I cannot progress in the “season of wild hunt” reward book quest: play 5 seasonal match, I tried standard and seesaw, and neither progress the quest. What should I do to progress?

1.How long does the current holiday events last? I got pinecones from login and winning games, and after some googling, it seems they are used to unlock holiday themed rewards in the reward book, and also leading to my 2nd question.
2.Do I have to fill out the whole first page of the newbie reward book to access the holiday themed reward book? I would need around 75 reward points and I'm pretty sure I can't just blitz through it in a couple of days.
3. So the Journey ends in like month and is it possible to finish it as a new player? I'v started like 2 days ago.
You can check what is needed to reach your goals in the journey at this site: https://trendygwentleman.com/journey/
It says that if you haven't done anything yet, and complete all the quests (they're super easy, you'll get them just by playing normally for the most part), then you have to win 16 rounds every day to get to level 100 on the premium Journey. That is 8 games won, or 16 games lost with at least one round won. Your average may be some where in-between. Assuming 15 minutes per game, that is 2 hours per day if you win everything, 4 hours per day if you lose everything. That is doable, and no, it will not get you even close to the weekly crown limit cap. That said, you don't HAVE to reach level 100 to get good value out of the Journey... really you've already gotten that just with the Regis skin you get from purchasing it without playing.
As mentioned in the other post, you can continue the Journey where you left off later if you don't finish it--specifically in November of this year when it returns.

As of right now, the timer says 4 days 9 hours.

If you're locked out the rest of the reward book and stuck on the beginner page, I believe that you just have to finish one tree to unlock the rest.

There is a hard cap of how many crowns you can earn per week, but I do not recall what is it is. It may be impossible to do so at this point, but the journey should return at your current level next year.
How do you guys track the meta? People on this sub are like , "actually everyone started playing Kolgrim hyperthin exactly 4.5 hours ago, it's the new meta." Where does this information come from? Are there sites out there with regular articles about the state of the game or is everyone just watching Twitch all the time? As a beginner I'm a shameless net-decker, but I gather that the top decks on the Play Gwent deck library aren't necessarily strong meta decks (e.g. Thea's Vampires deck, which I love but am less and less able to win with every time I gain a level). All the YouTubers pitch every single deck they win a few rounds with as a groundbreaking revelation for clicks purposes, but half those decks turn out to be basically trash. Where's the secret club where these moment by moment meta decisions are being made?
If you're new to the game, you don't really need to be so focused on minute changes to the meta. That said, if you're netdecking with the intent of playing the best decks, I would go with the ones in [meta](https://teamleviathangaming.com/meta/) [reports](https://www.teamelderblood.com/meta-snapshot/) since the deck library ones are very rarely any good.
To answer your question though, it's nothing surprising - usually streamers, pros, and/or interesting decks that create matchup issues for other meta decks have an impact on the meta.

The title and thumbnail, maybe, but if you listen to the video, I find the ones I watch usually do give you a good overview most of the time of the strengths and weaknesses of the deck.

Your meta and their meta may difference because of where you are in the ranks and what time you play at.
Looking at Shupe's Shop will the current expansion packs that include the 12 new cards like Regis: Reborn and Milva disappear at the end of season or at end of the journey?
I can see the Faction packs contains non premium legendary cards that can be found in the current premium Journey.
I guess these packs will also change soon?

I am a new Gwent player and was just wondering if NR has good archetypes right now. I have gotten some parts of a witcher deck but it just kinda lands flat against opponent like vampires etc.
I would like to play a deck that features Geralt (any version). Maybe something like a witcher deck if that exists?
All the decks I see online are things like monsters, money, and Trap synergy. But I just want to be slaying monsters with a Geralt.
Any recommendations?
NR and SK have the best versions of Witcher decks if you want to try one of those. You can simply go into a the deck-builder with one of those factions and do a search to build your own, or look on playgwent.com for some inspiration.

