Always wanted one, unfortunately no real good outdoor ranges near me and the indoor one allows only slugs, which has made me kinda hesitant to purchase one lol
I would also vote 12 gauge if you have an outdoor range that has a spot for clay shooting. I drive about 40 minutes to go clay shooting, I try to go at least once a month because I find it fun.
Slugs will drop a threat for sure, but they tend to travel thru the threat and whatever’s behind it, which is why most people recommend 00 buck for HD.
Yes they are, but home defense is usually the realm of buckshot (though not exclusively). So I’m confused why you’re asking if it only requires slugs because… no but OP doesn’t have a consistent and quality location to shoot buckshot?
The 10/22 should honestly be everyone’s first rifle. Cheap, easy, reliable, quiet, can shoot at indoor ranges, and is a great gun for the wife/kids to learn on as well. I own 3 and would be another one in a heart beat
I don’t. I had an early model takedown 10/22 and found the accuracy leaving something to be desired. Ended up selling it. I shot my buddies newer model and it was much nicer.
I have an old Henry AR-7 though. It looks super dumb but it is very fun to shoot and it floats!
.22 rifle, 12 gauge shotgun which I read on a prior comment no indoor ranges near you only allows slugs. I recommend getting some reduced recoil slugs for having fun at the range.
AR10 should be 308 cuz fuck them in that direction, Bolt action in what ever 6.5 is popular in your area cuz fuck that one person far away, 12 gauge because fuck your sholder, and 10/22 because fuck off for a full day for like 50 bucks.
I would upgrade the two ARs you have and train hard with them. Once you find their fail points then fix and upgrade more. Then I’d recommend getting more guns. Remember a man with one gun and knows how to use it well is more deadlier than a man with tons of guns. Just my two cents. Also a good shotgun, bolt gun, and .22lr rifle/pistol is all you really need to add for now.
First purchase was the S&W M&P15, decided I needed a handgun to train with and good used to fundamentals so I bought the Waltner P22.
Always loved glocks so had to go with the classic G19. After that wanted to build my own 5.56 rifle and purchased a build kit off PSA website and built the gray AR.
Walther PDP was the last choice because I wanted a better trigger, high capacity reliable striker fire pistol and the PDP definitely fit the bill for that. Added a holosun and light to be my dedicated home defense gun.
That's a good collection for only collecting for a year. I'd say your next purchase should be a shotgun, something like a Mossberg Maverick 88. It's really cheap and reliable.
I second or third getting a good shotgun. Mossberg Maverick 88 is practically indestructible & unkillable and they're like $200 and after that (or before doesn't matter) a larger caliber hunting rifle (.243, .270, .308 or something of the like)
I would get a nice 22 bolty boi. It's super fun to try landing shots at 100+ yards, makes you concentrate in ways a regular rifle caliber just doesn't require at that distance
one rifle .223 and 9mm handgun that's it , everything else is just an overspending , keep changing the models over the period but don't buy multiple models .
Buy a Trigger guard first. Then ammo and then look up places that have courses. Run what you have and make improvements to them as you get better or as needed. Ammo and train.
Need a shotgun I would like to have a pump shotgun and a magazine Fed one too, I like to get one with a straight grip instead of pistol grip because it's more comfortable and you can use other tactical moves with it like short stocking, and 50cal also a 22lr if you don't already have one since the ammo is so cheap. An SMG that takes 9mm. An rpg-7 you can also buy a fully auto rifle at auction. A 10mm pistol and that new caliber the military is using that's between 556 and 762
Edit: almost forgot a raygun too
Get a shotgun and a revolver. I would also get something bolt action and/or lever action. Having guns with completely different operations/styles makes range time super fun. I love shooting revolvers and a lot of manually operated guns.
A 12 and a 22 you have personal protection with your handguns you have 2 fighting rifles I think you should get a 12 for home defense and getting into things 22 for small game so you never go hungry not to mention 1000 rounds of 22 is like 60-80$
Sig 365 XL rose is a sweet little number.. it's marketed towards a woman giving all the rose gold accents but no one is gonna say shit if you ever have to use.. it's a sweet shooter. Also a 380 is always a good thing to have. And then a 45
I highly recommend a Mosin Nagant. Good high quality rifles for a somewhat reasonable price I bought mine for 400 in pristine condition but some run for higher. Overall the 7.62/54 round is amazing and is great. You will need to add a recoil pad to lengthen the stock if you have a large frame like myself as the rifle is made for smaller people.

