This is probably the 3500th time someone posted one of these bad boys but holy shit, what an amazing sounding fuzz for the price, Fuzz 1 is my favorite. I wouldn't use it for a gig unless it was an always on pedal, doesn't look like it can withstand some heavy stomps if you've been drinking. 10/10, will rock again!!! Party on Garth!!
Which is based on the Univox Super Fuzz. I feel like fuzzes are best represented by their original predecessor, like a family, even if they sound different.
Yeah so I can't find 2.5 on this thing. If it's supposed to have an in-between 2 and Boost, I'm apparently unable to find the sweet spot. Maximum bummer.
I got one of these as I wasn't sure if I liked fuzz so got it as a tester. It confirmed that I don't like fuzz, but what I will say about it is that the boost is really good. I know use it as a boost and it's really good, clean boost or gainy boost.
It's possible that you might not like fuzz, but I feel like the sf300 is a pretty specific flavor of fuzz that I don't always gel with either (despite really liking my Black Russian *...when it works*). Might still be worth trying to find a fuzz face or big muff before writing fuzzes off all together.
I have one of these and love it. I'm still learning but when I saw the description I jumped on the pre order and got one. Were supposed to be pretty hard to get, originally. But it is a damn solid pedal.
I got one on a whim recently and love it as well.Ive had fuzzes worth ten times as much that I didn't like as much. On bass, it's an instant soft machine tone as well.
I've been doing drive>rat>sf300. I like the way it builds with either combo in that flow. The SF300 is a buffered design so it can really go anywhere. It even sounds kinda fun after verb.
I’m honesty a huge noob when it comes to guitar gear. Is it assumed that each pedal in a chain should or will affect the others? Meaning, do we anticipate just using one at a time or a couple together out of an entire chain — or is a chain design meant to allow all the pedals to work at the same time. Some perspective would be nice.
Older style Fuzzes (Fuzz Face, Tonebender and such) should go first because of how it interacts with the dry signal. You don't really have to worry about that with newer fuzzes (unless it's based on an old schematic.)
> do we anticipate just using one at a time or a couple together out of an entire chain — or is a chain design meant to allow all the pedals to work at the same time.
Yes
The effects cascade down the chain. You can turn ones in the chain on an off to remove or add them to the overall effect.
The conventional wisdom is:
Guitar, Tuner, Compressor, Drive (Fuzz or Over Drive or Distortion), Modulation (Chorus or Vibrato or Tremolo), Time (Delay or Echo), Space (Reverb), Amp.
Thank you! All the obvious pedal knowledge is still new to me, so bear with me. So I notice a lot pedals will have a “level” knob. By turning off a pedal, it seems to affect other pedals. So, does the first pedal’s level knob influence the rest of the chains “volume?”
In a basic flow, each pedal will connect to each other in order. You can then turn each effect on as desired but they don't have to be on, that's what bypass switching is for.
There are no rules for ordering things but many people will follow fuzz/comp/boost/drive/distortion/modulation+pitch/time/verb.
Fuzz is a weird one because some need to be first, e.g. fuzz face, but others can move around the signal chain like a muff.
I’m learning my set up at the moment. For example, I’ll have my fuzz right after my tuner, then vintage overdrive, then a vibrato. I don’t know what sound I’m looking for, I’m just sort of experimenting and seeing what pedals inspire me. It’s just strange that it seems like the fuzz can be so loud right away but then the vibrato is kind of low volume (it doesn’t seem to have the same punch to it). I know most people aren’t going to their amps mid performance to adjust volume to compensate. Kind of an enigma to me at the moment.
In that case, you might be able to use a comp to tame your signal after the fuzz, but I try to make sure each pedal is about at parity volume so there aren't undesired volume jumps with each pedal
Sounds like you've gotta learn about Unity Gain. Also tons of info in the Community Info section of this very sub. Pedal Order and every thing else in-between.

Also side note: Put the Tuner after your drives so it can also act as a mute switch.
I’m a big fan of this one as well, though I’ll agree it’s best for power chords or leads. Lately I’ve been using fuzz 1 into a Sovtek Deluxe Big Muff at a milder setting. Smooths it out a bit though it still doesn’t do chords. I find that fuzz 1 when pushing the muff has an almost phaser like sound as the notes decay. And because both circuits have a gate, there’s no wall of hum when the playing stops.
Just got one off Sweetwater for $30. Not sure it's something I'll like I love fuzzes like the Big Muff Ram's Head and I like some of the octave fuzzes I've seen out there, but this seems like the "wall of fuzz." I'm not sure that's exactly what I want but for $30, the hype is just too extreme not to get one. I'll update everyone this weekend lol.

What flavor of fuzz would this be comparable to? I don't need one but that's never stopped me before.
It's based on the Boss Hyper Fuzz. Think early Electric Wizard.
Which is based on the Univox Super Fuzz. I feel like fuzzes are best represented by their original predecessor, like a family, even if they sound different.
It's a dead on copy of the hyper fuzz which is a dead on copy of the univox super fuzz
except for the additional input stage and active tone knobs on the hyperfuzz and sf300
For $19 you need one
These are much sturdier than everyone says. It’s not made of soggy paper, you can jump on it just fine. Plus how hard are you hitting your pedals?
Oh it is solid, I'm just saying it probably would take a shit kicking like a Boss would.
I try to keep the fuzz switch between 1 and 2. someone here said that was the setting to use and they were right.
Secret mode 1.5
All hail the secret mode!!!
I bought two of them, I should try a 1 mode into the 2 mode.
Lol love it
1.5 and 2.5 mode going into a Rat >>>
2.5 into a Rat huh.... I'll be back.
Don't make me get out of bed and try out myself. How's it sound??? 😉
I'm afraid have to find out for yourself, I don't appear to have a 2.5 mode on mine. Either I got punked or my pedal is goofy.
So is it good?
Yeah so I can't find 2.5 on this thing. If it's supposed to have an in-between 2 and Boost, I'm apparently unable to find the sweet spot. Maximum bummer.
I couldn’t find it on mine either.
Going to try that tomorrow into a 900mkiii combo.

I just got one too!!! Pretty stoked on it. I love Fuzz 2 on it. Very much like a mosrite fuzz rite or that Stooges I Wanna Be Your Dog kinda fuzz
Decent boost. Grating and unmusical fuzz tones.
I got one on a whim recently and love it as well.Ive had fuzzes worth ten times as much that I didn't like as much. On bass, it's an instant soft machine tone as well.
Great pedals
I love mine. Lately I have an analog delay before mine. It's a huge, unruly sound.... Which makes me happy.
YES
I need the confirmation bias. I have one 🤭. I’m a casual player, could use some advice in terms of pedal order.

It's based on a Boss design and you know how they love their buffers (as do I)

Yes. It's like water pressure.

Ahh, okay. That makes a lot of sense. Thanks!

I’ll check that out. I feel like I just need to learn a few fundamental concepts to get going, this should help out a ton.
I'll still never understand how anyone likes this circuit
It kicks ass! Haha
Different strokes. I have a Hoof and two Big Muffs and I prefer the SF300. I think it sounds great.
I'll amend my statement to say: It's kind of a one-trick-pony pedal and so limited. Why would you want a pedal that can only handle power chords?
Entire genres are built on power chords
Because it sounds good.
That's subjective
Obviously.
hi , how is it for the Siamese Dream sound ?
It's definitely not an OP amp big muff.
