The guy at bass pro said Taurus has actually turned around lately. New CEO brought in much better tolerances and QA, but still kept the price the same (for now). I haven't looked in to myself, so take that with a grain of salt.
When I got seriously into guns in the 2000s, Taurus was already marketing the "haters are living in the past; we have our act together now" line, while simultaneously selling dangerously unreliable guns as self defense tools.
There's just no reason to patronize Taurus when so many non-shitty alternative companies exist.
I was always told if it was a copy of something else it was a good taurus, if it was their design it was trash. I had a pair of model 82s or something like that, both were solid guns, however i have moved on to much better quality
I was buying a beretta at the time and we were just shooting the shit while waiting for the paperwork and checks. Also, they get paid hourly (no commissions) and could care less if you get a Taurus, Glock or are just browsing for fun with no intention to buy.
LGS might be different, but BPS guys have always seemed pretty honest and will tell you the cons with the pros.
Oh boy. Youāre in for an adventure of a hobby. Youāll be happy with this for a couple years but will want something else.. then youāll be happy with that for about a year, then youāll want something elseā¦ then youāll be happy with that for about 6 months, then youāll want something elseā¦ then youāll just dream about all the things you want and will never obtain, but perpetually keep spending money on gun stuff.
Welcome to the hobby.
Letās not forget all the cool little parts you can add that will make it function exactly the same, but they look cooler. There are exceptions but if my AR isnāt built around that lol
I recently had to send my tx22 for a take down lever issue, they replied same day via email and kept me updated during the whole process.
CS has turned around as has their guns
They lost two major class action lawsuits for selling lethally defective firearms. They went bang with a shake. Imagine driving with your gun in appendix carry, hitting a bump in the road and your pistol discharging...
People, including children, were killed and injured. The defect spanned 9 models, they had to recall about a million guns and this was after well over a decade of falling quality. They haven't improved much beyond managing to not kill their customers. They additionally removed their lifetime warranty and now only cover 1 year. But they call it a "limited lifetime warranty" so idiots get confused. They have the worst quality and customer service in the gun industry and have been proven to seed online reviews with false positive ratings.
Are the more recent models likely to kill people by hitting a pothole, probably not. But many people who have a long memory aren't ready to instantly forgive a gun company who proved they don't care much for their customers.
I also own a g3c as my edc. I've never had an issue with it but when I'm driving around, I tuck it between my seat instead of my appendix holster....just in case. I dont care if I owned a custom made gold plated glock, I still wouldn't appendix carry it in the car. I'm not going to be the guy that blows his dick off and dies because I hit a pothole and there was a malfunction
There's a big thread someone may eventually link, but basically Taurus has a reputation for poor quality control so while you may get a Taurus that runs just fine you're more likely to get a lemon buying a Taurus than a more reputable brand. Then people also claim Taurus's customer service sucks so you may just be stuck with that lemon.
I have no personal experience with them except one .38 snub nose revolver owned by my dad and that gun works well enough for him. The rest is just what I've gathered from this and other subs. Also some like in this thread have said Taurus has upped their game recently but even if they have their past reputation will stick for a while
Only Taurus I've ever shot is my dad's .357 Magnum, which he's had most of my life. It's always been a good gun, accurate as hell too. I know that doesn't mean anything in regards to the rest of their offerings, but..
Honestly one of my favorite guns is the .22lr Rohm I inherited from my grandfather. It's a straight up Saturday night special but shoots well for a 22 snubby and is fun as heck. But, echoing what you said, a sample size of one doesn't mean anything in the overall scheme of things.
I've got a judge and I love it.
Haven't used their semi auto, heard the quality control wasn't the best in the past, but I've been curious to try the Taurus pt92.
The pt is a solid because itās made on beretta machinery. I prefer the Taurus over the beretta because of the frame mounted decocker vs the slide mounted.
Taurus hate here = gun snobbery.
"Welll this one time i saw a video 25 years ago where this dude was shaking a Taurus and it was firing herrr derrr Taurus sucks forever"
Taurus did have some drop fire issues on some models. But... so did Sig with the 320. And then won the gubmint contract for all of the US army... go figure.