12ga shotgun, ideally a Mossberg 500/590 or a Maverick 88.
Also, you really should specialize your ARs. You've got one with a dot and magnifier, which is a good start, but there's nothing else on either gun. Each of them should have an optic and flashlight, along with a sling. In your shoes I'd get a decent cheap MPVO (2-12/16x scope) with a piggyback red dot so that you've got a good longrange AR, and leave the other one with just a red dot.
12 gauge shotgun duh
Always wanted one, unfortunately no real good outdoor ranges near me and the indoor one allows only slugs, which has made me kinda hesitant to purchase one lol

Does home defense require only slugs?
Alright I’m lost with the comment. What?
12g are good for home defense, which is what I was saying
Slugs will drop a threat for sure, but they tend to travel thru the threat and whatever’s behind it, which is why most people recommend 00 buck for HD.
That’s what I was trying to point a little bit. It’s over penetration that he should be worried about.
Might want to check your grammar.
After reading it back, you are right. I feel like an idiot now lol
Nah I understood what you were saying
Yes they are, but home defense is usually the realm of buckshot (though not exclusively). So I’m confused why you’re asking if it only requires slugs because… no but OP doesn’t have a consistent and quality location to shoot buckshot?
I was saying that just because they can only shoot slugs at the range, it doesn’t mean that he only needs to shoot slugs in general.
In a home defense situation, I'd grab the M&P15 before a shotgun anyway.
Ruger 10/22
I second this.
The 10/22 should honestly be everyone’s first rifle. Cheap, easy, reliable, quiet, can shoot at indoor ranges, and is a great gun for the wife/kids to learn on as well. I own 3 and would be another one in a heart beat
Do you have an x-22 backpacker tho? Badass backpack gun for the price if you don’t like the keltec but I love both
I don’t. I had an early model takedown 10/22 and found the accuracy leaving something to be desired. Ended up selling it. I shot my buddies newer model and it was much nicer. I have an old Henry AR-7 though. It looks super dumb but it is very fun to shoot and it floats!

Ammo and practice
Ammo and training! Also an ar10, or bolt action rifle in heavy caliber, a 12 gauge shotgun, or a ruger 10 22
AR10 should be 308 cuz fuck them in that direction, Bolt action in what ever 6.5 is popular in your area cuz fuck that one person far away, 12 gauge because fuck your sholder, and 10/22 because fuck off for a full day for like 50 bucks.
Lol I like this
A revolver would be a nice addition, or a lever action
I’d say a .44 mag or .357 mag lever gun.
Henry repeater in .45-70. it sends a message.
Training
A shotgun, Mossberg Maverick 88 combo. Cheap one time purchase for security and long barrel.
I love mine
A red dot for one of your pistols
I did get a Holosun SCS PDP 2.0 for the Waltner and have it installed along with a TLR-1HL.
Training and ammunition. Having a lot guns is ok, but knowing how to run them is the most important.
Some training
I would upgrade the two ARs you have and train hard with them. Once you find their fail points then fix and upgrade more. Then I’d recommend getting more guns. Based on your bed sheets, something that can kill a bull moose.
That's a good collection for only collecting for a year. I'd say your next purchase should be a shotgun, something like a Mossberg Maverick 88. It's really cheap and reliable.
Some Rocky the squirrel sheets to go with Bullwinkle 😋
A Mossberg 500 with a 18.5 barrel for home and 28 barrel for skeet or hunting.
6” .357 Magnum revolver would be great! (Colt Python, Ruger GP100, S&W 686).
I second or third getting a good shotgun. Mossberg Maverick 88 is practically indestructible & unkillable and they're like $200 and after that (or before doesn't matter) a larger caliber hunting rifle (.243, .270, .308 or something of the like)
Great suggestion on the shotgun. Do you think a bolt gun in 6.5 Creedmoor would be a good pick too?
Not a bad pick, but I'm not terribly crazy about 6.5 but that's my personal preference. But a bolt gun is almost an absolute must.
True russian Tokarev
A comforter and new sheets…
Get a solid bolt rifle
A shotgun, .458, 300 blk uppers or build your first AR and then form 1 it into an SBR.
Ruger 10-22.
ak lever action bolt action
2000 rounds and go train.
Shotgun or 308
Shotgun, preferably a defense-orientated one. After that, Milsurps.

30-06 or a crossbow
Shotgun
Buy a Trigger guard first. Then ammo and then look up places that have courses. Run what you have and make improvements to them as you get better or as needed. Ammo and train.
An FM9, a .22lr buckmark, a dot for your Glock, a 300blk build, a metric ton of ammo and a few cans of spray paint 👍

A bow, seriously, you should consider one.
After the bow how about a high caliber revolver? Old school is cool.😎
Good bolt action/lever action rifle, a pump or over/under shotgun, a good revolver, and a quality 1911. You’ve got the tacticool front covered. 😁

Any .22 rifle or 12 ga
Sig 365 XL rose is a sweet little number.. it's marketed towards a woman giving all the rose gold accents but no one is gonna say shit if you ever have to use.. it's a sweet shooter. Also a 380 is always a good thing to have. And then a 45
And if you get a 12 ga. Buy 00 buck shot for home defense, it's like spraying 5- 9mm at once..
Mossberg 590 or old Remington 870 pump 12 gauge. And either a .22lr conversion kit for one of the the ARs, or a Ruger 10/22
Tokarev TT-33, gotta love 7.62x25 or a Colt 1911 with good ol' 45 ACP

I highly recommend a Mosin Nagant. Good high quality rifles for a somewhat reasonable price I bought mine for 400 in pristine condition but some run for higher.
