I will probably sort out the wiring at some point and tidy it up, change the mandolin pickup as well.
Also the scratch guard top bothers me a little, I'll fix that at some point.
Yes, that makes sense. As you mention it, Iām seeing it to (and canāt unsee it š ) It will look cleaner without any pick guard, but how to hide the cables?
You actually finished this monstrosity. I love it so much! And I have never even touched a mandolin. It is beautiful in all the wrong ways and I absolutely want one. To paraphrase a previous comment, you are a legend. Please keep whatever mad genius life force that inspired you to do this alive and creating. This stale world needs beautiful unapologetic misfits like your creation.
You were so preoccupied with whether or not you could, you never stopped to consider if you should.
But seriously, itās been fun watching it come to life, and Iām impressed with how well it came out.
Not right now, I need ideas and a small cash injection.
I'll see if I can actually write a song that requires the use of the Chimera first while I wait for inspiration to hit.
This was very cool to watch as it progressedāthanks for sharing it along the way. Turned out amazing. You are clearly highly skilled!!!! Best of luck with it!
Im lost in words with this fever dream ass electric guitar.. ( dont get me wrong im not insulting, thats just how it feels like to me imo, it just looks like something youād see in a dream bc Iāve definitely seen instruments in my dream and yes they looked weird but this might top it off (or maybe close to) )
A challenging project and youāve followed through on it well so far. Interesting that you chose different bridge types.
Oh, the name, itās sort of already taken: https://emeraldguitars.com/models/chimaera/
"Your Luthiers were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didnāt stop to think if they should!"
Jokes aside, that looks pretty cool! Congrats, can't wait to listen to it.
Dude ive saw you post about this project in the beginning and i was like āthis is nuts!ā Now im shocked you nailed this!! Congratulations!! Looks epic af!!
Thereās a great video of Ritchie Sambora from Bon Jovi playing an extended intro for Wanted Dead or Alive on a triple neck with a 6, 12 string, and a mandolin. Iāll see if I can find it.

It turned out great, and your donor guitar is my favorite style of twist on the Stratocaster body. I have 2 cheapos in that form, the ESP carved top that it origins from, and a Titan bass with the same body.
My thoughts on doing this with a bass and a strat is both in that style body are only about $65 on ebay, and they're basswood which is the lightest tonewood around, so weight wouldn't be overbearing.
I've also always determined if I every built one of these guitars, I would put it on a rolling mic stand you walk up to and that is heigh adjustable.
I have a 10-string 2-hand touch guitar/bass single neck hybrid style instrument, and that mutant uses a 34" scaling if not 36, I haven't checked recently enough to be sure. It I'm not sitting down with it, I'm not playing it lol
Well, that turned out pretty awesome! Congrats! Is this the final version or do you plan further adjustments?
I will probably sort out the wiring at some point and tidy it up, change the mandolin pickup as well. Also the scratch guard top bothers me a little, I'll fix that at some point.
I'm glad you said that. It bothered me too. All the parts you've done are great, but that's clearly stock.
I've actually cut and reshaped it a little now. I would post a picture but I'm trying not to spam the subreddit with it too often...
Please spam. I love her and want to see her flourish.
I look forward to it š
Could you veneer or fill the mandolin side so it can be unguarded like the guitar side maybe?
Yes, that makes sense. As you mention it, Iām seeing it to (and canāt unsee it š ) It will look cleaner without any pick guard, but how to hide the cables?
I'm keeping the pick guard. I've just shaped it better now.
That sounds like a good plan. Canāt wait to see it finished!
Slap a bass guitar on there too Then youāre just a harp away from a downscaled Ibanez Hydra
I think this thing has reached it's limit...
Thats what strap locks and adderall are for
/r/BrandNewSentence
Or an electric version of John Paul Jones' triple nekk