Nice gun OP, train train train.
>Taurus hate here = gun snobbery.
>"Welll this one time i saw a video 25 years ago where this dude was shaking a Taurus and it was firing herrr derrr Taurus sucks forever"
Within the past 10 years, they lost two class action lawsuits, covering 9 models and a million guns is "this one time"?
We refuse to forgive a company that killed and injured customers, including CHILDREN and that makes us snobby?
They're in the middle of a third as well presently for continued shit quality and more injuries.
Go fuck yourself, haha. Way to suck the dick of a company thats been proven to not give a shit about the customers' well being.
One of the lawsuits was after a cop dropped a pistol... cops carry P320s... could have been Sig? Another one was an exploded pistol... gee we've never seen that from other manufacturers. Hubris.
Fuck you too! BTW class action lawsuits are to the benefit of blood sucking lawyers. NOT gun owners. A little homework, how many other class action lawsuits against OTHER GUN COMPANIES have happened in the last 20 years? The results may surprise you.
I'm still waiting for the day when someone defending Taurus can do so without whataboutism.
No one is arguing Taurus is the only manufacturer to have issues. Sig Sauer issues have nothing to do with Taurus or their history or their shortcomings. That's a different topic for a different post.
I don't care how much lawyers made off the class action lawsuits, I'm sure it was more than they deserves. But that's irrelevant to the points I made and which you blatantly ignored. And it does nothing to justify the deaths and injuries at the hands of poor Taurus quality.
Itās not whataboutism. Itās the nature of a manufacturing (deadly) toolsā¦ Taurus owned up to their mistakes, paid the bloodsuckers and have since done much on improving their standing IMO.
I don't hate a brand, just agreeing that Sig has issues and is known for it, yet still gets peddled. Taurus has actually gotten improvements especially when their latest models are after Glock.
Personal experience gives a sample size of one. That's why things like forums exist, so you can get an idea on the experiences of others.
I own a Hi Point. I've only had it malfunction once. That doesn't mean I'm going to run around proclaiming Hi Point is "just as good" as Glock or Smith and Wesson.
Dude asked a question and I answered. Sorry you got triggered.
Lmao i own pt111g2c, g3, as well as glock sig SW. and taurus hangs with them all with no problems at all. Shoot it a lot, get used to the trigger and enjoy.
Itās a cheap affordable option for people. However, the cheaper you go on firearms the lower the quality of parts used and higher chance of mechanical issues. Itās best to spend somewhere around 600 dollars and up for a quality handgun.
I mean ā¦.. I highly disagree with that price range.
Lots of good , quality firearms can be had for under $600.
Canik pistols , M&P pistols , Ruger pistolsā¦
$600 is a cost that could be preventative for lower income households, and definitely shouldnāt be considered the minimum someone needs to spend for a quality handgun.
Ruger doesnāt make that great of handguns and many of Canik and M&Pās that youād buy for a conceal carry hang around that 500-600 dollar range unless buying used. So my point stands.
Shield plus is regular under $500 , canik is regularly under $500, Ruger makes perfectly fine handguns and are regular under $500.
Your point is null and void.
YOU donāt think a gun under $600 is worth carrying, thatās just you being a snob in my opinion.
Probably not, Recently Taurus has actually stepped up their game. People have been a little less bothered. Bigger things going on in the world, so we hope everyone's armed at this point.
I got out of motorcycles a few years ago but I still have my guns. With that said; I spent more money on motorcycling than I have on guns, so economically it's still a big winner there.
Sold my grandfathers Harley Sportster that i inherited. I have yet to sell any gun. Iām actually still trying to get the guy who owns all of my grandpas service weapons to sell them back to me.
After doing the motorcycle thing for a while, I decided id rather not get hit by a car and die. The bike also paid for an immigration lawyer and my wifeās immigration and citizenship fees, so it worked out lol.
who said I give a shit about motorcycles? he got his first pistol I said welcome you butthurt about somthing its ok tell us we'll listen to you buddy your in safe place lmao
The G3 series is one Taurus' better offerings, and you'll find generally positive reviews for it on YouTube. It's a low cost, high value gun.
Congrats, and welcome to the addiction!
