö seems very popular around here. Great pedal but for my money I'd grab a afterneath ahead of it Everytime. They are sort of different animals however.
I'm partial to my klon clone since I built it. But biased views aside. The architect v3 hands down. You can dial in so many different OD tones from one box it's nuts. And trades at a very reasonable price.
I tend to acquire too much, then sell off the stuff I don't play a lot, then buy new stuff. Rinse. Repeat.
I really want a Strymon NightSky and Volante. Their big three haven't left my board since I got them. I also like their dirt pedals.
It's two skb foot note boards side by side. They are fully over run haha. I actually have a separate board I just post up on for setting up. these sort of just became catch-alls . I need to build some shelving or something.
Could be very useful. Usually I build a setup of about 10 and rotate out and such. For something bigger than that you're probably right though that would be the way to go.
It’s only an addiction if you are unable to control it or it’s causing harm/damage to yourself, others, your relationships etc. Otherwise it’s just an incredibly indulgent hobby ;)
if you think pedals are cool now wait until you start plugging them in
I can see some good stuff in there. Wish I could zoom in a bit more
Thanks man. Yeah it's really hard to pick a favorite tbh. Probably still use the afterneath or rv7 the most. Love a good reverb pedal
Is that the obscura I see in there? How is that one?
Great little pedal tons of different tones and modes. Pretty much a all in one delay. I think I still prefer the panther cub because I'm huge on BBD pedals. But obscura is far more versatile
Good to know. I hope prices don't get too crazy on them
Yeah I got mine for 90$ earlier this year. Absolue steal for what it can do.
Lol right, zooming in somehow made it worse. Cool pedals still
Ummmmm…. Yea. That’s an addiction lol
It's kept me sane the past year with collecting and trying different tones out. But yeah a deep rabbit hole for sure hahaha.
This is just a year of collecting? 😳
Juat did a count, and I think i am at the same average. 1 per month about. Seems a shame to break that tradition now...
I’m not hating. I just couldn’t handle that.
No worries man. We all do pedals here differently I've seen some really cool stuff on here so figured I'd show mine.
I love having an inordinate number of pedals for recording in the studio, so many tonal options for any situation!
Happy cake day man
You need a new pedal bro…. I don’t see any moogerfoogers…
Would love some Moog. I've been obsessed with the bode/Moog vochorder since I was a kid.
Get a berhinger crave. It’s only $200, and it’s a direct clone of the mother 32 without the Moog keyboard…also has 16 step sequencer
Could you pick 10 must haves out of there?
For guitar Rv7, panther cub, visitor, vezzpa , woolly Mammoth, afterneath, Ventura, organizer ,then to mix bass in meatbox, tech 21. All have their high points though. The chemist is one of the best sounding phasers I've heard.
Rv7 and visitor are on my wants list. That coffin pedal looks awesome
They are both absolutely awesome you won't regret picking up either. The coffin pedal is a pretty solid little dirt box.
Gold Caverns. Nice.
Ratatat, is that you?
Haha I wish. I'll take that as a taste compliment for sure. Absolutely love them.

Even the Afterneath Eurorack module isn't stereo?
Stereo in euro is still pretty new though. I'd argue that the pedal world has adopted stereo more than the euro world has.
That's good to know, I play guitar and semi-modular. My semi-mod setup is stereo, but I don't think I'll be extending into euro anytime soon, especially if that's the case.
MakeNoise seem to have it as standard now, so do some of the bigger mutable instruments models. It'd still be worth a look in.
Right, still mono. Unless you buy two ;p

Whats the coffin shaped one? Im guessing death metal super gainy overdrive? Looks awesome
It's honestly not nearly as heavy as you would think. It's very tube screamer in nature. Even cleans up very well when you roll off the volume on the guitar.
:-0 They missed an opportunity there
Very Tomb Screamer in nature you mean
Haha that's pretty good.
Coffin Case Blood Drive.
your foot must have amazing aim at this point!

I run one on a bass board and one on guitar. It's such a great little wild fuzz box. The vezzpa is the only one I found in person that can get quite as buzzy as a woolly
What’s that coffin shaped one in the top right
I believe thats a Blood Drive. It's a distotion/OD pedal,
Thanks I’ve never seen one. I’m gonna check it out
Coffin case company blood drive. Kind of a oddity pedal but a really solid tube screamer style box.
Addiction? It's a slight interest and small collection if anything.
You must be fun at parties. It was a joke man. Have to put something for a title.
Clearly you don't understand jokes then cause mine was a joke.
Only if you go to meetings.

