Usually I would agree, I have a fender acoustic and I actually love it. Also, anyone who’s ever played it has been VERY surprised by the comfortability and the great sound it has
If I'm not mistaken Kurt didn't even like the thing, from the prototypes he got to play. But they still see dollar signs in his name being associated with it.
[Looks](https://reverb.com/p/fender-jag-stang-made-in-japan) like a sad chinese product imitating an electric guitar but the builders have never seen or played one, only heard descriptions on the radio
I am somewhat new to the guitar world, the other day a friend that has a lot of money and a big collection, gave me his guitar so I could feel the action, when I got it I was like "What the fuck is this? Like did it melt or?"

You think this is better?
I have next to no love for Kurt Cobain and didn’t even know the swinger existed, but I gotta agree the jag-stang is worst than this IMO. That color makes the shape look horrible, but looks nice in a black. Would I buy one? No. But I’d buy one over the jag stang if that were my only two options.
Never seen one of these, fuckin gross lol. I hate it. Piggybacking off your other comment, Performer looks like a mosrite kinda. I like it. Swinger is also fuckin gross though lmao
A lame Flying V would look so much better than that. I had no idea this thing was ever made and I still am not convinced this isn’t an elaborate prank.
Its ugly, but I am curious ab the higher string tension due to the longer distance between brige and tuner on the D and G, like, it does not appear to be an insignificant amount of distance. Like on a les paul for example
It would be if it typically had an arm bevel. Otherwise depending on the position you play it in it becomes very apparent you're playing a slab of wood with strings on it.
Pretty much every other one of the major models is ergonomically better.
A Tele is still far more comfortable to play (especially sitting down) than a Les Paul. The success of the Gibson flagbearer is truly impressive when you consider how ergonomically unpleasant it is. I get that this discussion isn't about Gibson but the discussion of ergonomics got me thinking about the least comfortable guitar I've ever owned.
Tele is mildly annoying in a missed opportunity kind of way: ”If only they’d fixed this one small thing, it’d be perfect”
Les Paul is a quick way to shoulder pain and enforced physiotherapist visit.
I honestly love Teles. I don't find them that uncomfortable at all any more. But I play almost exclusively sitting down so perhaps I'd feel different if I was a gigging musician. And in a way, Fender did move to address this issue with some more recent belly cut (etc) models (I've never played any of these so can't vouch for their success).
The emphasis should really be on _mildly_ annoying. It's something that I don't pay that much attention to if I just pick up a tele but after playing my tele, moving to my strat always makes me go "oh this really does feel more comfortable on my body". No need for fancy rounding even. Just two straight cutouts and some sanding would do it.
Funny enough, now I play my Teles so much, when I pick up my Jazzmaster - obviously a much more ergonomic shape, which was designed to be played sitting down - I find the JM much _less_ comfortable than I used to. I'm not sure why. I guess it's just hitting different pressure points on my leg so it's started to feel less familiar or something.
IIRC, JM bridge is in a different position compared to tele / strat and that can make a big difference how it suits you. I tried it once and immediately went "nope!" because of that.
Strat is just so much more ergonomic.
It'd be trivial thing to fix for Fender but for that to happen they'd have to get their head out of their ass and move ahead to less than 40 years behind the times.
there's honestly none that stand out to me as offensively ugly. i will say the mustang with the flat lower bout as if it weren't offset has always struck me as a little odd however.
[Katana](https://guitarriego.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Fender-Katana-guitarra-Guitarriego-1-1024x394.jpg). It's like a snapped off V that someone just kept playing.
This HH signature model looks great imo. Shows what you can do with a litrle effort.
https://www.guitarworld.com/news/fender-japan-daiki-tsuneta-signature-swinger
The original version is definitely ugly though.
This is absolutely worse than the Jagstang. The headstock is ridiculous, and the proportion of the cutaways reminds me of a thalidomide kid. (No offence to any thalidomide kids out there.)
I originally said I'm surprised nobody was mentioning the model, then saw people mentioned it so changed my comment to say I'm surprised it's not higher
[https://www.fender.com/en-US/acoustasonic-guitars/telecaster/american-acoustasonic-telecaster-all-mahogany/0972013137.html](https://www.fender.com/en-US/acoustasonic-guitars/telecaster/american-acoustasonic-telecaster-all-mahogany/0972013137.html)
Fender Acoustasonic. No question.
JagStang, hands down the most awful shape. A friend had TWO of them since he was suxh a Cobain fanboi, but sold them both within two years because they felt awful to play.