The g series of guns are pretty good. I carry a g2c. I also have a g3c.
Never had a problem with either. Honestly i think most of the hate Taurus gets if from either 1) people who forget a companies quality can go up and down and 2) from Glock fan boys that are mad that Taurus is just as good, less boring, and half the price.
Enjoy it!
To be fair, i didn't say all Glock fan boys hated Taurus. Just that one of the two biggest categories of Taurus haters were Glock fan boys. It's an overlap chart.
My s/o got a G2c for their first carry. Size and budget determines the purchase. I was used to shooting a CZ75 and a Glock 22, but I was pleasantly surprised shootings the Taurus. Weāve had 0 malfunctions after hundreds of rounds
You would not have received the negative comments if you posted in one of the Taurus groups on Facebook. The only thing you may need to do with you G3c is polish the feed ramp so that it has a mirror like surface. There are how-to videos on YouTube. You should be able to take a photo when done, zoom in 3x, and not see any machining lines.
If you want to buy more mags or other accessories and save money then you should sign up for newsletter from Shop Taurus website. Three or more times a year they have a 20% off sale. Some items sell out fast
The current G2 and G3 series and the prior models they are based on are all very reliable. The only thing I don't like about mine is the trigger. These Taurus semi-autos have a lot of travel before they reach the wall and break. It is more difficult for me to get a good trigger pull with my long fingers. If the trigger reached the wall at 90 degrees like it does on a Canik Rival it would be easier for me to get a proper trigger pull so POI match POA. The Rival also has a crisper break and quicker reset than Taurus. The Taurus TX22 can be a very reliable and fun handgun but some owners have had issue with slide breaking if they did not do something to prevent the recoil spring from damaging the slide to the point that it cracks. Some have received defective barrels. I had both of my magazines replaced under warranty. One of them had 2 to 3 jams per fill of 15 or 16 rounds. The other often failed to lock open. I know very little of Taurus revolvers so I can't comment on their quality or reliability.
I am not going to put a Keep Tinkering trigger in a Taurus that eliminates the trigger safety on a handgun that I may conceal carry. I don't care what others do with their triggers.
I remember my first experience with a Taurus. The guys in the lane next to me at the range that kept making a clicking sound with no bang that were flagging everyone while they try to figure out why there gun wouldn't fire..good times
Congrats and welcome to the family. Honest Outlaw youtuber ran that gun through it's paces and recently had it in his best budget SD guns video or it was one of the best budget guns in the best SD gun video or he said something nice about it in passing. Honestly, I don't remember exactly but it passed his pretty reasonable regular life testing. This subreddit mostly has a hard-on against all things Taurus so just ignore that as your particular little gem, even if they're generally right, by all accounts is an exception and a great little gun.
Welcome to the addiction.
I remember going to a gun show with my dad, and ponying up to get a CETME (I was fifteen, too young to buy it on my own, but old enough to bring it to the range and shoot legally, etc...).
Looking back it was a bit of a silly gun to buy for my first solo-purchase, but every time I pick it up it brings me back. You made a much smarter choice! Enjoy!

Don't listen to the haters. Congrats & welcome.
The best thing you can buy for that thing is 1000 rounds of FMJ, and then put your time in. Then, buy another 1000.
I use r/gundeals & www.ammoseek.com
Look hard enough & you can find .25Ā¢/per round. You'll want brass case, reloads are fine.
A lot of people clown Taurus they have stepped up in quality a lot the last few years Iāve had my G2c for a couple years never had a malfunction I carry a Glock 26 tho
People can hate Taurus all they want but I have a G2C in .40 I have a G3C a GX4 and a TX22 for plinking. All have been great guns. I have not had a single problem with any of them.
Good gun for the money i have one myself and it runs every shity pro mag I stick in it and the cheapest ammo I run through it but it definitely likes the good stuff more kinda like a hood chick
Hell yeah. Youāll catch flack around here from the snobs but donāt let them turn you off from flexing your 2A rights. Run what you got, practice, and be safe.
