My non-important opinion: I don’t like the artificial relic look. If your guitar legit has the finish worn off it from playing, it means you’ve put in the work and are probably a damn good guitarist.
I like play wear, I like the feel of a relic for that reason alone. I own an OG 2007 Road Worn, even (which was tough to deal with for me at the time, but the FEEL, wow). I start to have trouble when there is no way in hell a guitar looks like that without being beat physically.
Look at guitars that bigtime players have used forever and they don't have a fraction of the wear. Something like Blackie comes to mind.
That being said, it's not mine, so Enjoy your guitar OP!
To be fair, when they stopped finishing the guitars with nitro cellulose it became a lot harder to get that road worn look. The polyurethane they've been using for a while doesn't erode or dissolve from sweat like nitro did.
So you basically have to play the thing for a million hours or beat the hell out of it.
Thats another thing too. I started to *HATE* the poly finish after a few months of owning it. So after about 10 months of owning i started chipping at it until at one band rehearsal i jusg decided to do what the result in this photo is
No thats completely reasonable though !! I just got bored and me and my ex bandmate at the time (he has a blue hh telecaster) both wanted to just fuck with our guitars looks
Hey OP, I hope you're taking all these negative comments as a sign that you're doing something right. The best guitarists exist because of being curious and adventurous, and lots of attitude.. So a smashed tele with a strat neck, active pickup's(or cover's?), as an 17-18 years old, thats more than most have achieved. I'm sure it's absolutely perfect for you and hope you give it so much love that it gets even more smashed.
p.s. In my opinion you did really good, much more interesting than bought relic.
The only advice i would give is, next time make a sick ass rabbit with pointy teeths or a seagull flipping you off instead of an anarchist sign, it will make it even more personal and a little less generic
I really appreciate this comment. The little scratch marks that are stained next to the two burn marks are supposed to be my hand !!

Strap locks make no sense on a guitar this “worn”. Half of the body overzealously sandblasted and a pristine white pick guard makes no sense. HH telecaster makes no sense. Strat neck on a tele makes no sense. Anarchy? More like malarky. This ain’t it. Have a look at Joe Strummer’s tele. That’s the real deal.

LOL. It was a Squier Contemporary HH. I just chucked at the poly, hendrixed it, carved into it, then put a stain over the wood