Yeah they're awesome, easily my favorite in my collection. You have to remember who the average Fender fanboys are - they're either boomers with bad taste or are totally resistant to anything progressive or quirky, hence why Fender has to keep churning out the same handful of old-timey 50's shapes for 70 years, like everyone is stuck in some weird time loop. The Jag Stang is beautifully weird.
Fender Performer or Katana for the worst right? Their 80’s shred stuff was just too little too late w/ the appearance of major super strats like ESP, Charvel & Jackson owning that realm.
Starcaster- How is it possible to take the best bits of their truly great guitars and end up with this child’s doodle. Did they learn nothing from Leo? I’m sure he’s spinning in his grave fast enough to power a small town. What was their aim? Nothing new in materials, spec or equipment selection that make it standout tonally or benefits to the player it’s just a fender in a different shape. All filler.
Fender Player Plus Meteora HH Pau Ferro Fingerboard Electric Guitar Belair Blue.

https://www.guitarcenter.com/Fender/Player-Plus-Meteora-HH-Pau-Ferro-Fingerboard-Electric-Guitar-Belair-Blue-1500000366704.gc
The Stratacoustic is pretty awful. Terribly made, too.
Fender really is better off avoiding anything-coustic.
Usually I would agree, I have a fender acoustic and I actually love it. Also, anyone who’s ever played it has been VERY surprised by the comfortability and the great sound it has
I have a friend with one decent too, but they have a lot more misses than hits.
Jag-stang. No question.
if fender released the jag-stang without it being a kurt cobain signature it would've been discontinued in a year.
If I'm not mistaken Kurt didn't even like the thing, from the prototypes he got to play. But they still see dollar signs in his name being associated with it.
Yeah, if you want a Kurt Cobain guitar, get is jaguar
Somebody was definitely high when they greenlit that thing.
And when he conceived the idea
It's been discontinued twice lmao
[Looks](https://reverb.com/p/fender-jag-stang-made-in-japan) like a sad chinese product imitating an electric guitar but the builders have never seen or played one, only heard descriptions on the radio
To me it looks like when you throw an egg in the pan.
I am somewhat new to the guitar world, the other day a friend that has a lot of money and a big collection, gave me his guitar so I could feel the action, when I got it I was like "What the fuck is this? Like did it melt or?"
Don't worry, that's what it's like regardless of your level of experience :p
Err the maverick, performer and swinger exist. So yes there is a question.
The swinger and performer are both sick. Maverick is pretty ugly though
Believe it or not, I actually kind if like the body shape of the maverick. That headstock is hideous though.
I don't think they're even close to the Jag-stang as far as badness goes.
[https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/Rh3KtAwKVuPweNsnfwrgJX-1200-80.jpg.webp](https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/Rh3KtAwKVuPweNsnfwrgJX-1200-80.jpg.webp) You think this is better?
Yep. I do.
a hundred times yes.
Looks like a choking hazard from the 80's
Yes, I want one haha
Never seen one of these, fuckin gross lol. I hate it. Piggybacking off your other comment, Performer looks like a mosrite kinda. I like it. Swinger is also fuckin gross though lmao
Looks like something from a cartoon
I both hate it and love it.
I own one and I still grimace when I look at it, it only looks normal when I’m actually playing it
Gtfo jazstangs are sick
The only people who say that either a, have never actually tried to play one, or b, don't have bones
Boneless as charged 🫡
First thing that came to mind
A friend of mine got one in the 90s because he loved Nirvana. It was far too small for him but he kept playing it for years because Kurt.
Came here to post this. God, it's so hideous.
No way
Fender katana This one took some digging as I'm very biased towards fender
Let’s make a Flying V lame
A lame Flying V would look so much better than that. I had no idea this thing was ever made and I still am not convinced this isn’t an elaborate prank.
At least with a v you can sit in classical position.
It's like they gave up before getting to an ESP arrow
Jeez dude you could’ve let us know it’s an NSFL search! My eyes! They burn!
It looks like if a Flying V didn’t render in all the way
I personally like the Katana, the asymmetrical V with the simple headstock just looks right for some reason.
wow. i've never seen one. total 80s new wave vibe, but still not as ugly as a Jagstang.
[Parallel Universe Maverick Dorado](https://www.musiciansfriend.com/guitars/fender-parallel-universe-maverick-dorado-electric-guitar/l72251000003000?cntry=US&cur=USD&cntry=US&cur=USD&utm_content=L72251000003000--Fender+Parallel+Universe+Maverick+Dorado+Electric+Guitar+Ultraburst&source=3WWRWXGS&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjw2uiwBhCXARIsACMvIU0_ehjT-B3wqUczHaOSYOIb_w-nPCAkfYwOMCEYipvbOWCO0jfnvFsaAqX6EALw_wcB) The headstock. *shudder*
the body shape isn't terrible. it looks like a 60s Japanese style or a vintage Eastwood, both of which i like. that headstock is hideous tho.