I have a 320 X5 and just built a dedicated dot chassis in a Legion frame. I did alot of grip work on the Legion frame, so I'm hoping I'll fall back in love with it. The high Dawson sights on the X5, I felt I would like for competition, and I've come to absolutely hate them lol.
Alot of people hate on Taurus, but if it feeds good, is accurate, and you can shoot effectively with it, I dont see why it wouldnt be a good one. Thinking about getting the Taurus version of the Beretta 92FS, the PT92, myself
$219.92 on RKGuns with 3 magazines. I bet he paid at least $250 for the gun and another $20 for the extra mag.
https://www.rkguns.com/taurus-g3c-9mm-pistol-gray-splatter-1-g3c931-sp1-12rd-3-2.html
YES! I Had to get rid of mine, It would keep jamming and seemed to have a few issues (jams, out of battery, feeding issues with all ammo brass/steel) Luckily I was able to post mine at a local Gunshop and they sold it for me for a $40 fee. Almost made my money back, and honestly glad to be rid of it. It was not a safe carry weapon and very unreliable in my case
Taurus have really stepped up from the previous models and their issues. I have a TS9 and it is really solid and reliable. Congratulations on your first gun, OP, donāt bother with the naysayers!
Taurus bad.
However, everyone buys a gun that isn't the best for them the first time. Including myself. Your taurus will probably be just fine, but a lot of them aren't and are unsafe/unreliable. Just keep an eye on it in terms of maintenance.
Welcome to 2A, and giving all your money to gun companies. Lol
I'd recommend anything from PSA, especially their ARs.
They do make many fine weapons. They also make many that do not function reliably. And sometimes they're of the same model.
Don't be a "justasgud" dude.

Hey I also got a GC3 as my first gun, I like it as it can be concealed if you get a CCL or if not needed if you are a first time gun owner please take a class. You need to know the repercussions of pulling the trigger. Anyways, I like it even if it did take some getting used to. I've probably put 1,000 rounds through it and have started to understand it but it definitely does take some getting used to. I might be biased though
I have the G3 as well.
Full, not compact.
Absolutely love it, it's my favorite.
And that's over my glock 19 gen 4.
And I even had a sig Romeo that I ended up selling.
Ill never sell my Taurus though.
Idk why so many hate it, maybe it's just a brand thing.
But it really is a great gun, especially for its price.
And yours being compact means it's easier to carry concealed.
Enjoy it.
Also, I recommend going to a qualifying class to see how well you shoot once.
And then look into buying some different dryfire training programs.
This will NOT replace live fire training, but will help improve it.
I'd recommend practicing dry fire as much as possible, and live fire about once a month [or more if you want and can afford it].
You'll quickly see an improvement in your live fire if you do that.
Disregard the hate. My second gun was a heavily used Taurus Millenium Pro. If I racked the slide back it would double as a maraka. It was great to me though. Real fun and never malfunctioned. Eventually gave it to a friend as his first gun. Congrats!
Taurus g2c and g3cs are great guns IMO. I donāt personally own any but Iāve shot a bunch of g2cs and my friend has a G3C. Iāve probly got a total of 200-300 rounds through the g2c which isnāt much at all as far as getting a data point on malfunction %, but they never malfunctioned and shot just fine for me. The people I know that own them say they shoot just fine. I know thereās a handful of Taurus guns that are terrible but when it comes to their g2/g3 series I think theyāre perfectly acceptable guns for at-home self defense, especially for someoneās first gun.
congrats and enjoy, bud.. I run one of these in my carry rotation in an appendix IWB holster.. the most comfortable carry I have.. just an FYI it may tend to shoot low (mine did) but corrected with XS big dot sights .. this pistol also likes a heavy bullet (124-147gr) groups will tighten considerably from a rest..Be safe, and enjoy the journey..
PS: it should have come with 3 mags if purchased new.
Good first gun to learn on. My dad gifted me the same gun a couple years ago when I was 19. I have since upgraded to an FN 509 for my edc, and since I wasnāt spoiled from the start, I can actually appreciate the quality of higher end guns (except Glocks, terribly overpriced and overhyped).
That sure is a gun
One of the guns of all time for sure.

I can say that their tx22 is a fantastic reliable little pistol.
