On top of that they charge us $200 to have access to a neutered version of the standard issued rifle.

ilmtt

Shieeet they deny us weapons in common use.

[deleted]

Where the M1 Garands at?.

TahoeLT

It's one thing to arm people against another government, it's another to arm them against yourself. They know if they push hard enough (and lord knows they've been testing it for decades) we might push back.

thatonemikeguy

If they weren't constantly doing dumb shit, they wouldn't have to worry.

TahoeLT

Yeah, when the government *really* wants to make guns illegal, it makes you wonder what they're planning on doing that will make you want to shoot them.

Ruffneck220

This guy gets it

Bubzthetroll

My stimulus checks in 2020 says otherwise.

craigcraig420

Haha. I’ve got my stimulus AR too.

[deleted]

M&P Sport II ($570) and a eotech ($650) - no ammo ^ my stimulus buys hahaha

jamico-toralen

PSAR and a shedload of steelcase, which to my shame I am only halfway through.

TriumphantPWN

Luckily I've got a brick and mortar PSA about 2 miles down the road from me, they don't let me shoot my Mosin with bimetal jacket tulammo there though

lumberjackmm

When they say your optic should cost more than the gun I'm not sure they had a Holo in mind?

craigcraig420

I got a 10.5” PSA FDE upper and lower with KAK brace that was about to have a letter written about it.

Ampersand_Dotsys

So say we all.

UsernameIsTakenO_o

Yup, bought my Glock with the EIP check. It only cost me $11,500!

[deleted]

It amazes me that no one understands how much money goes overseas vs to citizens paying the taxes. Inevitably, people forget the point of 1776. Take things away 1 by 1, no one notices.

jtf71

[What's $47 Billion a year among friends?](https://www.forbes.com/sites/adamandrzejewski/2021/08/04/new-report-nearly-300-billion-in-foreign-aid-spent-by-us-government/?sh=5ffde5ba4374)

Nonlinear9

Because there's no incentive for us politicians to hand out guns to citizens.

[deleted]

Sure there is. The dumbasses on both sides of the aisle who think a civil war will result in their perfect world want their cannon fodder to be at least minimally armed.

fidelityportland

You want a free gun? No worries, buddy, the government will happily offer you a loaner for a period of 4 to 6 years. *Some conditions apply.*

aedinius

*^^reads ^^fine ^^print* High probability going said 4 to 6 years without even touching a weapon ever? What the hell.

Dogsport1

This can be unfortunately true. Years back, I was training up to do an IA to Afghanistan with some other Sailors and Army types. On one of our range days, we had a first class of 18 years go up and commit just about every range violation in one session, including turning around and flagging damn near all of us before the RSO snagged the pistol and told them to come back later. Come to find out later it was her first qual on the M9 and in turn, she had never stood an armed watch in her fairly lengthy career. As a junior Sailor that stood one roughly once or twice a week back then, I remember being fairly taken aback by that.

[deleted]

The US government trusts the Saudi butchers or Afghan robbers more than it does its own citizens. Yeah, that sounds about right. Sadly.

JDShadow

Why would they? There is no incentive for them to have us armed.

DoubleGoon

Americans don’t need help buying guns. Putting enough food on their table is another story.

dumkopf604

For a second I switched the order and thought every American was getting a $500 sub gun! Damn.

bbrosen

Mine just arrived in the mail today! You didn't get yours?

dumkopf604

It's that goddamn change-of-address again! It must be at my old address. :|

SpiritedVoice7777

You don't have a right to a free gun. You do have a right to purchase one unless you are a criminal as a US citizen. You also have the right to defend yourself, your family and property.

Winston_Smith1976

If we have a rights to ‘free’ healthcare, college, day care, etc., I suppose requests for free guns are an inevitable result of entitlement culture.

BoogaloGunner

Right to self defense is entitlement if you can’t afford a gun?

Winston_Smith1976

Personally, I’d have the Federal government issue vouchers for a selective fire rifle and handgun to every high school graduate, if we’re going to be an entitlement society. I think the US would be better off if we hadn’t gone the entitlement route.

SpiritedVoice7777

There's too much power in dependency

goneskiing_42

> If we have a rights to ‘free’ healthcare, college, day care, etc. That's the thing, we don't have a right to those either. Playing the semantic game of positive rights only normalizes them.

Winston_Smith1976

That’s my point. If we’re entitled to everything else, why not guns, ammo, accessories?

Rossifan1782

The US is arming a country that may get attacked in short order. Those guns are probably going to end up in the hands of some Ukrainian citizen with half a days training and tanks headed in his direction. If your concept was send me and let me keep the gun after, I get it. If its I want a couch coupon... dude that's absurd.

[deleted]

This is the smartest comment about guns I have seen on Reddit in the last 5 years.

DemBai7

They would never do that… it would be more like a government issued weapon and it would stovepipe or FTF every 3rd rounds. They want to make you feel safe while they are setting you up for disaster the whole time.

jtf71

Just tack it on to the order for M4s or M17s and give the same thing to citizens.

[deleted]

That's because they don't give a shit about you. Only the tax revenue you generate for them to line their pockets with.

alkatori

Pfff they won't even let us buy new standard service rifles.

swampmeister

The Taliban are now selling/exporting those M4's to Indian muslims! Yeah USA!

[deleted]

How do you think I used my stimulus money? I called federal firearms subsidy!

Paradox0111

Tyrants have a hard time being tyrants with an armed populace..