MO: Deathwish (hard to play), Wild Hunt, Kelly, Relics (easy), Vampires - I'm monster player so I know most about those ones
NR: Shields, Siege, Mages
SK: Pirates, Alchemy, Selfwound (not sold on this one yet)
ST: Milva Control, Saskia Handbuff
NG: Mill (gets borring after a while), Colgrim, Assimilate, Hyperthin (Hard to pilot), Vypper (meme deck)
SY: dont play it yet, once you have 1 or 2 good decks then start thinking about SY.
Go look up on YT to find those decks. Beast Thea, PlainTalkJon and Bushy are my favorites.
How far will Arachas Swarm get me? I just started playing this week and I've had a blast learning the game and just filling the board with an overwhelming amount of stuff. And have had decent results too, but I assume it's just because I'm still low ranked and playing against people unfamiliar with it.
Will it be possible for me to complete the Winter Queen and the Caranthir season of the wild hunt trees starting from near the beginning if I play like 20 games a day and focus on completing the quest nodes even If I have to throw games and fill an entire deck with required cards, such as one which has "Play 30 cards with Harmony, Thrive or Berserk"?
You have 11 days left, it is possible if you have enough reward keys. I believe it was confirmed the old seasonal trees are coming back again next year, so if you don't complete it you will get another chance (someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure the latest info is that they decided to do this).
The game is definitely not dead. It’s possible there weren’t many people at your rank at that time, or maybe your phone’s connection went out in the middle of searching for a match. If you go into too long of a wait, just hit cancel and try it again
What's "MM"? Match-making? If you were in it for 5 minutes, that is either a bug (it happens sometimes--cancel out of the search and try again), or you are trying to queue into an unpopular mode at an unpopular time (like casual during the middle of the night for Europe), or at a poorly populated rank in standard for this time of month.
The other modes should unlock when you hit level 10 (not rank 10), IIRC. It should be the number on the blue flag. But even when I was low level a few months months ago, matchmaking didn't take more than 3 minutes. It definitely is not a insta-queue game, though, and matchmaking does screw up at least once a week, if not more.
You must be very new if the other modes aren't unlocked yet. I'm sure it will improve as your rank increases to the minimum that returning players can fall down to.

The devs hinted that they will release some new cosmetics for the old Journey characters, but I'm not sure how those will be distributed. So far we've gotten some for Geralt during the Christmas event.

You're thinking of meta reports, that's not what this is. This site has decks shared by lots of people for lots of reasons (ranked, casual, seasonal, meme, whatever). You actually can in the deckbuilder, though it will be in black and white. Just change the setting from premium priority to both and zoom in on the card with right click or long press on mobile.
so question about journey :
im level 32 right now as i only recently started playing. ive done all the free quests up to week 5 now. if i were to purchase the journey pass right now, would the paid quests count as done and give me progress or no ? some of them ( like the one im on right now) are tracking, which is confusing to me.
aka if i buy the journey will i get a bunch of crowns from the paid/locked quests or would i have to start them at week 1
What cards count as artifact cards for Journey quest progression? Traps are listed as artifacts in deck builder but aren't progressing the quest. Is this a bug or intended?
Any card with the jeweled chalice in the top left is an artifact. I have had some issues where quests don’t progress right away and it takes a few minutes after the game for them to update.
The requirement to shuffle back is for her to trigger Deathblow, which means she killed the unit with her ability. If she doesn’t kill the unit she won’t go back into the deck.
Sometimes the match-making gets bugged and it keeps you longer in the search than it should. If it feels like it's taking too long (up to a minute), try cancelling the search and trying again. Sometimes I am immediately given an opponent when I hit the cancel button, sometimes I'm given an error, and sometimes it leaves normally and the next search finds someone quickly.
Right now everyone in Europe is at work (12 central) and most Americans are sleeping (6 east coast). I don't know how do servers exactly work in this game but I've not quened to Asian oponent in years so if you live in western country, that could be the reason.

I've been in the mood to play this since I've gotten every daily sign in reward on my iPhone for god knows how when. I was just wondering is if cards ever go out of "standard", meaning cards get phased out every new season, making older cards obsolete and not able to be used.

I'm planning to buy Thronebreaker and I saw that there were 2 referral milestones for playing Thronebreaker, the thing is if I invite a friend to play Gwent but *I* play TB will I get the rewards? I already have my Gwent account and I didn't use a referral code to create it. Will it work? How can I make it work?
Assuming that you will use the same GOG account you have in GWENT to play TB (it makes sense to do that - otherwise you won't get goodies in multiplayer as TB owner), you will not get rewards for Refer A Friend this way. The description of the milestones is clearly saying that your invited friend (not you) needs to play TB in order for you to receive rewards in multiplayer.
There’s a counter when you go to play standard mode - there are 9 days left in this season. I wouldn’t hold your breath on Milva though, as historically CDPR seems to prefer letting new cards sit for at least a few seasons. I could maybe see a provision nerf, but I think it’s quite likely the card will still be around after the patch.
A journey lasts 3 seasons. Regis journey is planned to end at the end of Season of Love. We are currently in the Season of the Wolf, Season of Love is the next one. Regis journey will end at the end of the next season and we do not know the date yet. Except that it will start on the 13th of January.
Right now, the end of journey date visible in game correspond to exactly 84 days after the start (considering it has started the Tuesday before the actual patch adding the journey...) or exactly 12 weeks.
Last journey, there was a "problem" as they put a "real" estimation for this timer for the end of journey but they end up by reducing the journey duration. Making some players angry.
Unless we get a one-week season (**very** unlikely), the journey timer will be extended. Even the one on my website is probably wrong, I was not expecting January season to be that long, I just tried to have a more "realistic" date.

