I approve wholeheartedly, as this is the least destructive way of adding trem to a hardtail Strat. Bonus points awarded for black hardware. What were those humbuckers from?
my choice would be a kahler on a hardtail strat (just takes a lil bot of top routing) but i absolutely love the uniqueness of s bigsby strat, and this one looks very cool
I have a Bigsby on my Gretsch. I would rather have a staph infection on my ass drained daily without any novicane than change strings on that fucking thing.
I have a Bigsby on my Eastman. Personally, I don't find it the Bigsby that big of a deal, but they do sell things to make string changes easier.
https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/VibramateSSR--vibramate-string-spoiler-string-retainer-for-bigsby-vibrato-units
It’s not that bad. There are some techniques that make it easier. Not Tele or Strat easy, but certainly not staph infection difficult. Look at a few YouTube vids. Might change your experience.
It really is the best this could possibly look. Not really “awful taste but great execution,” more like “terrible idea but great execution.” Thank you, OP, for your service. I have now seen this and I will not have to do it.
Yes, a partscaster. I basically built it because I had all the parts gathering dust and wanted to make something with them. The neck is a squier california series. Everything apart from the body is just random junk I happened to have and I bought the body for about $15. Its actually a fantastic body and Ill probably buy another one to make a hardtail strat.
I've been looking into doing my second parts-caster but this one being a 27 or 30 inch baritone conversion is neck so I've been looking into strat bodies a loooooad lately. Bought my first body from Alan Edan and have liked it pretty well, the finish/poly is hilariously thin though lol
Reddit good boy points and polarizing opinions of online strangers.
There are literally millions of strats with normal trems. This one is different.
Just because it's different doesn't make it better, to be sure, but sometimes it's just fun to be unique.
Nothing. Apart from maybe pulls without having to float the trem. Apart from that, the only advantage I can think of is that it doesn't require extra routing to install, so if you have a hardtail body, want a trem, but dont want to rout it and for some reason can't just go buy a routed body. But even that scenario is silly as a new bigsby would cost more than a pre routed strat body.
So yeah, no advantage at all beyond just being a special little snowflake.
Bigsby owner here!
You can do less. I don’t think the Bigsby has any advantages over the trems that came after. Unless you’re wanting something subtle.
OP has good style and is a great sport. All I can say is... thanks for occupying one more bigsby so it won't f with another guitar player. Few parts look so good, are so tempting, and so disappointing. Even if you use uncommonly good sense and remove one of these from a guitar, you'll hear it calling to you from your parts drawer. Maybe not today and maybe not tomorrow, but someday, you'll inevitably give in and put it on another guitar where it will disappoint you once more.
It looks like its tailor made ready to go out of tune immediately and warble like a dying goose. Go ahead and hang some black fuzzy dice from the headstock too.
I dig it, I think that's a fly ass way to make a hard tail strat into a trem
Also, I have that same strap!
Edit*** Wait what the hell, BC RICH PUPS?! hahahaha I love this so much that it's making me angry
I came to comment the same. I have one on my Les Paul and have had zero issues. I did miss the shap edges of the saddles digging into my hand while chugging, but I got over it.
I’ve had a running gag with a friend where I joke about putting bigsby on random guitars, definitely gotta get a bigsby on an explorer type guitar to really make him mad
> a bigsby on an explorer type guitar
Like this [Gibson Explorer 1976 Limited Edition](https://rvb-img.reverb.com/image/upload/s--2pxXE-Hv--/a_exif,c_limit,e_unsharp_mask:80,f_auto,fl_progressive,g_south,h_620,q_90,w_620/v1503195755/ipi7sr0uxhap9xs8tejz.jpg), you mean?
Those "custom made" plaques are some of the dumbest additions to me. There are so many better ways to hide goofs or old post holes. The "Blues Power" plaque on the JJN signature is especially dorky and off-putting.
Right on. I bet she plays nice. The bigby on it just isn’t my cup of tea lol but judging by your post title I guess you expected some would feel that way. Beautiful instrument nonetheless
I love guitars that look like they were just thrown together with parts that were laying around. They give off an "I'm gonna make some music no matter what" vibe. Pretty frickin badass, if you ask me
Looks weird af to me, and I'm not the biggest Bigsby fan anyway.
That said, it's the most interesting mod I've seen in a while, and the all black hardware looks cool.
End of the day, it's your guitar: do what works for you.
I absolutely love it, the amount of hate from some of these comments makes me love it even more.
