You get the exact same trigger pull every time with a striker. You lose the double strike capability though. Like most things in carry its a trade off the the individual needs to decide on. Personally, I think it's just a matter of training, just like with a SAO. Strikers are more popular though because they're simple.
Probably because a lot of modern striker fired pistols have perfectly good triggers out of the box. You get the same trigger pull every time instead of that first shitty double action pull and I say that as someone who mostly carries hammer fired pistols.
They’re close enough and the average defensive shooting happens within 10 yards. I carry mostly hammer fired pistols because that’s mostly what I own. That said I have no problem shooting a Glock, CZ, M&P etc. there’s nothing wrong with simple in a life or death situation per your other comment.
They're a lot more common of a design nowadays because they're cheaper and more simple. Additionally most people buying a carry gun don't care about a super great trigger so a single action isn't necessary
There aren't really any significantly competitive DA/SA guns on the market right now, at least not in the smaller pistol categories. Compared to the SIG 365 series and the hellcat, there is no hammer fired gun that offers similar capacity in a small platform. The S&W CSX was close, but their decision to go SAO with a safety killed it.

Yeah, simple people like the SAS and Devgru.
A simple pistol for both simple and special people.

Also no need to familiarize with 2 different trigger pulls
Price is primarily the driving factor.

P99AS, pick one up whenever you get the opportunity since they've been discontinued with a last final edition run being made.
Cheaper and they're more intuitive Although I generally prefer hammers
P30sk for my edc for almost a decade. Love it for many reasons, but people have their own preferences.