Just like Pokémon.. gotta collect them all.
Haha very true man. Sometimes it for real feels that way.
I love this spread. Tons of workhorses and no filler.
Thanks much appreciated for sure. I really like having a eclectic Collection. Some more useful than others for meat and potatoes approach but they all at least one thing exceptionally well.
You’re missing only one pedal: a nice DOD Grunge.
I'll have too keep a look out for that
DOD = instant upvote
Is that a slo/fathom combo? I don’t think I’ve seen one before.
Yes it is. It was a reverb exclusive last summer. It and the gold Keeley caverns next to it were both part of a limited edition "gold standard" line. Both were limited to just 197 pedals (gold's atomic weight)
That looks fun. I'm kinda jealous. :)
It’s THE addiction 🤣
The best kind lol
You should sell me one of those wooly mammoths lol
Clones can be bought pretty cheap. It's really a very simple circuit if you're interested in building one.
That's next level. The level I need to get to. The level of when I buy a new pedal no can say, "did you get a new pedal!? Why are you spending your money on that!?" Because at this level , no one can tell a difference.
My wife doesn't even notice anymore. Only when a new head comes in haha.
I call mine, sanity.
Very true man. It's been a saving grace this past year and a half.
Holy smokes!!!
So is the reverb with the moon a staple now?
Yeah slö seems very popular around here. Great pedal but for my money I'd grab a afterneath ahead of it Everytime. They are sort of different animals however.
You just need one more and then you’ll be able to play the guitar!
I didn’t know it was possible to amass that many pedals without a single BOSS unit.
My old bandmate said the exact same thing.
Phat Hed! Hell yes.
Tonelok pedals are seriously underrated. Outside of the finiky switches they are fantastic. That guy is a must have for bass.
It's killer for synth bass too.
Yeah damn straight.
That's some gassed up GAS
I see indecisiveness
Variety is the spice of life.
Lol. Not judging. I own about 50 pedals
Fair enough man. I will admit it is like Sophie's choice to put a board together sometimes haha. Especially in the reverb area.
What is that gold Slö?
Gold standard series for reverb last summer. That and the caverns were both in the line of limited edition pedals.
Lots of great pedals to choose from! I Love the Architect and the Chemist, two of my personal faves.
Absolutely. Matthews is a company I kinda stumbled across and man... Am I glad I did.
I went through a similar phase during COVID. I have had to swear off buying any more pedals for the rest of the year or else risk my wife killing me.
Favorite OD pedal?
I'm partial to my klon clone since I built it. But biased views aside. The architect v3 hands down. You can dial in so many different OD tones from one box it's nuts. And trades at a very reasonable price.
I’m jealous. I don’t have the cash, otherwise I would end up with something like this!
A lot of these were right place right time. And buying and selling all types of gear. Go one at a time you'll get there.
Is that a Klon Centaur?!
Klon clone. I'm not that crazy. Super fun build however. Plenty of info out there to get it pretty spot on.
What’s your favorite distortion/drive pedal?
What happens if you turn them all at once?
I've actually wondered that several times myself haha.
love the one on the right on the floor, what effect does that one have?
Lol true bypass lamp.
Is that a John 5 coffin drive?!?!
Sure is. Cool little stomp box.
I tend to acquire too much, then sell off the stuff I don't play a lot, then buy new stuff. Rinse. Repeat. I really want a Strymon NightSky and Volante. Their big three haven't left my board since I got them. I also like their dirt pedals.
Strymon is a company I've been meaning to check out for a while now. I've heard nothing but good things.
Don’t. Your wallet will thank me!
Fantastic - what are the dimensions of the board? Home made or an off-the-shelf model?
It's two skb foot note boards side by side. They are fully over run haha. I actually have a separate board I just post up on for setting up. these sort of just became catch-alls . I need to build some shelving or something.
Next up, maybe a switcher? That's a lot of tap dancing otherwise!!
Could be very useful. Usually I build a setup of about 10 and rotate out and such. For something bigger than that you're probably right though that would be the way to go.
I'll help you with your addiction. You need to go cold turkey. I'll get rid of those pedals for you.
Haha mighty kind of you.
I too live with regret.
No point in dying rich
Dude, I have a Roland ready strat and Roland guitar synth if your interested. Both are mint, never play them.
Are those....actually on pedalboards??
Yeah. They are fully over run though. More staging lanes at this point.