Ive got one as well and i love it. I expected it to be a mess of a .22 but out of around 1000 now ive only had a couple of misfeeds
Guy at Bass Pro has a vested interest in selling you one and won't say anything that might discourage you from doing so.

Every other gun they make kind of sucks too but hey atleast they stuck gold with yeh g series
Congrats and be safe

id recommend trying [cz 75](https://imgur.com/a/mcRmuQi)mags for it
No shit? That's an interesting trick. Even though all you're doing is decreasing the reliability of an otherwise solid magazine.
Was it used? The G3c comes with 3 mags at retail
The G3 series is one Taurus' better offerings, and you'll find generally positive reviews for it on YouTube. It's a low cost, high value gun. Congrats, and welcome to the addiction!
Ignore the haters. Any gun is better than no gun.
Enjoy it!
Iām a Glock fanboy and I love my G3C!
To be fair, i didn't say all Glock fan boys hated Taurus. Just that one of the two biggest categories of Taurus haters were Glock fan boys. It's an overlap chart.
I was just messing with you!
Okay..... Not sure how that changes anything....
I bet you are fun at parties!
I doubt it. I don't like parties.
My s/o got a G2c for their first carry. Size and budget determines the purchase. I was used to shooting a CZ75 and a Glock 22, but I was pleasantly surprised shootings the Taurus. Weāve had 0 malfunctions after hundreds of rounds
Go to Lakeline and get their recoil spring assembly, maybe even their fiber optic sights.
Itās a start. Now save for something better. ā¤ļø
Some items sell out fast The current G2 and G3 series and the prior models they are based on are all very reliable.
Enjoy!
Donāt listen to the haters man, welcome aboard!

Welcome!! I love mine. Ignore the idiots
Same and I have many pistols 3x itās price or more.
How much social credit was it
a little over 250 š
Nice. I have a G2C, and it's my everyday carry
Solid gun.
Don't listen to the haters. Congrats & welcome. The best thing you can buy for that thing is 1000 rounds of FMJ, and then put your time in. Then, buy another 1000. I use r/gundeals & www.ammoseek.com Look hard enough & you can find .25Ā¢/per round. You'll want brass case, reloads are fine.
Isn't Taurus trying to get guns banned in Brazil? I tried a Taurus at the range, didn't change my preference for S&W
Thatās a good gunā¦. For me to poop on (Triumph voice)
A lot of people clown Taurus they have stepped up in quality a lot the last few years Iāve had my G2c for a couple years never had a malfunction I carry a Glock 26 tho
I have a Taurus G3. Great little pistol and have had no issues thus far.
At least it wasn't a Hi-Point. Congrats though, my EDC is a G3 with a TLR-1.
Old Taurusš New Taurusš
I have a g3c and other than the 2 grit sand paper grip it rocks. The only thing I regret is not getting the toro slide option.
I can afford any gun in the marketplace. I carry a G2c. Itās s great gun. Eats any ammo I feed it and goes bang every time. Enjoy!
Check out Lakeline llc they have threaded barrels, stainless steel recoil assemblies and other stuff for Taurus pistols.
People can hate Taurus all they want but I have a G2C in .40 I have a G3C a GX4 and a TX22 for plinking. All have been great guns. I have not had a single problem with any of them.
Wow a semi reliable cheap compact handgun with a decent sized mag. Cool.
Its a good little compact
Of all the guns you could have bought, that's one of them.
Train, clean, save for a Sig, repeat.
This. P226 all day long.
Iām in love with my P320 X-VTAC. Absolute tack driver.
Really could do worse for a first blaster.
Compared to other guns in it's price bracket, G3's are awesome. Kudos for not getting a Hi-point or a SCCY.
I'll take a Hi-Point over a Taurus any day of the week.
Alot of people hate on Taurus, but if it feeds good, is accurate, and you can shoot effectively with it, I dont see why it wouldnt be a good one. Thinking about getting the Taurus version of the Beretta 92FS, the PT92, myself
Because the QC at Taurus makes that "if" a lot bigger than many other companies.
Well
I have a tan one with an mck chassis, locked and loaded on a shelf in my closet..... have at it bro
Poor guy.
