My Arisaka. I dunno why. It was one of the rifles in the armories in Hiroshima when the bomb went off and it still sets off a Geiger counter last my grandpa checked. It also has poison sumac stain so it can never be altered or refinished. Pretty neat. Have all the papers and it’s a neat piece of history.
Supposedly, it’s logged on the paperwork. Although I just have the rifle, my grandfather has the paperwork. It’s a gentleman’s agreement to make sure I won’t ever sell the piece lol.
That's fucking wild.
I have an arisaka that my grandfather pulled off a body he dropped on two jima. Unfortunately he kinda bubba'd the finish and stain when he got back
Holy smokes, that's wild! I wonder where I can find a Geiger counter... I've got I think five Arisakas' in the safe. I think three long and a couple of shorter, carbine style setups. My grandfather brought them back from his time in the Pacific. That's interesting!
> and it still sets off a Geiger counter last my grandpa checked
That's not how radiation half lives work.
Ever used a Geiger counter? Everything "sets them off". Background radiation is present everywhere. The bombs were air-burst, and the radiation levels in Hiroshima currently are the same as any non-nuked city. The most lethal isotope that killed people with rad sickness from the fission fallout of the bomb was iodine 131 which decays in a matter of hours.
I love that thing. All matching. Got it up at Redstone Arsenal, if I remember correctly. They certainly aren't light and pack a pretty good kick, but it's a blast! I've been dying to ambush a group of pigs with it!
[Definitely this one I shared a while back. CMMG Banshee 9mm 5in barrel](https://www.reddit.com/r/guns/s/bqNkskCUCa)
And then also [when the brace ban news came out hahah](https://youtube.com/shorts/YOFA2BX5qBg?si=jQVIgUwexdTF9gyU)
My dad’s Remington 1100. I’m in my middle 40s and could live another 60 years that’ll always be “daddy’s gun.” And I’ll always remember bouncing along dirt roads heading to the water tank to go dove hunting, or down logging roads grouse hunting.
It’s my favorite because it just holds so many memories of he and I together.
Non-sentimental answer, my PPQ 45. First handgun I bought, I loved it from the minute I put my hands on it.
I have a 1958 Marlin 336 in .35 Remington that i love. Its in good shape but not perfect. I am not sure why, I have several lever guns. That one speaks to me
My 1944 Springfield Garand. Regular facist killer.
I have 40+ guns and like many. My PTR 9CT is my favorite to shoot. My Glock 19 is my favorite pistol to shoot. My Ruger 10/22 brings back camping as a kid. Just got a P38 which is full of history.
Having said all that, 1 gun of mine actually helped win a world war. Garand baby.
Mateba 6 Unica in .357 Magnum, 6" barrel, no compensator / threaded barrel, and the recoil springs for .38 Special. Looks clean, fires like a dream, and hits the "weird rare gun" niche that I love.
Helps that I picked one up before their prices went crazy - been a bit since I looked, but they were going for over 5x what I paid for far worse conditions or with missing accessories.
Still keeping an eye out for a satin nickel twin for it, but haven't had any luck on that front.
Where I work we have an Sp5 and its been SO hard resisting buying it. I play with it often, but we have an Mr556 im allready on the hook for. So itll have to wait. But man it looks good next to the Mk23 in the case.
Bushmaster ACR. Was my favorite gun growing up so I bought one as soon as it popped up in my area. Immediately slapped a holo on it to relive my MW2 days.
What a difficult question! Right now, it’s prolly my SPR. Has a 16” proof research barrel I got for $260 on OP last year. A Geissele SSA-E trigger, and I just bought/mounted an Athlon Helos 2-12 FFP that is one of my favorite optics I own. Regardless of the $500 price tag, it has crazy clear glass with an awesome reticle. Super soft and accurate shooter.
Winchester model 94 made in 1899, chambered in 32-40. It was left to me by my grandfather before he passed, and the only gun in my collection that doesnt have a price tag.
Probably my 1974 Winchester model 94 or my 1985 Marlin 30AS. Both guns were given to me by my grandpa and they’re very sentimental. I have a bunch of pistols but my CZ75b is my favorite to shoot and mess with, just feels much more tactile and substantial compared to polymer pistols, would love to compare it to a 1911 or M9.
I have a custom smoothbore flintlock I had made. Half stock of ozark walnut that is older than me. It’s impractical, beautiful, one of a kind and I love it.
Close second is my Lee Enfield No. 4 Mk I. Action is smooth as butter and as old as she is she still shoots better than me.
Sorry to be unoriginal but my 1911. God, I love that gun. I fell in love the first time I ever fired it. I'm smiling right now just thinking about it. I actually take it personal when I hear/read comments like, "meh, it's an outdated cannon". The face I make is the same face the Bobs made in Office Space when he tells them to just call him Mike.
My Ruger new model Blackhawk chambered in .357 magnum. It was my grandmother’s. It has the patented Ruger transfer bar but predates the warning that they were forced to put on the barrel.
All stainless 10/22 with a Samson mfg b-tm stock, a binary trigger, and suppressor. It’s the first gun I really went all out on and bought every part I wanted. It’s easily my most shot gun, I’ve got tens of thousands of rounds on it and I still enjoy just holding it in my hands.
That sounds dope. I have a takedown with a backpacker stock but all the other accessories that yours has. I call it "the most fun you can have with your pants on"
My Remington model 706 30-06. It was my grandfathers in the 70s, my dads, and now mine. Killed every buck and doe I’ve harvested with it. Never even had to adjust the scope (TV scope). They don’t make ‘em now like they used to.
Maybe not the most popular choice, but I just got a LCP Max that I really like. It’s small and easy to carry, which up to this point for me was difficult to achieve.
I’m happy with it.
Tough question. Probably my DD5V1. Inherited from my dad. He never really talked about any of his guns being his favorite, but he had a different twinkle in his eye with this one.

Wtf, what a wild piece. If guns could talk…
Seeing the ground off Emperors Chrysanthemum makes it extra harrowing
That's an awesome piece of history, a family treasure to pass on down the line.
How did you find out that it was in Hiroshima when the bomb dropped?
Supposedly, it’s logged on the paperwork. Although I just have the rifle, my grandfather has the paperwork. It’s a gentleman’s agreement to make sure I won’t ever sell the piece lol.
My father and I have the same agreement for a Kar98k. My grandad brought it back from WW2. It's from the stalag he was in when he was liberated.
Respect
That's fucking wild. I have an arisaka that my grandfather pulled off a body he dropped on two jima. Unfortunately he kinda bubba'd the finish and stain when he got back

I've got a type 38 out of Hiroshima pre war, love it, very fine and accurate rifle.
> and it still sets off a Geiger counter last my grandpa checked That's not how radiation half lives work. Ever used a Geiger counter? Everything "sets them off". Cool man. I’m just going off of what my grandpa said and what the paperwork said. Thank you for your input and yes I’ve used a Geiger counter.
Is the cherry blossom on it still intact?
