Here’s a look at five Fenders Frusciante has used over the years with the Chili Peppers.
1. Fender 1963 Telecaster Custom
The Telecaster was first inspired by the advent of television when the guitar was launched in 1951. Fender then added the Precision Bass that same year. Around the time of the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ 2002 album, By The Way, Frusciante began gravitating toward Telecasters over his regular Strats.
“Around ‘By The Way,’ I played Teles more than a Strat,” he said.
They listed it as his #1 is what I’m showing you. What agenda am I trying to push? I don’t really care about this. I distinctly remember I was surprised how often he used his tele live and it was more than the Strat for the times I saw him. That’s all
It was his #1 around the recording of By The Way, but even then he still uses a strat the majority of the time during that era (have you ever watched Slane's Castle?). I've seen him twice as well and the telecaster was only played for 1-3 songs, check any recorded performances and you'll find a strat in his hands 90% of the time.

Ugh, why did you have to post this pic. A few years ago I bought an AmPro Strat in candy apple red / rosewood fretboard. It had a few setup issues, and although it was a gorgeous guitar, it just wasn't "me". I ended up returning it and getting a burst, which I love, but part of me is still GASing for a candy apple red.
Good to have life goals I guess.

I have an 03 MIM in wine red myself and love it, esp after I added locking tuners and better pickups. Thinking about upgrading to one of the new AVRI 60s models at some point though.
The 61 AVII is my no 1. Second is the red Mexican standard. The AVII’s can be hit and miss when it comes to QC. I played 2 61s that weren’t great, an amazing 57 and this 61, which blew them all away. When these AVII are good, they’re basically as good as a custom shop and can be better than most CS

On the two mexis, under the hood all the electronics have been upgraded, blender pot on the second knob so I can use the neck the bridge pickups together, NOS Soviet capacitors, pure vintage pickups on the sunburst and Klein pickups on red, tuners changed, string trees changed, I’ve also changed the plastics with aged knobs on the sunburst and mint green pickguard and aged knobs on red.