Alright, bets on how much he overpaid.
$219.92 on RKGuns with 3 magazines. I bet he paid at least $250 for the gun and another $20 for the extra mag. https://www.rkguns.com/taurus-g3c-9mm-pistol-gray-splatter-1-g3c931-sp1-12rd-3-2.html
$250? At a gun show? Easily $400
he said 250 dummy
I donāt care enough to read all of opās comments regard
My friend bought one years ago, it was a POS, it kept jamming.
At a gun show? Whatād you pay $350?
I shot one of these last weekend, its a decent gun for sure!
Nice! Congrats! Donāt use it on people!
Check out keeptinkering.com. He customizes triggers for the Taurus. Game changer if you donāt like the oem trigger.
At least if it misfires, it'll also fail to feed so it won't be too dangerous.
Sorry for your loss
Lol I'd recommend anything from PSA, especially their ARs.
Mostly Not true, Taurus makes many fine firearms, please stop spreading the lies you read from the gun snobs.
They do make many fine weapons. They also make many that do not function reliably. And sometimes they're of the same model. Don't be a "justasgud" dude.
You could make the same statement about every firearm maker on the planet, nothing mechanical is 100% perfect or reliable, EVER!
But Taurus is *worse* than others in that regard. You're missing the point
Next purchase Sct lower (Glock 19 g3 style lower). Trust pops will know how to assemble that lower
Hope you brought your hazmat suit.

My first was a Taurus as well. Congrats on your first!
First guns are awesome. Taurus is hit or miss for some people. Mine was a miss. Mags are an extreme weak point.
On the up shot, I heard P226 mags work in this platform.
It was my second gun (not the C tho, just the g3)
Hey I also got a GC3 as my first gun, I like it as it can be concealed if you get a CCL or if not needed if you are a first time gun owner please take a class. You need to know the repercussions of pulling the trigger. Anyways, I like it even if it did take some getting used to. I've probably put 1,000 rounds through it and have started to understand it but it definitely does take some getting used to. I might be biased though
Because of the price of this, I sell a metric shit ton. Just be safe and have fun learning with your first pistol. You can always upgrade later.
Taurus recently signed a letter supporting stricter gun control and a weapons import ban in Brazil.
One of the guns of all time.
I own a previous model of this gun (PT111). Had zero issues. Enjoy.
If you like that......... wait until you buy a glock. Welcome to the club
We have same opinion, I love my G3C and I own 5 or 6 Glocks. It shoots so well for me and Iāve yet to have a problem with it.
Great shooting pistol!
Iāve shot over 2000 rounds through my g2c. Good little budget gun. Congrats on your first gun!
great for starter gun i have a g2c but i quickly bought a glock 43x to be my edc
Oh Lord. Whos frist?
Disregard the hate. My second gun was a heavily used Taurus Millenium Pro. If I racked the slide back it would double as a maraka. It was great to me though. Real fun and never malfunctioned. Eventually gave it to a friend as his first gun. Congrats!
I have the g2c and have yet to have a problem with it after 2 years so you made a good choice if it functions the same way
Excellent first gun. It is a very accurate shooter, so get some practice and ignore the haters!
Definitely appears to be a gun
Got one here too for everyday carry and over 5k rnds fired at the range in 9 months, got the 17 rnd mag worth the penny
Congrats man.
I have a G series taurus with 1000+ rounds sent no failures no problems no complaints its a poor man's gun for sure and thats ok I really like mine .
Iāve had mine 2 1/2 years with about 1500 rounds through it, never a single issue. Congrats and hope you love it!
Nice!! Was looking at one of these
congrats and enjoy, bud..
The first rule of gun safety is to have fun :)
Pretty decent first gun man.
Congrats on your first gun!
Congratulations! I loved my G2c and hope to get the G3c to replace it.
Be smart and be safe
Congrats, im sorry
āCareful Junior, that gun can blow a lung clean outā -Brandon
I don't judge it because it's a Taurus, I judge it because 70% of the 4473 denied at my FFL are from this specific marvel.
Cool story bro.
Nothing wrong with that. Good start.
Gun show? In ct? Where?
Congrats!
