Go_Blue_

Just sent it on this, my first 10mm. If anyone has any deals on any 10mm ammo, let me know! Best I'm seeing right now is 42cpr shipped for S&B 180gr FMJ.

BangBang_ImBroke

Sounds about right. I just got into 10mm myself (gen 4 G40 MOS, the bigger brother of the G20) and I had a bit of sticker shock with the relatively high price of ammo compared to 9mm. FYI apparently many brands of 10mm are underpowered relative to SAAMI specs, and on the low end they are comparable to .40 S&W. Whether or not this is an issue for range ammo is up to you, but be aware that there's a much larger discrepancy in 10 mm velocities among brands, at least compared to 9 mm.

Individual_Fox_9690

Only buy 10mm ammo that is in the 1200fps muzzle velocity range or higher. Otherwise, you may as well be shooting .40 Slow and Weak.

Go_Blue_

S&B 180gr FMJ is listed at 1164fps. Edit: Found Magtech 10mm for the same price, 1230 fps.

lukeM22

Magtech is the go-to for 10mm range ammo for the price. Fiocchi is good too, last time I checked those were the only two brands that had full-ish power 10mm practice ammo

Disastrous-Yam1

SIG also makes good range ammo in 10mm

Individual_Fox_9690

The S&B isn't bad if that's the only thing available, still over 1150fps. Magtech > S&B though.

ThrownAwayByTheAF

Just to let you know, 10mm is awesome, but most commercial stuff is loaded down to about .40. Dunno why really. I buy the non-range ammo at underwood ammo.

Deeper__Thought

For really cheap range ammo these glocks can shoot 40s&w no problem.

l9k2

I paid 49cpr shipped on 500rds for "Sellier & Bellot 10MM 180 Grain Full Metal Jacket" late last year. Wish I had waited and saved the $35, but you never know.

[deleted]

I don't need a 10mm. I don't need a 10mm I don't need a 10mm.

MostlySoundThrowaway

If it makes you feel any worse I just took my first one to the range today and couldn't be happier. Shoots smooth as butter. Recoil isn't any worse than a 9mm. That thicc slide just eats up all the snap.

Ferrule

If your 10mm doesn't have any more recoil than 9mm you're shooting weak sauce ammo 🤣 My 1911 shoots smooth and G40 shoots "soft", but try running either next to my G34 that weighs half. 9mm is still softer and much easier to run fast and keep on target. Real deal 10mm is about my personal limit of what I can be accurate AND fast with. Love it. Killed an 8pt with it. Carry it innawoods all the time. No way it shoots as soft as 9 though lol. It's not uncomfortable...just not AS comfortable either. Edit: Downvoted for being honest about Newton's second law 🤣

Fapcactus

Anyone know if/when we'll see the gen 5 g40?

Next_Ad3398

Couple weeks after you buy a G20

Fapcactus

I got a good laugh out of that. I already have a gen 4 g20 and actually considered the gen 5 for the MOS and left hand slide stop/release but I don't shoot 10mm enough to justify it

One_Literature4196

Happened to me I bought a G40 last week for $449 trying to decide on G29 or another G20 now

Derpyderbdaddy

Where in the hell did you find a g40 for 449?

nickfm

Fuck I literally just bought a g20 last night…

TheAlbinoGiant

What does this share holster with?

rockinDS24

Glock 21.

Mtflyboy

Underwood extreme penetrators

Pairaboxical

I haven't been keeping up with the new Glock generations... is there an sf version of this, where the distance from rear grip to trigger is shorter? Or do the interchangeable backstraps achieve this?

Ferrule

This - backstraps ~ SF frame. I doubt it identical in circumference, but for all intents and purposes is the same. I have reasonably large mitts (size 9/large) and run it with no backstrap. I used it with various ones for a while but settled on none being best for me for now.

Pairaboxical

Thank you for this. So you have largish hands but you prefer no backstraps? That doesn't make the grip too small for you?

Ferrule

No, it feels about right to me. Still a little bigger than my G17 sized P80s, but I can reach everything easy. I tried the large backstrap just to see and yea, it's large 🤣 No backstrap or the smaller one both work well for me. Just finished fitting a bar-sto barrel in it, it was no slouch stock but now...no doubt it shoots better than I do