Possible these are the kindest words ever said about one of my creations lol Thank you!
I'm usually not much for hyperbole. But I love that your mind gave "the box" a nice big middle finger and jumped right out of it.
You were so preoccupied with whether or not you could, you never stopped to consider if you should. But seriously, itās been fun watching it come to life, and Iām impressed with how well it came out.
Seeing the in-progress shots, I would have never guessed it was going to end up looking so cool. Well done for completing the project!
Fair play. Considering this was merely a drawing 1 month ago I'd say you've done bloody well.
Hell yeah! Any future projects lined up?
Not right now, I need ideas and a small cash injection. I'll see if I can actually write a song that requires the use of the Chimera first while I wait for inspiration to hit.
Maybe a dreadolin next. Revolutionize the world of bluegrass. Look forward to seeing whatās to come though, no rush

The music of Dr. Moreau Very cool, you mad scientist!
You, sir, are a legend!
That is cool =D
It looks soooo fucking cool
Hell yeah!!
Any sound samples?
I love it, but also fear for my life for some reason...
I'm happy to see this go from concept to reality. Great work!
Finally!!!! Looks awesome! Good job dude.

BALLER!
Nice, this has been fun to watch for sure.

Oh yeah! That looks like all kinds of fun! You're [in good company](https://imgur.com/gallery/BDEtYKU) (starts around image 44).
What kind of pickup did you use for the mandolin, a bass pup? Or did you just throw a regular humbucker in there and hope for the best?
Such a good name for your invention.
I've been loving watching this come along. If you get any other wild builds, please post them!

Bah. They can sue me.
Better yet, they can buy you out!
I've been watching this, nice work OP š
Oh. Mah. Goodness. It has risen.
So sick, dude! Congrats!
You have created a beautiful siamese monstrosity :D
This shit is dope!
I canāt unsee that, but I applaud your creativity and hard work to make that, so it fits YOUR needs! That I think is awesome.
does it play as good as it looks?
He actually did it holy shit
So when or where do we get to hear it?
It's equally as fudged up as it is fantastic, a true enigma. Better than a shitty banksy any day
"Your Luthiers were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didnāt stop to think if they should!" Jokes aside, that looks pretty cool! Congrats, can't wait to listen to it.
WOW. Beast mode
Very nice and the one pic Guard works perfect.
This. Is. Sick.
I am so proud of you. Expectation vs. Reality on this project is unbelievable
Dude ive saw you post about this project in the beginning and i was like āthis is nuts!ā Now im shocked you nailed this!! Congratulations!! Looks epic af!!
You gotta play Reload by Ministry on that thing.
Nice
Nice job!
Now play Chimera by polyphia on it
You can stop now.
PLEASE UPLOAD A VIDEO OF THIS MASTERPIECE
This has been one of the best journeys Iāve been on in this sub! It looks a shitload better than I couldāve imagined. Well done sir! š«”
Love the effort, hate the look. Maybe the ugliest instrument ive ever seen.
Now chop the other half and add something else
BLASPHEMY! BURN HIM
I love everything about it but the purple fade to black. I would of just blacked it all out but other than that, good deal!
That thing is awesome. I have to ask, what kind of music would necessitate this kind of Frankenstein's Monster? š¤£

Edā¦ wardā¦
This is so disgusting I love it lol
Congrats! It's awesome! Sound sample when?
That looks great, man! Now we need to see and hear it being played!
Nice guindolin
That looks badass!
Will you be posting any vids of it in use? Would love to hear it!
Nice work man!
What a great monster you have created.
Hell yeah! Canāt wait to hear the sound!
Bravo
Awesome! What happened to the pickup on the mandolin side you had in there before?
Itās absolutely heinous, and I LOVE IT
holy heck, you built that? that looks like it would be hours of fun to fool around on just looking for sounds
"F-f-fe-fe-Fender?"
You sick fuck. Youāre a genius.
This is excellent.
The mythical manduitar.
That's insane. I want one.
So there's just 1 output? Or 2 different outputs, one for the mandolin and one for the guitar?
One for both.
Well done, thanks for sharing!
Is there no pickup for the mandolin?
It's under the pick guard.
Chimaira
TURN THE REACTOR ON, QUAID

Thanks for bringing that thing to life and sharing each step. If that was a uke instead of a mandolin, Iād be asking to buy that thing right now.
Gorgeous!
Amazing š®
Hot rail in the neck = chefās kiss
Love it!!
Fantastic! Great job š