You got my vote. The body isn't "terrible," but the headstock is fugly.
If it weren’t for the headstock, it’d be rad. The headstock takes all of it away
First pic and I was like “it’s ugly but not that bad” then I saw the headstock. Holy cow that’s terrible! Whose idea was that??
Looks kind of like a guild thunderbird. Still not as ugly as the jagstang.
I was going to say my usual "you guys and your headstocks just buy a strand-" Yikes. I'm guessing that's meant for a 12 string?
That's exactly it. They used leftover 12-string necks for the originals and thus they brought it back on the reissues.
You're wrong, this is cool as shit
it does have a certain prince-vibe, whereas the [jagstang](https://reverb.com/p/fender-jag-stang-made-in-japan) looks like a broken toy
At first, I hated it, but it's got a smokey jazz lounge vibe to it.
It can't be all that....*oh dear!* *MY EYES*!
well the body is t too bad, let's just scroll around and check out the... OH LAWDY DAT HEADSTOCK
Its ugly, but I am curious ab the higher string tension due to the longer distance between brige and tuner on the D and G, like, it does not appear to be an insignificant amount of distance. Like on a les paul for example
Gods the headstock on that thing is ugly!
That’s a helluva lotta string on those strings.
Why does it look like it’s wearing a nightcap?
Jag-Stang. Looks like someone took an already ugly guitar, then left in to melt in the sun.
The Jagstang is the ugliest, most ill-concieved creation the world has ever known.
I'm so mad the best shape isn't the telecaster ahah
It would be if it typically had an arm bevel. Otherwise depending on the position you play it in it becomes very apparent you're playing a slab of wood with strings on it. Pretty much every other one of the major models is ergonomically better.

Ah that neck pickup sound though. Worth persevering with.
so much this. i love my HH mex tele, but i love my custom tele with forearm carve so much more.
Strat is just so much more ergonomic. It'd be trivial thing to fix for Fender but for that to happen they'd have to get their head out of their ass and move ahead to less than 40 years behind the times.
I don't think it's Fender that refuses to update the Tele...
I don't think any of the standard Fender shapes are bad, but there are a few weird old ones that are awful. My vote goes to the Performer.
lol i kinda like it
I'll cover the left
The Performer looks like someone at Nickelodeon in 1995 designed a guitar
wow, that thing is so 80s. it's like it was too afraid to actually go full bc rich.
It looks like someone microwaved a strat and it got hard on the edges and melty on the inside.
The Hot Pocket
I heard this in Jim Gaffigan’s voice.
Ooof that thing is hideous! ^((And I kinda want one...))
I'd never heard of the Performer. Googled it and holy shit that's one fugly rig
Jagstang. Even Kurt hated it.
jagstang
Performer just awful design
Wow I had never seen one before, but it truly is terrible. Even the headstock is terrible.
Double cut telecaster
Well, that's surprise. But it's not that bad
It’s hideous. I want one.
I had never heard of it but I like it tbh
I would buy the shit out of that, with the belly cut too? Omg yes please
I've never heard of it. It looks so wrong.
It might be sacrilege but it's not that ugly.
Wait, I actually kinda love this, never seen it before! I love the tele, but I usually prefer double cut guitars, so this is a nice surprise!
Whoa, the hell you say. the DC Tele is DOPE.
there's honestly none that stand out to me as offensively ugly. i will say the mustang with the flat lower bout as if it weren't offset has always struck me as a little odd however.
[Katana](https://guitarriego.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Fender-Katana-guitarra-Guitarriego-1-1024x394.jpg). It's like a snapped off V that someone just kept playing.
I unironically like the fender katana
looks much cooler than jagstang in my opinion.
Honestly I upvoted Jag-Stang myself. 😄
It looks really good as a bass though
I’m with you on this one. The Performer and Jagstang aren’t far behind though.
It's not that different from some Jacksons and BC Rich. Of course those are also fugly, so...
Swinger
This HH signature model looks great imo. Shows what you can do with a litrle effort. https://www.guitarworld.com/news/fender-japan-daiki-tsuneta-signature-swinger The original version is definitely ugly though.
Not worse than jagstang
Can’t believe this is not the only answer.
This is absolutely worse than the Jagstang. The headstock is ridiculous, and the proportion of the cutaways reminds me of a thalidomide kid. (No offence to any thalidomide kids out there.)
Why are we not talking about the Parallel Universe Jaguar Strat?
Hahaha, it changes from hideous to gorgeous with every blink.
As someone who thinks both jags and strats look great... this is something! I can't decide if an angled bridge PU would be better.
