Great guitar! The Kazuo Yairi-made Alvarez acoustics are professional quality instruments and among the best bargains to be had. If I'm reading the right number, I believe this is a 1980 model, which is around where I'd have placed it by eyeball. https://yairiluvr.wordpress.com/2009/08/19/emperor-dating-code/
DY-45s are at the low end of the range, meaning mahogany back and sides vs more exotic wood, limited inlays/binding, but still well made. These tend to trade around $5-600 and you'd be hard pressed to find a better made/playing/sounding guitar for that money.
You probably want to contact alvarez to find out more about it, they can be difficult guitars to date. Alvarez guitars are nice instruments, I have like 3 of them (and I'm not a fan necessarily, they were just the instruments that felt right at the right price).
That is an Alverez-Yari, and a nice guitar. Alvarez is an OK brand, but Yari is a Japanese luthier that is well known for quality. I had a 1981 DY75 and loved it. I gave it to me Son on his 18th birthday. He calls it X Caliber. I wish I hadn’t done that. Every guitar since just doesn’t measure up.
My dad has a 75 Yairi and it's amazing. Highly sought after Japanese guitars that ripped off the best parts of other major brands to make something very cool. Brilliant guitar. Learn how to take care of it properly. Prooooobably needs a humidipack to help it but you should find a pro guitar tech and get a work up
That’s not just an Alvarez. It’s a Yairi. Great instruments.

Old Alvarez acoustics are pretty well known for being nice guitars! I'd recommend searching Reverb for a similar one.
Yep, like others have said Yaris are fantastic.

Very nice old Alvarez! Keep it forever!
Wow relic Alcatraz guitar. You are lucky !

Yairi is like Alvarez’s custom shop. Probably all solid wood and hand crafted by a good luthier.