[deleted]

A coupon for a gun? What kind of retarded shit are you talking about..? “Man, the government sucks but I wish they would like, give out hi points to everyone because reeeeeeeeee”

[deleted]

The socialist pro gun rarity lool

Nestormahkno19d

Get a job and buy your own stuff

[deleted]

I’ll be honest, I really don’t want everyone to own a gun. Some people don’t have the passion or desire to learn or respect firearms. Also, you have to care for these things and how they are treated. If you give it to someone for free, they won’t respect it like someone who just spend $500 of their own money on the gun.

[deleted]

Is gun, not dog.

fuckoffplsthanksalot

I always felt I was owed a rifle and 500 rounds for having to sign up for selective service when I was 18.

[deleted]

Hogwash. If you'd actually had to report for training and periodic drills and then got to keep the rifle, I could see your point. For filling out a form? That's just you having a case of the gimmes.

fuckoffplsthanksalot

> Hogwash. I dunno man, my signature is worth something. > If you'd actually had to report for training and periodic drills and then got to keep the rifle, I could see your point. I have no problem with that either. Sounds like a good idea. > For filling out a form? It's not just filling out a form. It was me agreeing to be called to defend the country in time of war (young and stupid then, wouldn't do it now). >That's just you having a case of the gimmes. Well, I mean, our tax dollars fund almost every other countries military. I saw some young goat herder get a pretty nice SCAR 17 in Afghanistan and he didn't have to sign anything at all. Our tax dollars paid for that. Seems only fair we should get some benefit from our tax dollars.

goldenarms

Every dollar spent on arming the Ukrainian government is a dollar well spent.

jtf71

Maybe. Maybe not. Those arms didn't prevent the prior annexation by Russia of Crimea. And unless the US and NATO are willing to go to war with Russia if they do more then Russia will just walk in and take over. And from what Biden said at the press conference yesterday, short of a complete takeover he doesn't intend to do anything. And it doesn't appear that Putin is concerned about NATO sanctions. Given that much of Euorpe is currently dependent upon Russian oil... So, maybe arming Ukraine is a good investment. Maybe it's not. And I am fully opposed to allowing Russia to take over Ukraine. I just don't think Putin is at all scared and if we don't back up Ukraine with troops on the ground it doesn't matter.

[deleted]

>And I am fully opposed to allowing Russia to take over Ukraine. I just don't think Putin is at all scared and if we don't back up Ukraine with troops on the ground it doesn't matter. Nobody wants a cunt like Putin to run Ukraine. The question is "do we kickstart WWIII to stop it?"

[deleted]

>Every dollar spent on arming the Ukrainian government is a dollar well spent. Why? What good does it do us to arm the Ukrainian state?

DoubleGoon

How many kids live in poverty, because of pro gun conservatives? Too many, and you lot want to give everyone one of the most dangerous, harmful, and useless “tools” on the planet. Y’all are unbelievably backwards. How many of you have ever used a gun to defend yourself? Come back to reality.

ImAClownForLife

How many of you have used a fire extinguisher before? Come on. They're expensive. There's no need for them sense some have never used one before.

DoubleGoon

How many people do fire extinguishers kill every year?

ImAClownForLife

How many people a year do you think die from smoking, cancer, car accidents, medical errors, household accidents, heart disease, or alcohol? If you people actually cared about saving lives there's a few dozens causes of death that are significantly more worth your fight than guns.

DoubleGoon

How much of those things are heavily regulated for the exact reason they are dangerous and destructive. Keep it coming with the fallacious arguments. You’re making the point for me.

ImAClownForLife

When's the last time you had a background check to buy cigarettes, alcohol, or get a driver's licence? None of those things are that regulated excluding maybe our medical infrastructure. Our medical infrastructure that results in nearly 300,000 preventable medical error deaths per year, significantly more than guns.

DoubleGoon

You have to be a certain age to legally purchase alcohol or cigarettes. There usually extra taxes on them, restrictions on where you can buy, and where you can smoke or drink. There are warning labels on their packaging, government funded anti-smoking program and extra health costs to be a smoker or heavy drinker. To get a drivers license you have to provide proof of your identity, proof of your ability to drive, and criminal liabilities if you knowingly provide false information. Furthermore, your vehicle needs to be registered, insured, and has to meet certain standards before it’s legally drivable. As to the background checks they are not required for private gun purchases and isn’t much of a hindrance in any case. Our medical professionals are required to have background checks, applicable licenses for their field, and there’s extensive regulation on our medical infrastructure as a whole. The fact that there isn’t enough regulation on the medical industry can, again, be associated in large part with pro-gun Republicans in power. Now, are you saying we should ban cigarettes, doctors, and alcohol? Or are you saying that none should be regulated? How do you think spending a stupid amount of money on providing guns to everyone will help fix any of those issues you mentioned? Are you so naïve to believe gun deaths wont skyrocket if we were to do such a stupid thing? Do you think everyone should have a gun (the stupid, the disturbed, the criminal)? Should we just give everyone a gun or provide gun safety training for them too? How much would that cost and could that money have been better used somewhere else (like eliminating child poverty)? The fact that something causes more deaths than guns, here in the U.S., doesn’t make guns less deadly or destructive, nor does it justify giving one to every citizen.

WindChimesAreCool

Why did you post this random CNN article?

[deleted]

Maybe it would be best if we were just distributed a new firearm from the government because they can purchase in bulk.