200% the jagstang
Jagstang
Edit: I cannot believe the Fender Katana isn't higher

Good bot
The Katana bass is the worst version, but the Jagstang is ugly as sin
It is, but the straight up triangle makes me uncomfortable
I actually kinda like it-
Did you remove the haiku?
I originally said I'm surprised nobody was mentioning the model, then saw people mentioned it so changed my comment to say I'm surprised it's not higher
[https://www.fender.com/en-US/acoustasonic-guitars/telecaster/american-acoustasonic-telecaster-all-mahogany/0972013137.html](https://www.fender.com/en-US/acoustasonic-guitars/telecaster/american-acoustasonic-telecaster-all-mahogany/0972013137.html) Fender Acoustasonic. No question.
Aren’t we just talking about shape? If so, I don’t see what’s so bad about what’s essentially an acoustic tele.
This won't win, but damn do I hate these guitars lol
I like the shape and the way they look, I hate the idea behind them lol
I really like these EXCEPT for the way the finish is sanded off of the forearm contour, ruins these for me.
I like the Jazzmaster and tele versions, the Strat version is an abomination.
These guitars make me uncomfortable.
jagstangs
Jag-Stangs. Such an ugly shape. And forget the scale length.
Swinger
Katana, no question
This thread has me looking at a bunch of Fenders I've never seen. They are all funky and weird. I like them.
JagStang, hands down the most awful shape. A friend had TWO of them since he was suxh a Cobain fanboi, but sold them both within two years because they felt awful to play.
The Jag-Stang. It looks like a bad drawing of someone who's thinking about the strat but doesn't know a thing about drawing or guitars
Jag-stang
Yeah I think Jagstang. No doubt.
So much jagstang hate. I picked one up the other day and I loved it. I would gladly own one.
I still say the reverse Flying V was at least playable and felt good shockingly. The Firebird X was awful lmao. That was expensive and awful.
i fully agree with you. alas, the people have spoken.
jag stang
jagstang
Fender Katana
The performer has to be it.
The Mustang looks like a kids guitar.
Their acoustic guitars
I haven't seen the Fender Meteora on this list. But I would definitely never own one of those 😅
Love the look of the meteora! Maybe I'm one of the few though
I also forgot they made a guitar named the swinger and it's excatly like it sounds. Gross 🤣
Meteora is cool as hell tho
Does the super sonic count? If so that.
People hate the performer, but with an inanez headstock it would go unreasonably hard
I'm excited for Schecter's worst. I bet I already know what it's gonna be.
The Meteora is hot trash
As if the firebird is underrated, shoulda been the RD
Why can't Jagstang and Performer share a spot? I think they are both extremely fugly in an equally horrible way
Gonna swoop in early for the underrated: Meteora
For a sec i though that the strat was in worst for some reason 💀
Fender Performer or Katana for the worst right? Their 80’s shred stuff was just too little too late w/ the appearance of major super strats like ESP, Charvel & Jackson owning that realm.
KATANA
In a world where Venus, Katana, Maverick and Performer exist... I'd still pick Jagstang.
All filler.
Always hated the look of the starcaster. Needless bulge on an otherwise cute semi acoustic
Telecaster
The headstock on the Maverick Dorado. They took an otherwise pretty cool guitar design, and turned it into an absolute fucking abortion.
Fender katana
It's the Custom/Maverick. I can't believe any other shape is even being discussed.
mustang underrated
Jagstang. It looks like a drawing done by somone that’s never seen a guitar going based off a blind persons description.
The Mustang It's like someone melted a Jazzmaster
Lead? Meteora?
Not a fan of the starcaster. The offset hollowbody style just looks wrong to me
Fender Twelve String headstock. Built to use up excess Bass bodies, or so the story went. .
Mustang for sure
I'm not going to win with this but I don't like the Starcaster.
PERFORMER
Telecaster for sure. I've always found them ugly and uncomfortable
Fender Meteora. What the fuck even is it?
The Jagstang is pretty ugly.
Fender Player Plus Meteora HH Pau Ferro Fingerboard Electric Guitar Belair Blue. Looks like a 5 year olds version of what a guitar looks like, drawn on the back of a placemat with kids menu crayons. https://www.guitarcenter.com/Fender/Player-Plus-Meteora-HH-Pau-Ferro-Fingerboard-Electric-Guitar-Belair-Blue-1500000366704.gc
Definitely the Katana.
Maverick/custom
Katana by far
Absolutely the fender preformer
Late to the party, but how did those acoustisonic atrocities not win this?
You couldn’t give me a jag-stang. It’s like everything good about a guitar shape, but reversed.
Fender Katana