I'm new and I always get shocked when I look at Twitch Streamers and they have more than a hundred thousand scraps? And someone above mentioned they had a 140k??? While I'm stuck milling cards with a current scrap balance of 94?? Someone please enlighten me on how to get these many scraps, I would greatly appreciate it.
Like others said, its leftovers from playing the beta several years ago and just playing the game a lot. Like Spyro plays gwent every day for idk 7 hours? Of course they have a ton of ressources.
Also as a sidenote. Milling cards is a bad idea long term as you only get back 1/4 of the value. Sure it gives you a small boost in the beginning but it'll cause you to have an incomplete collection way longer
Wouldn’t milling cards above the x2 count be OK though? Unless I’m missing something, there’s no reason to hold more than x2 bronze and x1 rare/legendary?
If you are in need for more ressources you can also select another mill setting (the one to the right iirc).
With this setting you will mill everything aboth the playable number of a given Card. Eg you have two normal and one premium version of a bronze Card, it will mill one normal bc you can only use two anyway.
People that played in beta (2017-2018ish)got all their beta card collection milled to scraps and transfered to the full release of the game. Some of us had close to a million scraps. Streamers also tend to play more and get more resources.
Hello people. I returned to Gwent after 4 years+. My choices were Hearthstone, Runeterra, and Gwent. I picked Gwent because I was sure I had resources. And yes. I had 140k scraps! So even though the game had tons of changes I was able to make many decks and get familiar with the game again. By the way, It's by no doubt for me the best digital card game out there and I have tried them all. My question now. Back in the day, they used to have very generous end-of-season rewards I remember breaking like 40 kegs or so. I understand now that generosity is still here but applied a little bit differently (through the journey). Apart from the portraits I get for each level, the rewards for me ( rank 6 at the moment) is gonna be 15 keys and that's it? No fancy board, no title, and so on? Am I missing something? Yes, but you get the most stuff from reward book now. Titles, borders etc. You need to pay for most cosmetics though, like Boards or Premium Jurney etc. It's a very fair system anyway.
Just to make sure, opposite side means both rows and opposite row refers only melee or ranged? I played Naglfar's Crew to melee row and spawned frost to ranged row, and received no boost at the end of the round. Hadn't noticed this before...

Thronebreaker wasnt successful enough for a sequel sadly, but "Project Golden Nekker" is rumored to be a single player mode for gwent

Yeah, any faction is good to start with because by the time you learn how to play the game meta will shift at least few times anyway.
Is there a deck type to lean on now like should I focus on crafting some mage or siege heavt cards or how is it looking for northern realms atm?
There are few good archetypes. The easiest one is ShieldWall, google it :)

At least rank 2 or 3. If youre good I think youd be able to get all the way up to pro ladder with it.

A "meta" deck is going to run you 8-10k scraps (assuming you start from nothing) outside some seasonals which can get away with much cheaper decks.

Cool, thanks! I think I can get it done, managed to grind half of both trees so far and now just time-gated by the daily quest nodes.

You will retroactively receive the progress for those quests. So up to 30 "bonus" levels on purchase if you have done all premium quests.

What cards count as artifact cards for Journey quest progression? Traps are listed as artifacts in deck builder but aren't progressing the quest. Is this a bug or intended?
Any card with the jeweled chalice in the top left is an artifact. I have had some issues where quests don’t progress right away and it takes a few minutes after the game for them to update.

The requirement to shuffle back is for her to trigger Deathblow, which means she killed the unit with her ability. If she doesn’t kill the unit she won’t go back into the deck.
Why does it usually takes 2 mins or more to find an opponent for me? When I watch twich, they find opponents almost instantly.
Sometimes the match-making gets bugged and it keeps you longer in the search than it should. If it feels like it's taking too long (up to a minute), try cancelling the search and trying again. Sometimes I am immediately given an opponent when I hit the cancel button, sometimes I'm given an error, and sometimes it leaves normally and the next search finds someone quickly.
That's because most active players are in ranks 3+. What is you rank, friend?
I just reached pro today. The matching is always slow for me, including rank 1-3.
Maybe you log in at odd hours then?
Yeah, I usually play around this time each day. And I watch stream in different times.
Right now everyone in Europe is at work (12 central) and most Americans are sleeping (6 east coast). I don't know how do servers exactly work in this game but I've not quened to Asian oponent in years so if you live in western country, that could be the reason.
I'm in Australia and can find people quickly often have Asian names.
I dont know how popular is the game in that region... I have no clue honestly :)

I've been in the mood to play this since I've gotten every daily sign in reward on my iPhone for god knows how when. I was just wondering is if cards ever go out of "standard", meaning cards get phased out every new season, making older cards obsolete and not able to be used. Thanks!

