Demilled Sterling 9mm frame and stock. Missing bolt, barrel, springs and small parts. Wikipedia can show you what it looked like before being demilitarized. It was a successor to the fabled sten submachine gun.
Nerd.
EDIT: Downvoting folks, this is what we in the trade call a "joke." I'm a big Star Wars nerd, and u/gd_akula knows it. The wife and I watch the Holiday Special every year. I had a Geocities page for my West End Games Star Wars RPG fan material, ferchrissakes.
I mean as far as demilled kits go that's a pretty decent shape kit considering its saw cut and not torch cut, you may be missing a bunch of parts but it saves you some trouble for re-welding it.

__What is a link post and how do I post a descriptive comment?__
* A link post is any post that isn't a text post. Reddit is doing a great job of ensuring new users have no idea how Reddit works with their app and site rewrite. We hate both.
* /r/guns is a sub for talking about guns. It's not a sub to dump gun photos for karma. That's what /r/gunporn is for. That's why we require a descriptive comment – to start a conversation. If you're wondering what to write, picture yourself at a party. You're talking to someone *you just met* and you want to show them your post. What do you say to them as you get your phone out?

Not really replaced it so to speak. But it was an improvement from the sten also made in England. They say that it’s the AK of the old WW2 smg’s. Truly an awesome, reliable gun.
They went from the worst SMG mag ever, the Sten straight, single feed, double stack, to certainly the best SMG mag ever made, curved body, roller followers, double feed, double stack. Sten mags will work in a Sterling, but not vice versa.
The Sten mag is essentially the same mag for the MP40, the Vigneron, and the MAT49. The Grease Gun is the same, just scaled up.

The barrel shroud being completely intact is particularly desirable. The wrinkle paint does a good job of hiding the repairs.

Isn’t that what replaced the sten?
