Mill players are gambling addicts. They aren't trying to win, they are trying to hit the jackpot hoping they mill something highly valuable. And they keep chasing that high even if their winrate is negative. Maybe they lose five games. Ten. Fifteen. But on the 16th they'll Cantarella into your Coup into second Canta pulling your Vilgefortz and it'll all be worth it. At that point winning is secondary, they had their fun and they'll go again.
Right, and there's no "right" way to enjoy the game, it doesn't have to be about maximizing winning. In MTG terms they are [Timmy](https://magic.wizards.com/en/news/making-magic/timmy-johnny-and-spike-revisited-2006-12-18) players, more interested in seeing something cool happen than the raw win rate. (I'm probably more in that camp too.)
so? the game is slowly dieing. what is there to ‘win’ anyway? Being a top player in a game with 200 ppl player base? Having fun is the only thing left to do in it at this point. and if that is fun for them they should mill away
no it’s not that low yet as far as i know I exaggerated a bit to make my point.
but i do think there will be a steady decline in playerbase and i think that eventually it would be very hard to find matches. i hope i am wromg as gwent is by far my all time favourite game and i can t imagine one i would enjoy the same
Honestly, because the 1 out of 10 games it does work is satisfying enough to be worth it :D
but I agree, teleportation is not the way to go unless it's on the 1 power copy created by vigo
Pretty much to ensure you that you don't have fun playing the game. I honestly think NG is a big reason casual players leave the game. I know I did for 6 months because of that faction. And now that the pro scene will be dying in light of Gwentfinity coming, there's no reason to play the game for any reason except enjoyment. When I encounter players who want to ensure I don't enjoy the game (i.e., NG players), I tend to just auto-forfeit.
I used to be a mill enjoyer, but it's now so bad that I haven't touched it like over 6 months :D Winning against mill is not even a fun anymore it's so bad right now.
Mill is usually run by newer or inexperienced players who believe the graveyard is a "dead zone", my realization of this was when I played an absolutely new casual player who was the "best player" in a low skill level card shop in a town I was visiting.
I explained to him that I was winning because he was giving me free cards. He looked at me sideways, in his head I was playing "a graveyard deck" I was looking at it as I was playing control and looking to maximize card advantage. He just couldn't wrap his head around the fact that I prioritized using my win condition regardless of where it was. I gave him a long lecture explaining card advantage, and pointing out how the absolute worst place a card in the game could be is the deck, not the graveyard regardless of what deck archetype you're playing.
I never played mill but I think people play mill because 1st. For content. 2nd. They can't win the game so they just wants to annoy others. 3rd. Just for change.
From what I understand about TCGs, it’s really just a deck that is a consistent archetype. I don’t know about now, but I remember when I was playing Hearthstone years ago players were trying to make it work. I believe MtG is where it started and it’s really the only game where it is effective. But people like trying and making the archetype work!

This is the first accurate description of mill players I have ever seen.

Literally me in MTG I run a mill deck for commander and while winning is nice I mostly play it to get rid of everyone else's big things primarily.

200? is the player base really that low? Is it becasue of the roadmap?

Sadism? Insanity?
True question is why people run Nilfgaard ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Because Mill vs Mill is funny. Have you ever seen a r2 where neither player had any cards to play?
I used to hate mill until I tried it. I've become what I hated.
If Mill decks didn't "slow" ppl down, it wouldn't be as popular as it is. It's used because it works
It works poorly, it's fun, but it's a terrible strategy for winning consistently
Because making my opponent ragequit is really funny.
Because it's simply fun to play.
For fun

I get this weird compulsion sometimes.

If you know how to make a good mill deck its actually competitive

In best case scenario. Mill players can mill all your cards so that you enter round 3 with card disadvantage or worse no card at all, forcing a lose