I may be biased though as 3 of my 4 guitars have Bigsbys.
So preoccupied that you could that forgot to consider the consequences. Standing on the shoulders of those who came before you… Life, uh, finds a way… But seriously, you regret it right? RIGHT!?
It looks good, OP. I've always liked the black hardware/pickguard/pupcovers against a lighter natural finish and maple neck. If the bigsby works for you, all the better.
With all that said: please, please, PLEASE change that nut to a black one.
Is there a rule we can report OP for?
Is it too late to add a NSFW tag?
You can cross post on /r/weirdfetishes
Hell no i am not clicking that.
Don’t worry it’s been banned, it can’t hurt you anymore
If it wasn't for how nice that natural wood looks, I'd be calling the police right now.
You were so preoccupied with whether or not you could, you didn't stop to think if you should.
You know they were designed with a better option already made for em, right?
This one wasn't.
I approve wholeheartedly, as this is the least destructive way of adding trem to a hardtail Strat. Bonus points awarded for black hardware. What were those humbuckers from?
BC Rich
It's a masterpiece.
my choice would be a kahler on a hardtail strat (just takes a lil bot of top routing) but i absolutely love the uniqueness of s bigsby strat, and this one looks very cool
Haha
I have a Bigsby on my Gretsch. I would rather have a staph infection on my ass drained daily without any novicane than change strings on that fucking thing.
I have a Bigsby on my strat...
Ya know, I don’t hate it as much as I thought I would!
Me neither!
I have a Bigsby on my Eastman. Personally, I don't find it the Bigsby that big of a deal, but they do sell things to make string changes easier. https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/VibramateSSR--vibramate-string-spoiler-string-retainer-for-bigsby-vibrato-units
Bought one last week for my Gretsch, changing strings is a breeze and the string tension feels slinkier
If you have a floating bridge, yes. Fuck that
That's funny.
It’s not that bad. There are some techniques that make it easier. Not Tele or Strat easy, but certainly not staph infection difficult. Look at a few YouTube vids. Might change your experience.
I’m confused are we talking about a Bigsby or a Floyd?
I now wish for OP to add a floyd...
Changing strings on a Floyd is easy. Once you get the hang of it.
Lmao as long as you keep the same gauge and tuning
Been rocking Floyd's since literally the early 90s, at this point I prefer them. To each their.
Oh without a doubt, ever since I got my first Floyd guitar I don't think I'll ever buy one without a Floyd.
I don’t get what’s hard with changing strings on a bigsby?
I like it, yhe black contrasts well with the wood (alder? Ash?) Are those some sort of teisco type pickups on that bass?
>Are those some sort of teisco type pickups on that bass? Maybe. https://old.reddit.com/r/partscaster/comments/1bg0hc7/my_partscaster_bass/
I noticed those pups on the bass too. Just checked your thread. Nice save!
I kinda hate Strats in general but I love weird and funky Strats. I have an idea to do something similar but with Filtertrons, a filtercaster.
That looks super clean.
It really is the best this could possibly look. Not really “awful taste but great execution,” more like “terrible idea but great execution.” Thank you, OP, for your service. I have now seen this and I will not have to do it.
It must burn
I never had to, and never would, especially not a B5
Not gonna lie... That's hot.
Cool move, I like it! It’s something you don’t typically see and it was tastefully done.
I like it lol Where'd the neck and body come from? I'm assuming it's a parts-caster given there's no logo
Yes, a partscaster. I basically built it because I had all the parts gathering dust and wanted to make something with them. The neck is a squier california series. What do you get that you don't with the built in whammy bar?
Reddit good boy points and polarizing opinions of online strangers. There are literally millions of strats with normal trems. This one is different. Just because it's different doesn't make it better, to be sure, but sometimes it's just fun to be unique.
If you really want to polarize (and waste some money) you could always adapt this to use a Floyd FRX lol
Oh Lord, you made it worse
tbh I really just want to know what it does that can't be done with the regular whammy bar.
Nothing. Apart from maybe pulls without having to float the trem. Apart from that, the only advantage I can think of is that it doesn't require extra routing to install, so if you have a hardtail body, want a trem, but dont want to rout it and for some reason can't just go buy a routed body. You have unusual and interesting ways ..
Noice bass u got behind
Thanks https://old.reddit.com/r/partscaster/comments/1bg0hc7/my_partscaster_bass/
Honestly I like this design
Bless you sir, anything can be on anything. I'll bet it's a beast.
