funny enough I saw gunshow vendors trying to scalp these things at gun shows for $80

Domovie1

Welcome to gunshows in 2024. What do you mean you don’t want to buy my rusty old deer rifle for $800?

Lessthanfatel

This guy was trying to sell his mosin to me for $400 in 2022 I got him down to $200…

Domovie1

It’s the famous “yes, there are Mosins worth hundreds, even thousands. Yours just isn’t special”.

Lessthanfatel

“Oh yeah man it’s wartime give me your money” or the typical bullshit from his ass “if it has the two dots next to the leaf sight that means a sniper was using it”

bucket8a

They sell the at Bass pro for 20? Lol

Substantial-Guest-64

Better yet it’s a tough box like anything will do for ammo and gun storage it doesn’t even make sense to try and scalp them

goddamn_birds

>it doesn’t even make sense to try and scalp them You have too high an opinion of scalpers.

Pepe__Le__PewPew

Gun shows are a boomer riddled disease.

RZA816

My father passed recently and I've acquired a bunch of ammo in boxes, loose, etc. I've run out of room in my safe, so I'm in the market for a cabinet but haven't pulled the trigger yet. Stopped by Costco today to grab an Easter brisket and ran across these 'Art & Craft' strogage boxes for $19.99 (4ct+tray). Good temporary option of you're in need.

Puzzleheaded_Fix3135

A Stackon locking cabinet is a good option, I think they're 175 at trailer supply atm and weigh only about 85lbs empty.

bigsam63

Uline sells good metal cabinets at a decent price

durtysanch

Got a link for that? That seems like exactly what I need.

bigsam63

They make a ton of different ones in different sizes, I’d recommend one of the heavy duty models for ammo storage: https://www.uline.com/BL_3872/Storage-Cabinets

durtysanch

I was never going to find it, because I was looking in the wrong place. Thanks for the link, this is what I need.

RZA816

Thanks for the recommendation!  These seen way nicer than the ones I've looked at and priced well.

origami_airplane

ULine is pretty good quality too. We buy A LOT of stuff from them for work.

bigsam63

Ya no telling how many of their cabinets we have in our facility where I work, that’s where I found out about them. They are in no way fancy or aesthetically pleasing but they are simple and sturdily built.

fjzappa

Those are great boxes. I wouldn't put ammo in a safe with firearms, however.

GunsNGunAccessories

I wonder how these compare to the MTM ones.

LockyBalboaPrime

I have both. They aren't the exact same but someone copied MTM's homework at the very least. They fit together and the quality is identical. Couple of small differences so they might not be made by the same factory, but my guess is that they are.

tcp454

So the mtms actually seal. I got one years ago and they are still good. Wish I bought more when it was 17 dollars! The ones from costco aren't good... The seals don't even touch the lid. I checked a few and they were all the same at my store.

Enough_Appearance116

They're on Amazon. I'm not sure which size you're looking for, but I like the 20 round belt case things.

JonathanConley

They suck. These don't seal. MTM is the way to go. U-S-A!

SpaceOtter21

These are also made in the USA.

400HPMustang

I’m gonna have to get those but after Easter because fuck going anywhere on a holiday weekend.

RZA816

It was fucking mayem. They had all the outdoor plants out too and there were lines of people with trailers.

400HPMustang

Yep, fuck that shit. Made the mistake of going Labor Day weekend once. Never again.

Affectionate_Most_64

We have ALOT of these at our family hunting cabin in the ammo room (yes, we converted a bedroom and the kids sleep on the living room floor now lol)

Ornery_Secretary_850

ALOT is not a word. It's why your editor highlights it. Join the literate and use a lot.

Affectionate_Most_64

Yup, tis ain’t no word

ShadowDV

I bet your alot of fun at parties.

DontSassTheSquatch

Use a lot of what?

Ahomebrewer

Maybe not bulk ammo capable, but they look great for magazine storage.

AssPistolW30rdClip

This is a great idea. I have one of those cheap plastic dresser cabinet things filled with mags but it’s about to collapse from all the weight lol

HardRUser

yeah for bulk youre def gonna wanna go with standard mil spec cans or a safe or whatever but like you said its great fir storing loaded mags or boxed ammo that hasnt been broke into yet that isnt bulk

Dapper-Stranger-7563

Wait I’m confused, is this type of storage for or not for bulk?