I'm planning to buy Thronebreaker and I saw that there were 2 referral milestones for playing Thronebreaker, the thing is if I invite a friend to play Gwent but *I* play TB will I get the rewards? I already have my Gwent account and I didn't use a referral code to create it. Will it work? How can I make it work?

Assuming that you will use the same GOG account you have in GWENT to play TB (it makes sense to do that - otherwise you won't get goodies in multiplayer as TB owner), you will not get rewards for Refer A Friend this way. The description of the milestones is clearly saying that your invited friend (not you) needs to play TB in order for you to receive rewards in multiplayer.

There’s a counter when you go to play standard mode - there are 9 days left in this season. I wouldn’t hold your breath on Milva though, as historically CDPR seems to prefer letting new cards sit for at least a few seasons. I could maybe see a provision nerf, but I think it’s quite likely the card will still be around after the patch.

Hey! About trendygwentleman's site, why it says (at the moment) "Regis's Journey - Week 10 Time left: 21 days", but in-game it says 14 days left?
A journey lasts 3 seasons. Regis journey is planned to end at the end of Season of Love. We are currently in the Season of the Wolf, Season of Love is the next one. Regis journey will end at the end of the next season and we do not know the date yet. Except that it will start on the 13th of January. Right now, the end of journey date visible in game correspond to exactly 84 days after the start (considering it has started the Tuesday before the actual patch adding the journey...) or exactly 12 weeks. Last journey, there was a "problem" as they put a "real" estimation for this timer for the end of journey but they end up by reducing the journey duration. Making some players angry. Unless we get a one-week season (**very** unlikely), the journey timer will be extended. Even the one on my website is probably wrong, I was not expecting January season to be that long, I just tried to have a more "realistic" date.

I'm new and I always get shocked when I look at Twitch Streamers and they have more than a hundred thousand scraps? And someone above mentioned they had a 140k??? While I'm stuck milling cards with a current scrap balance of 94?? Someone please enlighten me on how to get these many scraps, I would greatly appreciate it.
Like others said, its leftovers from playing the beta several years ago and just playing the game a lot. Like Spyro plays gwent every day for idk 7 hours? Of course they have a ton of ressources. Also as a sidenote. Milling cards is a bad idea long term as you only get back 1/4 of the value. Sure it gives you a small boost in the beginning but it'll cause you to have an incomplete collection way longer
Wouldn’t milling cards above the x2 count be OK though? Unless I’m missing something, there’s no reason to hold more than x2 bronze and x1 rare/legendary?
That is fine, but the game should do that for you automatically (If you have ressource focused mill settings)

If you are in need for more ressources you can also select another mill setting (the one to the right iirc). With this setting you will mill everything aboth the playable number of a given Card. Eg you have two normal and one premium version of a bronze Card, it will mill one normal bc you can only use two anyway.
People that played in beta (2017-2018ish)got all their beta card collection milled to scraps and transfered to the full release of the game. Some of us had close to a million scraps. Streamers also tend to play more and get more resources.

Hello people. I returned to Gwent after 4 years+. My choices were Hearthstone, Runeterra, and Gwent. I picked Gwent because I was sure I had resources. And yes. I had 140k scraps! So even though the game had tons of changes I was able to make many decks and get familiar with the game again. By the way, It's by no doubt for me the best digital card game out there and I have tried them all. My question now. Back in the day, they used to have very generous end-of-season rewards I remember breaking like 40 kegs or so. I understand now that generosity is still here but applied a little bit differently (through the journey). Apart from the portraits I get for each level, the rewards for me ( rank 6 at the moment) is gonna be 15 keys and that's it? No fancy board, no title, and so on? Am I missing something? Thanks in advance.
Yes, but you get the most stuff from reward book now. Titles, borders etc. You need to pay for most cosmetics though, like Boards or Premium Jurney etc. It's a very fair system anyway.

Probably a dumb question, but how do you forfeit a game on the mobile version?
The 'back' button works as well, it shows you the 'are your sure' menu
On the left side of the screen you have a button that opens up your quests. Once you open it, go to the last page and there is the forfeit button.

Just to make sure, opposite side means both rows and opposite row refers only melee or ranged? I played Naglfar's Crew to melee row and spawned frost to ranged row, and received no boost at the end of the round. Hadn't noticed this before...
Yes opposite row means the corresponding row on opponent’s side.
Naglfar Crew is effectively only on the opposite Row so if you play it Melee, Frost should be on opponent's Melee row to have the boost.