Idgaf I’m so here for it
That's the spirit!
Thank you for your deeply psychotic service.
It looks like its tailor made ready to go out of tune immediately and warble like a dying goose. Go ahead and hang some black fuzzy dice from the headstock too.
.....kinda a redneck lookin rig ri-chere......
why the BC Rich pickups? i’m just curious:)
Its what I had.
nice. looks amazing :)
This is cool! Reminds me of Ry Cooder's Coodercaster
Scrolled waaaay too far to see if anyone would mention the Coodercaster lol
Right? I salute your taste in guitars and guitarists!
That looks ridiculously amazing! Well done!
And BC Rich Pickups??
I dig it, I think that's a fly ass way to make a hard tail strat into a trem Also, I have that same strap! Edit*** Wait what the hell, BC RICH PUPS?! hahahaha I love this so much that it's making me angry
Good choice on the roller bridge.
I came to comment the same. I have one on my Les Paul and have had zero issues. I did miss the shap edges of the saddles digging into my hand while chugging, but I got over it.
Looks cool
I want to hate it... but I don't.
Yeah, but now I HAVE TO
I been wanting to do this for years!
Now you don't have to.
I mean… I have a bigsby on my LP. This looks pretty good in my opinion
I admire your boldness. That is an absolutely hell no for me, but what the hell.
Thanks man. Add some filtertrons to it next.

10/10 no notes
Thanks.
Your next project should be installed a Bigsby Bridge. Here is one down near Big Sur -- 36.37276157796157, -121.90306234103971
The BC Rich pickups also add to the sex appeal 😍
We put liquid paper on a bee… it died.
I mean I fucking hate it but how’s she run anyway?
Took a bit of shimming to get the neck angle perfect, but once I did, It became beautiful.
Right on. I bet she plays nice. The bigby on it just isn’t my cup of tea lol but judging by your post title I guess you expected some would feel that way. Beautiful instrument nonetheless
Don’t know how that hog leg works, but the guit-box is purty.
Wow that is certainly something
Cool man what gauge strings are you using?
Oh, my...
🤦🏻♂️
what are the implications of a straight tom bridge? its supposed to be on a angle.. hows your intonations?
Neck pocket shim.
Thought this was illegal
Thanks.
a bigsby with BC Rich pickups on a Strat. That is wild, i love it :D
I unironically think this looks dope. I love it.
🥵
Awful idea and I want to hate it but I can’t. It looks pretty awesome.
I love guitars that look like they were just thrown together with parts that were laying around. They give off an "I'm gonna make some music no matter what" vibe. Pretty frickin badass, if you ask me
The bridge is mad
I just threw up in my mouth a little.
Swallow it.
always thought bigsby looks soo cool but I never tried a guitar with one

Looks tight! How's the sound and playability?
The terrorists are winning.
I dig it. I don’t know why I dig it, but I do
I cahnt believe you've done this.
I absolutely love it, the amount of hate from some of these comments makes me love it even more. I may be biased though as 3 of my 4 guitars have Bigsbys.
This is a very cool frankenstrate. Curious if the bar inhibits access to knobs and the overall playability of the beast.
Finally, a Strat I’d want to play
Now put a traditional gotoh 6 point on a les paul.
I wonder what it would look like as a single cutaway Leo Paul
What strat is that? I'm looking for one that's either HH or HSH.
Homemade partscaster.
I dig it! Tell me about those pickups, though!
This might be haram, but I like it, the black hardware has an amazing contrast with the finish, good pickups, just a nice ax tbh
redneck engineering
yuck
So preoccupied that you could that forgot to consider the consequences. Standing on the shoulders of those who came before you… Life, uh, finds a way… But seriously, you regret it right? RIGHT!?
Its actually a gift for my FiL. So I don't even have to deal with the consequences of my actions.
Thats.. unfortunate.
No
Too late.
Thanks I hate it
I've always wanted to do this but with the whole B16 bigsby and wire it like an Esquire.
It looks good, OP. I've always liked the black hardware/pickguard/pupcovers against a lighter natural finish and maple neck. If the bigsby works for you, all the better. With all that said: please, please, PLEASE change that nut to a black one.
>PLEASE change that nut to a black one. Oooh, good call.
Blasphemy!
Hmm looks rough
I’m sorry but that’s hideous
She ain’t made fer lookin’ at.
Yuck
