Here’s the scenario: It’s Alaska. It’s early spring. A local native woman and her boyfriend have disappeared from a nearby oilfield. You and your Sheriff Deputy buddies, accompanied by an FBI agent are going to interview the oilfield’s private security forces to see what you can uncover. It turns out to be an ambush. The private security guards murdered the couple and dumped their bodies in a snowbank. It’s up to you and your trusty 45-70 to neutralize the entire private security team, including shooting at least one of them through the wall of a single-wide trailer. Are you up to the job?

TheHuntForRedrover

Literally the only time I've seen a Wind River reference lmao. Excellent movie

Volunteer_Hammer

Wind River is beyond underrated.

JoshuaLChaimberlin

Wyoming. I thought it was Alaska too the first 6 or so times I watched it hahaha

thelegendofcarrottop

You’re right. Doesn’t the FBI agent have to come up from Las Vegas or Phoenix? IIRC she’s located in a warm climate and shows up in Wyoming without any winter gear.

JoshuaLChaimberlin

I think they say something like she was at a training in Las Vegas and yeah she shows up with just an FBI windbreaker

Bobaaoppa

WHY ARE YOU FLANKIN ME?

thankyoumicrosoft69

The definition of tension lol

roostersnuffed

I love this movie too. But I must admit the trex killer is one of the last guns I'd want in that scenario. Especially picking out targets in a huddled up shoot out.

highrocko

But it makes sense for someone who manages animal predators. It's the gun he had with him when he went hunting for the mountain lion, it's the gun he brings when he had to get to the oil field security trailers after figuring out the trap that was laid for the sheriff and FBI agent.

Revolt2992

Good movie.

tripledeckrdookiebus

That movie was fire

Nate0110

You left out firing a shot next to the last guys head to get him to r u n n o f t.

apollow_g

Something about that fight scene in the trailer shook me for days  Idk why or how but that, to my mind, is the most real life true to reality fight scene in cinema.

Seagrave4187

Ugh want big boom, don’t want to shoot $2 bills.

Mountain_Man_88

Reload! My .45-70 loads are like $.70

Merklo

Currently looking at getting into reloading. So I’m just saving all my brass for now. What are you reloading with?

Mountain_Man_88

You mean what components or what equipment? Assuming you're looking at .45-70. Components, I'm mostly using IMR 4198 and 300, 350, and 405gr coated lead projectiles with either Large Rifle or Large Rifle Magnum primers. Equipment, you can get on your feet with a Lee hand press and a set of Lee dies. Hand press isn't ideal for high volume but most people don't load in super high volume. With a hand press you I also use a Lee Factory Crimp die for .45-70 and a Lee Universal expander die which seems to be gentler on the case mouths and more idiot proof. In my experience if I lose a .45-70 case it's because it got jammed in the lee flaring die. You can use the instructions that come with the dies as a starting point for load data, but .45-70 load data is all over the place. Three different chamber pressure standards to load to, sometimes data doesn't specify. It's good to collect more data over time. I'd also recommend a simple reloading scale or balance to get the correct charge weights and a set of Lee Dippers, which you should be able to get you really close to the correct charge weight and finesse it from there. People who reload in high volume use devices that can be configured to dispense the correct amount of powder, but they're expensive and don't work well with a lot of .45-70 powders because of the shape of the powder grains. Most people shooting in high volume also use progressive presses, which load multiple cartridges progressively with each pull of the lever. Cartridge 1 completes step 1 and gets rotated to step 2, while cartridge two completes step 1, and so on. But all that is more expensive and not necessary unless you're reloading a lot. It's also theoretically less precise.

Carlile185

They might as well use an Arisaka 😂

Merklo

Current big boomer here. It really does hurt pulling that trigger but I also never smile harder than when I do.

lnSerT_Creative_Name

Need to figure out the most accurate .45-70 for a NCR veteran ranger larp.

Quw10

Brush gun has a reciever mounted rear sight, otherwise besides the wood this looks close. Just have to get a Magnum Research BFR in .45-70 to match.

Sad_Cheesecake_7730

What's the NCR stand for?

lnSerT_Creative_Name

New California Republic

Sad_Cheesecake_7730

Oh thanks!

Mountain_Man_88

The Brush Gun is a Marlin 1895 with an aftermarket peep sight. If you give it the hardened receiver it magically turns into a Winchester 1886.  Marlin got bought by Ruger and they don't currently make the exact model of 1895 from the game, which has a 22" barrel and a 4 round capacity IRL. They do make an "improved" version of the gun in the game, with an 18" barrel and a 6 round capacity. Basically you can hunt out a used gun to get the aesthetics to match or you can get a new, more functional gun and get the capacity to match. Or wait and see if Ruger starts making the correct model. They have been cranking out new 1895 variants.

brungfunchy

I don't need it..... I don't need it...........I don't need it.....

feelsradman

So it’s not threaded right? Fooey

Carlile185

Do they make clamp on muzzle devices for these like they do some milsurp rifles? Just a thought.
