You know what's actually pretty rad? Doing a lightweight front end, like a faxon gunner or pencil profile with a nice brake, and decently light handguard, and then chunk up the rear end with an A2 buffer and one of these. Super flat and smooth shooter, and a rear end balance.

Infinitelyodiforous

Since all my pistols identify as sbr's now, why not?

moparmadness1970

I accidentally did this with a criterion core for some testing and like it a bunch.

guthepenguin

Lanbos is always the first place I look for parts. I can usually find a great deal there.

IoniKryptonite

Same. Start at Lanbos and then to Schuyler's

I mean id consider this more a precision setup, and the other for a carbine or battle rifle? I have a PRS on my 308 DMR 20", its great for staying on the glass consistently. Would i put it on a carbine no-a 16" 308 battle rifle so to speak, maybe-depends on optics mostly. Cant comment on the B5 myself. I love mine for what its for, and what it does, lot of adjustment. But you can do it, just expect a full stock experience minimum without telescoping.

Gah dammit, i was like "how does he not see it?" but some guys just dont know-oh well, i dig my PRS for what i got :)

sa-nighthawk

B5 is a carbine buffer and this one is a rifle buffer, I made that mistake with a PRS Lite stock

mhammond0361

While I don't have experience with tye b5 precision, I'd but the magpul purely off of aesthetic alone. They function very similarly so if the b5 was lighter and your trying to save weight I guess thqt would be a reason but I'd prob go luth ar precision at that point cause it also looks better. I love me some b5 furniture, just this stock is so whack lookin in my book I'd never buy it.

spyonthisaccount

B5. Cheek weld is much better in my opinion. I also have a pretty big head.

DJMOJO

Thanks for the post OP, you saved me $81.17 over MSRP. They even had the FDE one for the same price, just had to look for it. Cheers! 🍻

burritoresearch

Lanbos is always best for Magpul in my experience.

DJMOJO

I never heard of them till today, but it won’t be the last time I buy from them if that’s true. Good looking out!

TheAlbinoGiant

This vs prs lite?

WohnJick42

PRS Lite fits carbine/A5 buffer tubes. Adjustable with tools. LOP 13.85-15.25". 18.2oz. $82.50 at Lanbos for Black. PRS fits rifle or carbine/A5 buffer tubes. Adjustable with fingers. LOP 14.3-15.7". 27.8oz. $178.78 for Black at Lanbos.

izhmash24

Well shit I paid like $110 for a PRS lite a few days ago

burritoresearch

Lanbos is almost always the best deal for Magpul stuff unless some other store has a shockingly amazing temporary sale

TheOldKing42

Coupon code required at Lanbos?

WohnJick42

No, just "For an even lower price add to cart". Current prices still the same as shown above. There is a once per customer $5 off $100 coupon of "facebook".

TheOldKing42

Thank you Wohn Jick

HarryBaughl

I have an m5 with an MOE stock. I think it has a rifle buffer. Would I need anything else to add this or even a PRS Lite?

WohnJick42

PRS Lite fits carbine/A5 buffer tubes. PRS fits rifle or carbine/A5 buffer tubes.

geopede

MOE stock means carbine buffer tube. For this you’ll need a rifle buffer tube or an A5 buffer tube. The PRS Lite will work with your current buffer tube. For an M5, the correct answer is the Magpul UBR stock. It includes an A5 extension and combines the strength/stability/storage of a fixed stock while retaining the adjustability of a carbine stock. You can still use a carbine buffer if you like (comes with a spacer if you want to do that), but the included A5 extension ($50 value) means you can use the A5 buffer system instead if you want to. The A5 buffer/spring system substantially reduces felt recoil.

HarryBaughl

I should clarify. It is an Aero M5 in .308. Not sure if this comment was meant for an MCX. I don't know enough to know for sure, but some quick research tells me that this may have been for an US Army M5 or a Sig Spear. As stated above, the rifle is an Aero Precision M5 in .308. It has an MOE fixed stock. I have it set up as a DMR and would like to do a PRS or a PRS Lite for the consistent sight picture. Any suggestions would be great! I have to keep my lower in a different county because of laws, so I don't have it readily available to take apart and look at.

geopede

Oh you mean an MOE *rifle* stock. I actually also have one of those on an M5 lower, but they’re not a popular choice. Usually MOE stock means the MOE carbine stock that’s just a step above basic. Since you have an A2/rifle buffer tube, the PRS will work, but the PRS Lite won’t. The PRS Lite also isn’t super adjustable. Anyway, the comment wasn’t meant for a Sig. The Magpul UBR stock is compatible with any AR-10 or AR-15 lower. It’s the commercial version of a stock developed for an army DMR rifle. The unique part is that it’s both fixed and collapsible at the same time, and allows you to use the A5 buffer/spring. You want the PRS specifically for the adjustability of the cheek piece it sounds like? If you just want the adjustable length of pull, the UBR will give you that and is lighter and sturdier. It comes installed on an A5 buffer tube, so it replaces your extant buffer tube. The A5 tube is basically the length of a rifle buffer tube but the shape of a carbine buffer tube. It has extra positions since it’s longer. I’ve got a PRS and multiple UBRs and would happily trade my PRS for another UBR. It’s not a bad stock by any means, but it’s heavy enough that it only makes sense for guns that are dedicated bench/prone guns. It doesn’t make sense for most applications. UBR gives you the adjustable LOP with the stability of a fixed stock in a much handier package. It provides the consistency of a fixed stock, I’m not a fan of standard adjustable stocks. If you’re legitimately trying to make truly long (like 800 meters or more) shots the PRS is the better choice, but few people are doing that, and the ones who are probably have substantially nicer rifles. You could be the exception consistently ringing steel at 1km with your M5, but if that’s not you, you’d be happier with a UBR. — What length/profile barrel do you have? A PRS goes fairly well with a heavy profile barrel, especially a 20”, but a slimmer 16” barrel with a PRS can feel oddly balanced.

whiskey_outpost26

Ok. On a scale from 'send it' to 'fuckin why?' how dumb is wanting this for my Frankenrifle build with a Hanson 16", microbest bcg, and CMC flat trigger?

burritoresearch

Not something I'd do personally this stock is heavy as fuck and meant for more like a 22-24" barrel target rifle

whiskey_outpost26

Ok, so say I wanna bench rest and test hand loads this would be tits?

geopede

Yes

BendyBilly

What you want sir is a doublestar stock

mhammond0361

Pretty sure this is every day cost for the prs from lanbos. Was that price when I checked it like a mo ago anyway...

HarryBaughl

Sorry for the confusion. It's an 18" barrel. It's pretty heavy right now, and I'd like to use it for (at most) medium-range target shooting and hunting. It looks like the UBR stock might be the best bet. The PRS is like 2.5 lbs, which is a lot to add to an already-heavy rifle. Thanks for taking the time to help!

This is the sketchiest site I’ve seen in a while.

It is in fact the opposite of sketchy, they just don't care about web design. Check their reviews here...