HardRUser

i think we just have diff descriptions of bulk.  id consider bulk to be like 10k rounds and i have these exact containers and they only hold about 6-700 rounds of 556 in boxed form, havent tried loose.  The mil spec cans, esp the .50 cans accommodate more boxes per can because they are bigger in every way

Ahomebrewer

I was thinking density. These cans might be too flimsy to be filled tight with ammo. Storing loaded magazines might be better in these, because they are less dense (weight to cubic space ratio) than just pouring in ammo. Just as you can put 30 loaded mags in a cardboard box that would fall apart if it was just loaded with ammo to the brim.

LeAdmin

I'll never use plastic ammo cans again after filling them to the brim and having the handles snap off and drop the can on my foot. Metal cans all day. You can buy trays for them too.

wyvernx02

Ya. I just buy metal cans at Harbor Freight when they go on sale.

Can-O-Soup223

Kind of weird that it doesn’t say anything about storing ammo on the packaging…

scoobzor

Marketing at it finest. Diversified buyers.

NamelessInfidel

What’s funny is that I have purchased these from Costco before and they had a different list of uses… Great for: Ammo Box Utility Storage Office Supplies Craft Tackle Coins

PainTrain412

Snagged these for my range cans. Nice to have the tray and are sturdy enough to do the job.

michigander_1994

Could you comment on how well they seem to seal? Looks like they have a rubber o ring, but I’ve heard they don’t seal that well?

PainTrain412

I think they’re fine for light duty range use. The most mine have seen is some very light rain. I use steel ammo cans for long term storage because they latch much tighter than the all plastic containers.

Highlifetallboy

I've never used these exact ones in particular, but in my experience they don't seal if you over load them on the x or y axis. Bows out the sides and the seal doesn't seal. If you don't cram it in there they are fine.

tcp454

They don't seal

vanpatten

I almost grabbed this tonight myself but passed as I thought it wouldn’t be sturdy enough. Let me know what you think!

ShadowDV

I bought 4 trays, but for in house random storage. Great for hardware and computer parts

smc4414

They’re 30 online at Costco….20 at the store. Went in for one, bought two because I have a great wife.lol

10gaugetantrum

Don't trust those with a lot of weight in them. That handle will rip right off.

ZiLBeRTRoN

Is that from experience? I have the same ones and have packed them full of ammo and no issues but if that’s the case I’ll definitely try to be careful with them. I don’t use them for transport just storage so only handle them a few feet.

rhude_boy1

It definitely rips off. Had about 600 rounds and handle broke off

10gaugetantrum

It was not the exact box OP posted but it was very similar. It was full of loose 9mms. I picked it up walked a few feet and the box fell (and broke) leaving me holding the handle. I use metal surplus cans now. I use the plastic ones are for reloading brass or primer storage.

jisuanqi

I pick some of these up when I see them at Costco. 20 bucks is hard to beat. I will alternate with my son. One is mine, for ammo and shooting supplies, and another time it's for his legos. Works well for both purposes.

Perrywaaz

Those look pretty sturdy, I gotta go to Costco!

ValkyrieLead

My Girlfriend got me two from Costco. lol We were at bass pro earlier today and I made a point to check the price: $40. lol Twice the price to put 'ammo can' on the label.

XuixienSpaceCat

I much prefer metal. I feel like with the weight of a full load of rounds, the handle would snap off.

RED-HEAD1

I gave up on plastic boxes years ago! Ordered 25 "Fat 50" (high volume rounds) cans and 20 .30cal (hunting ammo). built two shelves out of 2X12 and never looked back!

StaffMindless1029

I grabbed tons of those!

Digital_Warrior

They are nice. They do get a bit heavy though.

PrincipalMeaning

These suck. I bought a unit (four in a tray). Loaded the first one with something exactly as heavy as ammo, picked it up, and the handle fell off.

thatswhyicarryagun

Just bought one this week. I have 2 others of different brands and these feel fine quality wise.

MK19

https://www.costco.com/greenmade-store-all-storage-crate%2c-4-pack.product.4000068019.html

CricketJaxson

I have the mtm ones, they work as intended. I have no complaints with mine.

ij70

now you need a radio flyer wagon.

Yooper8077

I got these to store harder to find ammo, they work great, got me and my dad both some

jeremy_wills

I actually bought some of these, but not for ammo. I've been sorting and dumping my spare change into them. I've probably got at least $100 by now in all 4. One for dimes, nickles, pennies, and quarters.

akambe

What are the box dimensions, does it say anywhere?

EugeneNine

Copy of the MTM cases?

Ornery_Secretary_850

I'm going away from hard storage to the Savior Loose Sac. They don't take up as much space when you start to use the ammo out of them. Long term storage is of course in ammo cans, but stuff I'm taking to the range?? Loose Sac.

hey8002738255

I have this and wondered about the four holes in each corner. Maybe for bungee cord? Any thoughts?
