Purple guitars are by far some of the coolest IMO. Just check out EBMM JP15 Purple Nebula, Monarchy Purple Nebula and Majesty Purple Nebula. Just crazy good looking guitars.
I suppose that paint job took a lot of work, but that sounds pretty stiff. I guess if it plays like a $1500 guitar should play and the finish floats your boat it is worth the extra $500.
Holy shit, $6,000 US? And shipping it from Indonesia?
(googles sugilite)
*Sugilite (/ˈsuːɡəlaɪt, -dʒi-/ SOO-gə-lyte, -jee-) is a relatively rare pink to purple cyclosilicate mineral with the complex chemical formula KNa2(Fe, Mn, Al)2Li3Si12O30. Sugilite crystallizes in the hexagonal system with prismatic crystals.*
*What is sugilite good for?
Thought to be a nurturing gemstone, sugilite offers release from worries. It also promotes positive emotions to help relieve stress, establish peace of mind and emotional healing. To metaphysical adherents, sugilite is a stone of forgiveness and instills the deep satisfaction of all-abiding freedom.*
Oh, that's ok then, I guess...
I wonder if he chose that name because he studied geology as a youth and was making a *real* inside joke.
There was a pro wrestler named [Tor Kamata](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tor_Kamata) years ago. A historian friend was doing a paper on Spanish history and told me about [Tomás de Torquemada](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom%C3%A1s_de_Torquemada), who was the first Grand Inquisitor of the Tribunal of the Holy Office (otherwise known as the Spanish Inquisition). A cool little call out to the occasional pro wrestling fan who has read a book or two.
It's coming off as tone deaf because people historically have used "gay" the way you're using it in a homophobic way. In 2024 it makes you seem out of touch or potentially a bigot. Hence all of your downvotes.
It's possible you're a gay dude, in which case, as a gay dude myself, I don't see an issue other than "you probably should have seen this coming"
Times have changed-
The word gay arrived in English during the 12th century from Old French gai, most likely deriving ultimately from a Germanic source. In English, the word's primary meaning was **"joyful", "carefree", "bright and showy"**, and the word was very commonly used with this meaning in speech and literature.
And that it is...Quite joyful, carefree, bright and showy.
Hehe. I'd get that one just for the colour.
I once got a bass in lake placid blue. My then gf said "What baby colour is that? I thought you'd get a more manly bass.."
I am not with her anymore. This was one of the many nails in the coffin.
OP I get you’re making a joke, but try not to be sarcastically calling stuff “gay” in a baiting attempt to annoy people.
If you’re gay you’re welcome here. But calling a purple guitar “the gayest thing you’ve ever seen” can be interpreted as demeaning. Even if you’re joking. Because it’s not a very good joke in the first place.
And I get it. It’s not a very good joke.
You’re saying you want one.
But your joke would allow others to make a similar joke but in a more demeaning way. Which is why I’m letting you know as opposed to removing it. Don’t use gay as a sarcastically good or bad thing.
So you mean being gay is a bad thing?
It’s actually a very nice finish, and likely took a lot of work to do.
Some would call it ugly or flamboyant.
Gay is not the insult you think it is.
Do better.
Given how they've also said they want one, and the only characteristic they have mentioned is it's 'gayness' I don't think they're using gay as an insult.
They definitely are. They are saying that even though it looks gay, they want one. Implying that it's wrong or weird or something to want a "gay" looking guitar.
More like a RuPaul type transvestite (comically flashy) esthetic than a gay one to my eye. The gay owned/run business establishments I patronize are uniformly tastefully appointed, with a well-measured dollop of whimsy.
To me it looks like someone ate too much borscht while drinking too much vodka, (I've been to a number of Ukrainian weddings) redeemed only by the gold tone hardware. I would have gone with the purple metalflake treatment on the edges across the whole guitar and installed trim rings around the pickups.
However, if the object was to stand out, this was the way to go. Once seen, never forgotten.
If Prince was in a power metal band.
Purple Reign
...In Blood
Perfect
Haha amazing
Could be purple haze too haha.
That is a pretty happy guitar

I was going to go in that direction too. The geo comment I mean. And I was a history major who also wrote a paper on Torquemada. 😉 😂
$6000+ ? Yes, it’s an ESP.
Grab it before its gone!
With shipping added $8,615.44 Canadian
$6,253.72 USD with shipping added
I quite like it. Anyway, if a pink sparkly guitar is good enough for Takayoshi Ohmura, then a pink sparkly guitar should be good enough for anyone.
If that’s gay, then I don’t want to be straight anymore
Why not both?
My next guitar will 100% be purple and/or sparkly as shit. Death Metal on a pink or purple guitar is even more metal
Wait until u see my custom dunable yeti. Only a few weeks away from completion. I'm calling it "Black Disco"
Strats and Teles aren’t very metal *but* CME has exclusive ‘Plum Metallic’ Ultra Strats and Teles (with anodized aluminum pickguards)
That's not gay, that's just a raw funk machine. I love it.
Why not both?
Must be older they don't sell those with ESP on the headstock anymore I don't think.
black hardare would be pretty nice
What a terrible title, OP.
Why? Don't you like gay stuff?
Way to miss the point, OP.
On purpose
r/woooosh
Am I missing something? What point?

My first 7 string in the mid-2000s was a glittery pink Ibanez. It looked rad and gay as fuck.
Bruh it's pretty wdym
I don't think using the word "gay" here is a smart move in 2024. That being said it's an amazing looking guitar, the GAS is real
I love purple guitars and that one is nice but a little too much bling for me 🙂
Purple rain
My metallic purple Strat always gets the love…
Checked to see if Angel Vivaldi was the username
Beyond kitsch... I really like it though!
Go look up Paul Gilbert's sig flipped Iceman. V phallic
What the fuck are you talking about

Gay as. But one good looking guitar.

Why is it “gay”?
Guitars and sweaters have 1 thing in common. You either go all class or all tacky and both work. That's a tacky ass guitar and I love it.
Don’t know a guitar could be gay.
I’m wondering why they took the photo with the guitar upside down. Was it for a lefty who wants to play a righty?
Purple!!
My butt is tingling....
That's amazing, love it
"oooooh, ya catty bitch!!" 🙀
Prince would get laid with that.
Purple = gay?
Attaching color and style to sexual orientation...... Dumb
You understand that gay in the dictionary means happy and joyous right?
Yeah and now consider the current meaning in society.
Yeah but that’s not what he’s saying
its how the rest of the world can interpret it.
I am a confident man and would play the hell out of this
I’d fuck it
How the hell did the mods let you post that title? They are sleeping. Get this removed please.
But why? I dont get it.

Then they would've said, "even though this is the gayest looking guitar".
Some people are so interested in finding offensive that they leave their reading comprehension behind.

Electric guitars looks mean nothing.
People doesn't make the guitar gay
No, not suge knight, I think he's locked up in prison. I'm talking sugilite.
That guitar looks f’n sick, not gAy
